So, did AMG do anything to the base EQE apart from a bit of body work and visual tweaks? Did they tweak the underlying chassis, motors etc or is this just a base model with a few cosmetic tweaks.

The problem with the Tesla is that we have been seeing it largely unchanged for 7 years and it needs a refresh.

Pretty nice design overall. Only let down is the fake exhaust vents. Would look a lot cleaner deleted..

I do not go into the dealership and look to see if the exhaust is fake and most people don't do that. That is a minor detail about a car. What I care about is what the car looks like on the outside and the inside and how it performs.

Why would you choose an amg over the normal eqe.. They are both electric and the 5 sec faster 0 to 60 is just a gimmick you won't use.. In previous amg you could feel and hear the engine (before those 2L) the driving was simply different from a normal car

I said the same thing about electric exotic cars. Why would you choose over a plaid or performance lucid? Its the Ice engine, gears, that makes the difference.
The normal eqe does 0 to 60 in 6 seconds. This AMG SUV does 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds. That is a big difference. Some people want to have faster cars.

Great review as always. I predict most people will use the flappy paddles for regen as much as I use them on my SLK to change gear....not at all

Out of all the EQ models, this is by far the best one.
When I saw the first EQE, I was like "wow, that's so ugly!" But this one makes me want one now! (The towing hook is my favorite part... LOL!)
I agree, unfortunately, it's all but invisible it's not even listed on the official Mercedes web page in Germany. There's an overabundance of saloon-type vehicles with the same drive train but finding an AMG 53 SUV, can't be done! This is strange when you consider SUVs to be the best-selling vehicles at present.

Was looking forward to switch my EQC with the EQE SUV. But max 1800kg towing capacity :( - Deal-breaker! The BMW iX40 has 2500kg!!

I'm waiting to see how the GLC 63s Coupe will look like. If it disappoints, this may be an option as a daily, despite the fact I really don't want to go electric

It's ... cute. When everyone has an electric car, they'll tell us that hydrogen is the way to go, and you'll have to go through the same savings-account emptying process over again.

Surely these performance e SUV’s are just irrelevant, much prefer to see something 1-2 seconds slower to 60 with better range and efficiency.
Why a family SUV needs 700hp is beyond me. Surely about 300-400 would be enough and could add a bit of range too?

There's EQE, EQE SUV, EQS, EQS SUV... I don't understand, would there be an EQG Sedan too? Since they wanna make SUV versions of all thier EV sedans they might as well make sedan versions of Thier SUVs too lol & remember there was an EQC that suddenly no one talks about

honestly? True, even the least powerful ev mercedes get up to speed sufficiently. But ey, that means saving some money on the choice of engine ^^

Electric SUVs are really good looking
The interior looks really nice, but if it's an AMG, it definitely has lost all of the exterior racing design worthy of the pedigree. It looks too mild and gentle, the front grille is simply hideous for an AMG. I know it's about getting the most aerodynamic shape to assist with getting the most efficiency out of the electric vehicle, but this is an AMG! Give it that AMG look, like the GLC AMG 63S. It really looks like a soccer mom car, but one with close to 700HP (and I think that is a huge error in marketing strategy and a safety concern for the roads).
I don’t understand why they have to use plastics in EV vehicles. The car manufacturers can design cars which look strong and well built from the outside but have electric functionality on the inside.

Polestar 3 doesn't have this amount of storage space. So if you need the utility. Otherwise, personal preferences.
The world of EV’s is becoming more and more compelling. I would consider an MB product because of this AMG.

Sorry Tesla but the interior is on another level.
It hardly looks any different from the non AMG version. The standard car almost looks like and 'SE' version of the car, the difference is that subtle. Can't help but think this a shameless marketing attempt to get people interested in yet another electric SUV buy farming out the AMG name.
So you see all these new EVs coming out from Legacy automakers, and they all make Tesla look SUPER boring and simple by comparison. Too bad Tesla won't invest more into quality and updating their cars to look better (and less dated) They have an unheard of 40% profit margin, so no excuse not to (other than just being cheap and greedy)

Polestar 3 better
what I really don't get is how bad the UI looks. It is completely outdated.
I checked out the e-class as my (potentially) new business car - this UI was just a no-go (now I have a BMW 5 series). In real life it is just ugly..
Note: I don't care about their branding - I just wanted a nice looking and very comfy car. But since my eyes hurt in the Mercedes and the Audi A6 is not that stylish, I got the BMW 5 series. Enjoy it every day.
I find the EQE cars too smooth and rounded. too egg-like in shape. aerodynamics are one thing, but give us a bit of testosterone.
In the UK, I only see South Asian blokes own Mercs.
AMG has lost its desirability. To many variants, to many models.
