Thank you for the detail shots. I'm building this as a "night light" so not going totally stock. Your great pictures help very much with my planning. Thanks
I couldn't even imagine a 9 foot model. At that scale you could make every rivet in the hull and every plank on the deck! I look forward to seeing your ship!
You know what.... That is the best model i have ever seen! I buying a model RMS titanic in 1 weeks times....im buying exactly the same model as your ship... I tried to find the ship that im buying reviews... Well thanks to you! Finally i got one titanic review model. Just only i seriously hate painting the ships....
Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope to build a bigger scale model of this ship in the future, but for now I'm happy with the small 1:700 scale. I don't have the room to display a bigger model, so 1:700 fits quite nicely on my bookcase and I have room for 2 or 3 more ships in the same scale! :)
Thanks! I don't really know what it weighs, but I'd say just a few ounces. It's pretty light plastic. It's a small model; the whole ship is about 14" long.
Not too bad for a 15" model actually... Your Titanic's design is almost similar to that of the original ship's blueprint, in fact, considering it is less than half of mine! :)
I would say it's pretty close to the Airfix kit, but don't quote me on it. This is a newer, re-tooled 1/700 Academy kit and I think it's well detailed. So far all of the ships I've built are in 1/700 and I like that scale. Still very detailed, but small enough to fit nicely on a bookshelf. I don't have the space for anything bigger. I wish I could find a decent 1/700 modern day cruise ship kit. Royal Caribbean or Princess ships would make great model kits!
I used Tamiya and Model Master brand Flat Acrylic paints. Some of the colours are pretty basic, flat black, flat white, neutral grey, and the rusty red colour for the hull, but the rest of the colours I custom mixed. I went on the net and researched all the different colours and I suggest you do the same. Since I built this a year ago, I can't recall my exact formulas. Good luck.
Thank you! It makes me feel good to know I've inspired people to try building this kit. If you have any questions, by all means don't hesitate to send me a private message. Good luck! :)
To Daniel. The music was just a loop I created that I thought would give a sombre tone considering what happened to the real ship. Happy, cheerful music just didn't seem to work.
Unfortunately not. You'll have to get that stuff on your own. I went to a hobby store to get my paints, and I got the glue and brushes from places like Michael's and Wal Mart. I already had the knife and little cutters. Good luck!
That's so cool. I'm gonna begin to build my model of the Titanic tomorrow gonna just get it ready to paint it's 1/570 scale model I don't know what that mean is that big?
Wow, it's a good thing I decided to check out this model on TH-cam before buying it...this particular Titanic model has LOTS of inaccuracies (large riveting on the funnels, lack of windows on D deck for the saloon and galleys, collapsibles C and D are missing, the lines and form are all wrong, etc.)...
It was my first kit, and it was a gift from a friend. I didn't care about such details back then and focused on the paint job instead. Five years later it still looks good on my shelf next to other ships I've built since then.
I wish I had the room for 1/350 scale models. 1/700 fit better on my shelf. Also again, this was my first model and it was a gift. I know there are a few inaccuracies in the molding, but I'm pretty proud of the paint job.
Funny enough, I did keep the "blueprints" from this model kit. I wrote notes all over them as I built up the ship - things like what day I installed what part, etc.
The model was given to me as a gift, so I don't know the actual price or where it came from. I did a little looking online and saw it priced between $20 - $30(US). Hope that helps! :)
I've given this more thought. I don't trust myself to try to repaint the benches because I don't want to mess up the decks, so I will leave them in gray. For future reference, I'll just tell people the crew covered the benches in canvas to protect them from the elements. How does that sound? LOL! :)
***** I was in doubt with a model of Revell brand, including 3 paints and glue, I thought all brands came with paints. Thanks for answering my question.
No this ship doesn't float. There are two reasons: It's not weighted (ballasted) properly and would capsize; and I had to make two small holes in the hull for the pegs on the display stand. She just sits proudly on my bookcase next to another ship I just built in the same scale. You could easily make a version of this that floats and there are lots of great videos out there of people who did that.
+TheWanderingOak Yeah. sorry for 1 year late reply. I was kinda forgeting. but. I just want to let you know that the box is different know. And all pieces are painted. Also. I bought this 2 TIMES! Just because I lost the old one and the mast on the second Titanic fell over my bad and I can't grab it but I still have 1 mast. And have you try in your bath or something? If you do. It will sink. Also do you have Revel 1/400 model Titanic?
+Adam Zachary No, I haven't tested it to see if it will float. There are holes in the bottom for the display stand, so it will sink. This is 1/700 scale. I don't have the room in my home for bigger models.
The instructions in this kit are so crap. They are in black and white for one so I'll be using this video a lot to determine what the colours are. How did you write the titanic logo though? That thing is tiny
TheRubberStudiosASMR Do you mean the display stand, or the name on the hull? There were decals for the name on the hull, and the display stand has RMS Titanic molded on it, so I carefully painted it with a small brush. Did I answer your question?
Thank you for the tips. :) I realized the error with the cranes after I was finished. The reason I made that mistake was because I was following the instruction book which showed the cranes pointed the wrong way. At the time I didn't notice and now it's too late to change it. Also, thanks for the correction on the bench colour. Like I said in my description, this is my first model ship, so I hope I can be forgiven for small errors. :)
Dude checkout ken marshalls painting and see if you painted it right. Ken is a titanic visual historian and has been for 5 decades. Personally i think you missed out some details but it looks good. But still do it accurately :D Im being really honest with you.
I appreciate your honesty. This was my first ship and I know it's not perfect. It's one of those "If I could build it again, I'd do this..." situations. Maybe in the future I'll build one in 1/350 scale and get super detailed.
Consequence209 There's nothing wrong with either method. I have found that for me personally I get a neater finish by pre-painting the parts. In some cases it's hard to get a brush into certain areas of the ship.
Thank you for the detail shots. I'm building this as a "night light" so not going totally stock. Your great pictures help very much with my planning. Thanks
Amazing job on making it
Very nice job. I am currently working on the 1/570 version. That's a practice build before embarking on Academy's 1/400 version.
awesome work. Got this kit for my 8 year olds birthday and we are busy putting it together. Looking at your video for inspiration !
I couldn't even imagine a 9 foot model. At that scale you could make every rivet in the hull and every plank on the deck! I look forward to seeing your ship!
Nice job
I have a titanic kit which I am building now but I have trouble painting it. It takes a lot of time
I have a titsnic kit like this and I have trouble painting it. It is very difficult
InfinityIce Online As you can see in the video, I pre-painted a lot of parts before assembly.
InfinityIce Online Thank you!
Nice piece, a model to remeber the time that is spend for making it- Winter is right time for such work.
Thank you!
Thank you for your kind words! It's actually been a while since I've built a model ship and I hope I can get back into it soon!
Absolutely brilliant, hopefully mine arrives today
Have fun with it!
This is the MOST accurate and best model i've ever seen
Thank you!
TheWanderingOak teach me and everyone else how to build this
You know what.... That is the best model i have ever seen! I buying a model RMS titanic in 1 weeks times....im buying exactly the same model as your ship... Thank you!
Dude that's one of the best looking titanic models I've seen!
nice, so small and so detailed,
very good ........................................the music and the titanic both. exceelent
!!
+Biswarup Roy Thank you!
Brilliant job!
Amazingly detailed for 15 inches!
Great build!
Thank you!
THANKS! now I know I have to go and get them now before it comes in the mail. What colors should I get?
I did, lol. I learned my lesson. I am now starting a 1:400 scale Titanic. Wish me luck :)
Wow, great job dude!
Thank you!

you are a good painter!
Thank you!

Very similar design to my wooden 40" beauty... Although she was bought off an eBay auction rather than scratch-built!
Thank you! It makes me feel good to know I've inspired people to try building this kit. If you have any questions, by all means don't hesitate to send me a private message. Good luck! :)
Thank you!
That would be pretty sweet!
To Daniel. The music was just a loop I created that I thought would give a sombre tone considering what happened to the real ship. Happy, cheerful music just didn't seem to work.
My model is about 15 inches long.
It's very detailed for its size! The finished ship measures 15 inches long.
A 40" model must be super detailed! This one's only about 15" overall.
Does it come with paint and glue and brushes and a knife? Please respond because I just ordered it!
Thank you very much!
Enjoy!
That friend knew I wanted a nice classic ship for my new den and that I used to build models when I was younger, so why not?
Unfortunately not. You'll have to get that stuff on your own. I went to a hobby store to get my paints, and I got the glue and brushes from places like Michael's and Wal Mart. I already had the knife and little cutters. Good luck!
Yes. I used a non toxic model glue. You can find it at any hobby store.
That's so cool. I'm gonna begin to build my model of the Titanic tomorrow gonna just get it ready to paint it's 1/570 scale model I don't know what that mean is that big?
Yeah. I'm pretty sure 1/570 will be 50-60% larger than mine. Don't quote me on that. I know 1/350 is huge.
It's a fun project! Sorry it took me so long to reply to this. I missed the notification. How did it turn out?
Hello, it wanted to know, that you used type of painting, also it wanted to know if you painted it with paintbrush. Tanks
hello! i was wondering how did you apply the decals? especially the flags! thanks a lot in advance
Sorry for the delay. Very carefully! The flags ripped a little, so I put a tiny dab of glue on the mast. The name on the hull wasn't too difficult.

Is the revell 1/700 more accurate? do you know?
u faurked
Well I happen to have the Minicraft 1/350 scale version and that is by far the most accurate, and far more detailed than the rest.
I wish I had the room for 1/350 scale models. 1/700 fit better on my shelf. Also again, this was my first model and it was a gift. I know there are a few inaccuracies in the molding, but I'm pretty proud of the paint job.
You understand it's only 1:700 scale
DAMN!
I used Tamiya and Model Master acrylic paints. Yes, I painted everything by brush.
Funny enough, I did keep the "blueprints" from this model kit. I wrote notes all over them as I built up the ship - things like what day I installed what part, etc.
Thank you for this, im going to buy this kit off ebay.
edit
so many kits, UG. which MFG made your kit?
Mine was made by Academy. 1:700 scale. Have fun!
The model was given to me as a gift, so I don't know the actual price or where it came from. I did a little looking online and saw it priced between $20 - $30(US). Hope that helps! :)

You could, but I chose not to. I built this one as a display model only. There's nothing stopping you from building one and sinking it. :)
it comes with paints and brushes? or I'll have to buy later?
+Victor Hugo You will have to buy paints and brushes. They are not included in the kit. Any hobby store should have them.
***** I was in doubt with a model of Revell brand, including 3 paints and glue, I thought all brands came with paints. Thanks for answering my question.
+Victor Hugo You're welcome! Enjoy the build!
The Union Jack is at the stern. The flag of the country she's visiting is at the mast. She was heading for New York...
w8 where can you buy this kind of model ship
plzzz tell me ^^
New video posted, guys!
good :D
Thanks!
does it float?
I have two titanics in the same scale but they're different models, and of course i was excited so i rushed them and they both turned out bad
I used to be like that, but then I learned that it's best to take my time. :)
My NEXT one will look better i hope!
And is possible to make it sink in the bathtub?
It's not too difficult, but it's certainly not something you can just slap together in a day. Just take your time. :)
Yikes! Sorry to hear that!
Any hobby store should carry the paints.
Is that the Academy one?
Yes.
Oh, all right.
Rujul Arora I find you everywhere I go
Wow I also have that model
It's a good kit, really straight forward. I enjoyed building it, and I hope you do too!
+TheWanderingOak Yeah. sorry for 1 year late reply. I was kinda forgeting. but. I just want to let you know that the box is different know. And all pieces are painted. Also. I bought this 2 TIMES! No, I have the smaller 1/700 Titanic.
i am making that now!!!!!!!!!
I'm going to start assembling a 1/100 scale Titanic tomorrow... Yea, it's huge. About 9 feet long.
Sorry, the hull. Yes you answered it thanks
Why did it take that long?!?! I did it in a day!
Let's see it!
Ben Reading it didn’t take that long she just tried to copy how the actual titantic ttok to be built
Thank you for the tips. :) I realized the error with the cranes after I was finished. The reason I made that mistake was because I was following the instruction book which showed the cranes pointed the wrong way. At the time I didn't notice and now it's too late to change it. Like I said in my description, this is my first model ship, so I hope I can be forgiven for small errors. :)
Mine was terrible b/c i had to take it apart over and over to fix a piece
1:31
:)
Rully?
This one took me over a week to make.
Dude checkout ken marshalls painting and see if you painted it right. Ken is a titanic visual historian and has been for 5 decades. Personally i think you missed out some details but it looks good. But still do it accurately :D

I'm flattered, but I'm a married man. :)

Wy would a freind buy a model ship as a house warming present lol
look at my one it is My Titanic 1:700 scale model sinking
:)
Sorry, make that 15".
Everything is great except that us flag it's a british ship so raise the Union Jack
I'm not saying its stupid its pretty cool but its a weird thing
Shaky came is shaky
Yes. I know. First movie, so I think I can be forgiven. I don't have a fancy camera or a thing I can slide it on for panning.
whats with the creepy and suspenseful music
Hobby force, hobby lobby, Ebay
Y the fuck did you paint it before building it I have the same one and I built 1st and then painted it 2nd
Consequence209 There's nothing wrong with either method. I have found that for me personally I get a neater finish by pre-painting the parts. In some cases it's hard to get a brush into certain areas of the ship.
Consequence209 Year dude where the fuck is it. Hey.
You haven't got one and r just bragging. What a loser XD hahahaha !!!!!!!!!!!
Amature Airfix Modeler Yep, to all those who say they can do it faster and better, without painting it, then make your own video and show me.
Thank you!
