As much as I love the skits, I gotta admit seeing a version without them when re watching videos is nice to see as someone who just wants to hear what Scott is talking about sometimes. Having another alternative is always appreciated

This is a fantastic revival of The Scott we all Woz-ed back in the day.
My thoughts exactly. Relatively short, fast paced, used the old outro music. I loved it.
I think he’s just pandering to classic Scott fans with stuff like this.

We haven't gotten anything like Chia Pets or The Trial or Speed Dating in a long time :/
I respect the desire to hone down on more grandiose content, but I really do miss the silly skit stuff sometimes, and I think theyre good breaks between the long form stuff.

Scott missed the funniest part of alyx: it ends on a cliff hanger literally ten seconds after the cliffhanger that HL2 ended on, after in universe retconning said cliffhanger via gman space magic.

I’m still waiting for Scott to revive the blue slanted ceiling. I’m just not getting the same enjoyment without feeling that sense of a slant above the Scott we once knew. Like is it asking too much to get that done

Wario Land technically died in 2004 when Nintendo R&D1 was rearranged, got revived in 2008 by Good-Feel (the Yoshi’s *BLANK* World guys), and died again.

Narc is epic
Sonic 4 to this day is the biggest betrayal of a legendary video game character by a laughably washed up video game company in history.
What's especially sad is how many of the Genesis Purist reviewers/ecelebs who sucked it off back in the day just because it wasn't another trash 3D Sonic game and even still defend it as something Sonic needed. Arguably, a rotten version of the cure is far more damaging than the disease.

As someone who grew up with Crash Bandicoot. His revival is amazing.
Since 2017 he got 4 game releases(5 if you count the mobile game) something unheard of in this era. Like Ratchet and Clank or Spyro. But those games needed like 3 different developers for each of them. 2 for Toys for Bob.
Sucks Jak and Daxter and Sly Cooper had a 10+ year hiatus. Longer than Crash Bandicoot.
We need a Crash Bandicoot show or movie since Sonic and Mario was successful

Scott, trust me, many people who bought xcom and fallout 3 knew about previous entries. Fallout 2 is a legendary game on post-soviet area.
I just spent the last 6 hours playing fallout 3 and it's one of the first Scott mentions and absolutely it feels like the first fallout on console. They didn't even have proper ads until new Vegas. Literally my only complaint otherwise it's better than NV in every way. So many b.s invisible Walls in that game way too many for something with Bethesda printed on the disc
I'm glad when they bring back old series but as long as they do it respectfully and don't half ass the game

Mobile gaming became huge after 2007 (For better or for worse), VR technology greatly advanced in the 2010s, Motion controls continued to evolve after the Wii used them in 2006, The Nintendo Switch became the first hybrid console, I could go on all day. I feel like you only say that because you don’t like most video games that came after 2007.

That’s essentially the point of this channel. It’s clips taken from longer/older videos.
@@ninja_tony Specifically the videos without the skits. The skits, while funny, can get in the way of Scott's thoughts. It's not unique to him by far- video game reviewers and ecelebs going back to the 90s had a tendency to do skits, and the longer they went on, the more elaborate and self referential those skits tended to become until you get to situations like late stage X-Play or later AVGN where the "skit" takes up a large chunk of the video and actively limits how much is actually covered, often times with something tangentially related to games in the first place. Whereas they may have at least been genuinely funny and topical early on, eventually they just get too into telling their own joke story broken up with video games every so often. Even if you like their humor or writing, it can get annoying to see a 20 minute video, and 12 of them are taken up by a dress-up skit.
Channels like this that cut away the skits are always welcome in my book.
Scott having strangely large numbers of random old games makes me wonder, does he buy and sell them as a living, like is he running a shop or at least a vendor on ebay or amazon?
Being a hardcore gaming enthusiast, it's honestly not unusual to have a large collection like.that for one reason or another.
@@SuspiciousScout I personally have multiple copies of some of the same games, but that's always for a reason, like I decided I wanted a boxed copy, or I have tons of japanese versions of games I already have the NA version of, or different console. Never really just decide I need 10 of the same version of a game.
@@TheJadeFist Oh, that's what you meant, multiple copies of the same game. I misinterpreted your original comment. Honestly it wouldn't surprise me if those were empty boxes Scott got for the joke. I do know he uses multiple editing tricks to make it seem like he's breaking stuff when he's actually not, or he uses already broken things as props.

Why do people say the Retro DKC’s stay true to the formula? The formula is fundamentally different. Phenomenal games, but definitely not true to the original gameplay.

Clearly the franchise that Nintendo needs to revive is not F-Zero, nor Kid Icarus nor even Mother/Earthbound, but Ice Climbers.

@@ikagura I mean, my comment was mostly meant as a joke. Since, you know, I don't think anyone is actually asking for a new Ice Climbers game compared to the others.
But to give a serious answer, even if nobody actually wants a new Ice Climbers game, I think you could do stuff some neat stuff with the concept in this day and age. I mean, there are games out there with a similar premise; Celeste and Bread & Fred come to mind.

Which isn't another Lylat Wars/SF64 reboot nor remake but a real sequel without necessarily Andross as the main villain.
@@ikagura The problem is that Miyamoto doesn't care for stories in games unless it's Zelda and Pikmin. Coming up with a new villian, while still having gameplay as good as Andross would be difficult.

As much as I appreciate Scott’s huge, hours-long videos, I do still miss his more digestible bite-sized ones like this, and do wish we could get a healthy mix of both rather than one over the other. But ah well, any of his content is still goated either way.💪🏽

Most of the people who asked for Shenmue 3 had never played the first 2, either that or they played the games once or twice so their nostalgia made thek think those games are better than they actually are. Then they buy Shenmue 3 and realize how bad the game is. Not to mention the story is sooo disappointing. If you want to play Shenmue, just play the Yakuza series, its basically a better version of the same series.

I think the best outcome is for a game series to be revived in spirit but not in name. For example, Mega Man Zero could not have a revival cus the 4th game was the bona fide last one. But Gunvolt was its spiritual sucessor, serving as a pseudo revival.
But I DO want Megaman X9!!!
The Sands trilogy of Prince of Persia was arguably the most iconic iteration of that franchise.
I still respect the other versions, especially the original Prince of Persia because it's where everything started, and I can't wait to check out the new installment of the series myself, but when I hear "Prince of Persia", the first thing that comes to my mind is Sands of Time or any of its direct sequels I played on PS2.
We just need a new Mega Man X with Metroidvania like elements

They already did that… twice. It was ZX and ZX Advent. I love the games but they weren’t really received that well.

The reason Mega Man 11 worked is because 8 bit graphics transfer very into 2.5D. Not the case with X because that started out as 16 bit.
Glad you brought up Street Fighter 4. That game meant so much to me after the death of fighting games post 2000. Other than Ocarina of Time, I have never been so excited to buy a new entry into one of my favorite IP's of ALL time.

Personally, I love revivals of old franchises. If they are done right, that is. Some are very hit or miss, but most have been great fun. Look at Resident Evil. I know, 7 wasn't really a revival, but take 6 and compare the two. RE is awesome once again.

It's a shame that shenmue 3 was mostly a filler episode with 30 min of progress for the actual story if you take all the fat out
I mean, I heard Shenmue's story was left hanging, so it would be understandable for fans and supporters wanting to finally see that reach its conclusion (when people still had love and faith for the series).
Scott is the reason why Wii U games are so expensive and hard to find now.
