- This tune, also known as 'Spirits of the Morning' was first recorded by Canadian fiddler Andy De Jarlis. According to him it was the last tune he remembered playing the previous night before passing out and waking up with a hangover. Truth or not; it's certainly a good story..
Tuning: Double C
Banjo: Ome Tupelo - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Breakfast, the most important drink of the day
😂
Dude thank you. I’m a Celtic player, but this version of whiskey before breakfast, made my day. Wonderful.
Best clawhammer version ive heard! Wish we could jam ❤
@@genesishandboards Thanks! Come on over :)
I’m posting this here. I’m on clawhammer week 1. I want to be *half* this good at telling a musical story before I die. Such an amazing performance, drawing out so much of the spirit of the instrument. Thank you so much for this.❤
Wow! Thank you very much :)
I love writing songs on the fly, it's my favorite thing to do,I've made a lot of friends this way and also have heard some of my lyrics changed and famous musicians singing them, thank God that I can make people smile❤
you put your heart in your fingers- you get this kind of sound.
Really dig your mellow / chill style of playing in this. I used to see a group play this in Nashville every so often. Awesome.
Fantastic playing. Very talented.
Thank you Tony!
Just starting to learn claw hammer…. You give me something to shoot for.
Thank you! Good luck on your journey
Very good

Bravo!
Heel mooi! Groetjes vanuit België.
Een Hollander uit België! Thanks man
Well done :)
Absolutely lovely.
Loving the videos Jelle. Ome banjo sounds lovely & great playing. I'm waiting on a John Balch goat skin head for my Leon Ballard ,an English custom built banjo.
Awesome! I follow Leon on facebook, great builder, such beautiful instruments. I'm about to order a goaty as well from John's website! What model did you choose?
@@JelSnel Hi Jelle, I ordered one of the natural pattern goat hides @ $99.00. My Ballard came with a calf skin head which Leon stretched on but my thumb has worn a small hole in it. I've been playing it nearly every day since I got it 10 months ago. I've now switched to playing over the scoop to avoid head wear. It's a 12 inch pot made of American black walnut & sounds fantastic. Leon is great to deal with. I'm excited to hear what the Balch head sounds like on it.
I want some whiskey
Nice!
Mighty fine!
Me: That's a nice banjo
Looks up one for sale: _gulp_ 😳
Lovely playing, such a nice gentle style. Its exactally what I'm aiming for.
Haha! Yeah they're quite expensive.. I was lucky to have bought one in a good time. Thanks for the compliment and good luck on your journey
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Yes! Very nice...🤍
Thanks!
Zeer goed jelle
💟
Dont break my heart, that's all I ask. I can't take another broken heart.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Woohoo!!
Thats a nice little tune brother
Thanks man!
@@JelSnel No problem brother, I was expecting some word but this tune did not need it. It's pure and beautiful and should be left the way it is ❤️💪
@@JelSnel If you don't mind me asking. Are you from down south from me, I'm from southern Pennsylvania. It sounds like you might be a Virginia man or somewhere around there
@@dontmakememad6759 I'm not from the US at all! I live in the Netherlands
@@JelSnel Hell yeah man thats very cool, enjoy your beautiful country and them tunes brotha!
Love this one! Anyone know where I could get a tab for it?
hey, did you ever find one? I want to learn this version too! so smooth and melodic
Third in line for a tab... @@KenneyCmusic
Hi Jelle, sounds good! If i may ask, where did you get that Ome? Not easy to come by in the Netherlands
Thanks! Very true, I ordered it via Eagle Music, they're based in Britain. Excellent customer service, would highly recommend
@@JelSnel Thanks! I've been on their website many of times. The Ome always caught my eye as well.
Hi Jelle, sounds great! I hear the tuning as double C, so you are tuned low and using a capo at the fourth fret? What are your thoughts or reasons to do that? Do you often play in a lower tuning? Thanks!
Hey Paul, no the banjo is tuned in double C and then capoed 2 frets. So what you hear is in the key of E :)
What would a Rhum and Mango sound like ... before breakfast? Today’s my 75th birthday and we are going to study this tune next week in Midwest (Virtual) Banjo Camp.
That sure sounds like a healthy breakfast! Congratulations on your birthday :)
Do u have the tab for this version?
What tuning are you playing this in?
It's double c!
what type of strings are you using?
Hey,
What part of the world r u in?
I wanna jam with you.
I hope you r close.
This is perfect
Thank you
Thanks Ron! That would be awesome. I live in the Netherlands though.. Is that close to home by any chance?
@@JelSnel HA! 6,300 kilometer from Pittsburgh!
I really like your work! I will listen to all your work.
You have a new Fan!!
@@ronkean111 That's a little far :P Thank you so much, really appreciate it
Tuning you're using?
It's double C Steve. (gCGCD)
nylon strung?
No, steel strings. It has a wooden tone-rim that makes it sound mellow :)
@@JelSnel one of the best sounding banjos i ever heard! in my country the only open back banjo available is the epi mb100...anyway keep enjoying it! awesome tunes here
@@fennarios Thank you very much! I live in the Netherlands myself, so also not much acces to decent instruments. Do you live in Europe? If so I can recommend Eagle Music. They're based in Britain and are specialized in banjo's.
Next step is whisky as breakfast. Is that a song too?
I don't think so, but I'm in
Hey dude! I know this isn't super related to the video but I've just bought myself a banjo and can't find any good content about arm rests? I don't know if there's any difference between different materials or brands but your one looks beautiful and I'd love one similar
Hey! Thanks, I really like this armrest. This particular one comes with the brand of banjo (Ome), but I have woodies on all my banjo's. I can recommend the ones Rickard is selling. They come in different woods/colours to match your banjo and the price is fair. Check it out!
Nederlands?
Yes I am!
