Ridiculous Spike Aerator Shoes

Which is the best aeration method? Core Aeration and Spike Aeration each have their place. I do prefer core aeration, but there may be times spike aeration could be beneficial, although some may say by using a spike aeration method, one is actually compacting the lawn beneath the spikes more. However, I can see it being beneficial in the short term or if needing to seed an area, or prepping a garden, etc.
