Yeah, i got into these guys before i saw Portlandia, but that opening really connected my pool days of 2012 to the fall when i got into the show. as a white/hispanic guy from Kansas.
The more “known” Washed Out becomes, the more mainstream and the more likely they are to have to cater to the mainstream. I like it this way better. Just making great 🎶.

@@MC-kp2oi indeed. The original is literally just the intro of the Gary Low 45 rpm single played at 33 1/3 rpm with that guy singing over it. It sounds cool. This live version doesn't.
When I clicked on this video I was thinking, "how the fuck is he going to pull this off live? Surely it can't be done." Then my jaw proceeded to hit the floor.
i know this is years later, but i have to put it out there that this song was the only song that would stop my youngest daughter from crying when she was a baby. it worked literally every time.

My boyfriend and I love Washed Out so much. Hope they tour in DC or Baltimore one day so we can see them Live! Also fun fact: Ernest (lead singer) is married to the girl on the keyboard/backup vocals. I love them omg.
Happy 10th anniversary to this amazing performance and track. Washed Out has released so many other songs in this time but this remains one of my favorite songs from them.
This song...the melodies...the notes- it just hits you right in the brainwaves. Makes you feel nostalgic for no identifiable reason at all. #Portlandia
First time I heard this was in NYC at a VR arcade where I brought my kids. Tons of hipsters working there and this came on. Shazammed it and here we are. Huge fan.
i was the first person to like this band because i secretly lived in ernest greene's parents' basement behind a furnace and watched him import all of the samples into Reason and quietly applauded every time he added sidechain compression. sorry you were late to the party. i bet you drink coors and just found out about purity ring yesterday.
This is so much the attitude of the people on the Portlandia show. Just down to earth and normal, kinda reminds me of when I was little with the 70's music. I think it is my favorite song since I have been very young, but I did not go buy the cd yet. I would like to hear some of the other songs they do too. I give the bands look and the songs sound an A+ and the show is abfab!
I've loved this song since 2009 and JUST discovered Portlandia LOL Seems to be the opposite for most people, have been shown this song via the series... either way eternally grateful the two are connected and I've been enlightened to the glory of Fred Armisen
And it is. Actually this piece was originally one big slow down sample with lots of reverb of another 80's song from Gary Low. In this live version he recreates it with actual musicians and instruments...
Ahh, this bassline was sampled in a MANSIONS ON THE MOON remix for Broken Paradise. Nice! That song actually brought me here. I'm quite hooked on Washed Out now.
The dream of the 90s is alive in portland

@@richgreene86 portlandia it was a comedy TV show, an awesome one and made fun of all the shit Portland is today
Saw this guy and Tame Impala perform back 2 back sets while on a blissful roll and I haven’t been the same since.
SO DID I THIS WEEKEND NOT KIDDING….I became healed
Adding Rüfüs Du Sol would be my ideal trifecta 😍😍😍
I’m so jealous but in love with your comment at the same time.
😂
Ummmm wut?
Thank God for Fred Armisen and Portlandia I would've never discovered this music, as a black dude from New York

Thank god for childish Gambino
Slowed down sampling from Gary Low's "I Want You" song.
@@silverfox4557 WOW i had no idea!
I just found Washed Out yesterday. Had no idea they were responsible for the intro to Portlandia until right this moment.
This is on my personal list of top 25 songs, contributed so much during my years of adolescence, wish the band was more well known
I definitely wanna know the remaining 24

"Feel It All Around"; is the BEST song in the entire WORLD.
It's just a sampled song of"I Want You" by Gary Low. The best song in the world is just.... slowed down with someone elses vocals.
@@MC-kp2oi indeed. The original is literally just the intro of the Gary Low 45 rpm single played at 33 1/3 rpm with that guy singing over it. It sounds cool. This live version doesn't.
Actually love how they reinterpreted it.
ignore the boring old farts not liking a remastered version of a shit show
Agreed! It’s 2021 and I still feel all the chills. Amazing!

this sounds like a completely different, yet equivalently awesome song
Feel it all around is my legit grounding song...without this I was batshit crazy...I swear. Thanks to Washed Out for saving my sanity♥️♥️♥️

There's something deeply comforting about this one particular song...
It's so relaxing...
"You feel it all around yourself
You know it's yours and no one else
You feel the thought of learning again
It's all around
You're tired of all the things you did
You'll work it out ""
You feel the thought of "Love" again brothrr

This song is the soundtrack to the feeling you get right after they shoot that stuff in your IV just before surgery!

Ourselves individually do not matter. It's what we make and put INto this world what matters. Love
My partner played this(CD) at our beach house party at Sundown and I fell in love with him more and this band

I know absolutely nothing about this band or the guy that wrote this, but I've listened to this song at least 100 times now.
When I first heard the original version I played it sooo many times. Because I love it’s vibe.
This is why I come to KEXP to hear music played by musicians......nothing against produced music I'm a fan of course
Ocean city beach vibes. This added to my playlist
I FALL into FEEL IT ALL AROUND, all the time...... One of the best songs ever.....Escaping this climatic tune; failure is not an option.
