It’s amazing how RMC was able to keep the General layout while adding all of the awesome elements that make Steel Vengeance special. I know some RMC’s like Twisted Colossus removed half of the old ride
@@MrBlonday not really. The layout of the original was more of a figure 8 that went back and forth through the structure. If you watch original POV videos of Colossus, you will see that they took out a good chunk of the ride. That doesn’t mean that Twisted Colossus is bad, because it looks awesome and you traverse it twice, but they definitely cut a lot out
@@sargvsu the entire structure from Mean Streak was saved. Check out the side by side comparisons between Mean Streak and Steel Vengeance to see. Almost the entire structure was kept in tact other than the lift hill, which was made higher and steeper. They did not completely tear down and rebuild the structure
@John Jufko the footprint ramains, that's it. The foundation on which to lay the new track had to be completely rebuilt and redesigned, which is why the track platform itself is wider, not to mention steel vengeance has 4 inversions. It's not the same coaster. Not even close. It's 300 feet longer in all.
Everyone is complaining about the roughness of this ride. I'm going to cedar point tomorrow for the first time, yay! But with my history of wooden coasters, I LOVE the roughness!!!! I think it adds to the excitement!!
I miss the mean streak because it was part of my childhood, but holy hell, the steel vengeance is the most incredible roller coaster I've EVER been on.

I LOVED MEAN STREAK!!! I will miss the old version but I am excited for the new hybrid RNC version. I will never forget my first ride, I was with my best friend, the puke piles on the sides at the end were the best part, "it got em man! it got em!" Wood had such a great feel that people don't appreciate these days!
Y'all complaining about the roughness must have gone on a bad day. This is one of my favorite wooden coasters, up there with The Beast, The Voyage, and Thunderhead. Very creative design and the roughness is better than average for a woodie and easily neutralized. Haters gonna hate, Mean Streak, I'll always love you!
I have mixed emotions about Mean Streak being gone. I loved the mean streak and I love steel vengeance but this video made me realize how much I miss it
It's always awesome when you see that one hot chick in line then you get to keep seeing her everytime you switch directions walking through the turn styles.
I rode this on 3 different trips to Ohio's Cedar Point. Once the ride was down and then I saw it go over a hill in a test and quickly got in line with my friend and rode it 3 times in a row before anyone knew it was open. I loved Mean Streak. I havent rode Steel Vengeance yet but need to plan a trip if everything opens up this summer.
One of my favorite coasters of all time. I grew up in NE Indiana and our school would take field trips out to Cedar Point for the day. I was lucky enough to get to ride many of the coasters when they held records. I remember how rough the ride was on this depending on where you sat. I still loved the feel and flow. While the Mean Streak is no longer around, if you have never been to Cedar Point, and you love roller coasters, you should go. It's well worth the trip.
I loved mean streak growing up, it was built the ear i was born!! but started to hate the jerkiness as i grew older but still rode it lol....then steel vengeance comes and blew me away with its smoothness and unexpected brand new twists and turns for a coaster that i wasnt expecting with just a lap bar and no shoulder harness!!! I usually watch a video pov before i try a coaster but i have got so used to rollercoasters that i dont even scream on any not even the millennium force anymore, i didnt even look at the first hill when at the park to be caught off gaurd lol....oh man was I with that first drop steeper than millennium and its twists!! The maverick was the only other one that has caught me offgaurd since 2007 and still does. Its been one i keep my eyes closed on to not know the route and has helped keep its glory to me!! I now do this not out of fear but to be scared again, its insanity...oh one thing i always was scared of on mean streak was the wood structure at times always looked like it was about to take my head off as a kid at 2:162:34and 2:40 and just got closer and scarier as an adult 😆
To this day im still extremely grateful that i had been dying to go to cedar point for over 7 years since i had first heard of it, and when i finally went in 2015, i also made it just in time to get a chance to ride Mean streak
I was at CP on Wednesday for my physics class. We had a packet to do and limited time at the park. I wasn't a big fan of roller coasters until just a few days ago. I had a total blast and can't wait to go back and ride everything it least once, this included. Everyone says it's awful, but I want the experience more than anything.
If RMC could Do Topper track Treatment to This it could Give Intamin's Maverick a run for its Money it says on RMC site topper track can be used on aging wood coasters I have rode Lightning Rod man that would make this extremely popular again not to mention it has a Great Lake View
The first time I went on Mean Streak, my head rattled around in the shoulder harness during the whole ride. My ears were hurting for the rest of the day. I went on Mean Streak a few more times after that, always with my hands in between the shoulder harness and my ears. I think they got rid of the shoulder harness in the last few years Mean Streak was around. I haven’t been on Steel Vengeance yet, but I have watched a POV video of it about 100 times.
You all talking about how rough this is, I bet you never rode Son of Beast at Kings Island before it was demolished. Now THAT is a rough roller coaster! Mean streak is still an awesome ride though. RIP. 1991-2016.

Holy shit. I got to ride this for the first time the same year it got demolished. That's crazy. Up until this year, I had only been to tiny parks locally; cedar point was my first real park and my first real coaster experience. I'm so glad I chose to ride this as my very first coaster -- I had no idea they were removing it.
"Mean Streak Henry is a retired gentleman who lives in Sandusky during the season. He's ridden this a ridiculous amount of times. (I'd have to check). I can see why they got rid of this ride- the camera is so shakey and my mom and uncle (my uncle has a season pass so he goes a whole lot every year) said it was rlly rlly rough
Love the new ride. I wish Steel Vengeance would have somehow kept the Mean Streak ‘tunnel’ on the first lift for cosmetics to acknowledge the previous height vs the new height. Not meaning to change the coaster layout, but to simply display the coasters additional height. (If I was to be picky)

The Beast at Kings Island is the longest roller coaster in the USA and the 3 longest coaster in the world. It is also the longest wooden coaster in the world. Nearly a 5 minute ride at 7400 feet long.

the wooden rides are the scariest there old and make weird sounds but i love them
It still amazes me to this day how they really took the most hated coaster in the park and turned into the number 1 ride on earth!
CRAZY LONG coaster I really wish I got the chance to ride it
This ride did absolutely nothing now that I look back at it. What an upgrade SV is.
I remember riding this at night a few years ago with my cousin. He got a bug in his mouth and I got one in my eye
