This is fantastic...exactly what I needed. I'm trying to wade through the maze of deposition laws in CCP right now. I am a pro se litigant with a fee waiver and I can't afford alot of expenses. I also can't pay for attorney assistance. It's difficult when you're repping yourself. This helps clarify the law on depo's, which must be carefully followed.

As always great info, I was curious, If one receives a depo request and it says to be taken by Video and Stenographer, Not or... Of course, going to be video without an attorney could make one extremely nervous, only to learn at the time it is not going to be a video depo. Would that still be playing by the rules? Not that it is that big of a deal. I am just now finally able to get back into a few accounts " Darn two-step". So I am playing catch up in my classes.
Check your local rules. Where I practice if I see the word "video" I would assume there will or might be a video camera. But there are special rules on video depo notices so you have to see what your rules are in your jurisdiction. SV
My attorney has backed off the case and letting the company im sueing feel like they're running things. can me and the other plantiffs Profesionally make him request a deposition against the company we're sueing? We want to be Profesional about it We have completed all of our depositions but he lost a partner and just put us on the back burner ! We need help
Do you recommend setting a deposition with a 15 year old child caught in high conflict custody, parental alienation or intimate partner violence involved with corrupted state actors. Thank you!
