A rare Seeger song without the Silver Bullet Band backing. btw at 06:11 it's a double entendrré, "They do respect her but (butt) they love to watch her strut."
I saw him open for the Doobie Brothers in 1976, a month or two before LIVE BULLET came out. He only played 30 minutes or so, and I wanted more. I told the guys I was with that he could have eaten into the Doobies time and I wouldn't have minded. Alas, I never saw him again.
@@josephself2610 I saw him in 78 with no opening band. He played a long time. My younger sister, by 2 years, was a huge Seger fan. I bought tickets and taped them to her album. She screamed, then cried she was so happy. At the show she couldn't stand because her "knees were weak" she said. I watched her reaction for the first songs. I went to more concerts than she did. I loved his music too!
So glad you noted this too and brought attention to it. BEST play on words, yet it isn't commented upon in the reaction videos I've seen. Come on!! So obvious and so perfect. Bob Seger was a master of words, and he knew what he was doing with that excellent line!!
Bob Seger feels every word he sings, and you will too. The song "Come to Poppa" is very much like this track. Fun guitar work mixed in with a self-explanatory chorus that makes you want more.
Hell's to the tenth power of YES!!! Probably my favorite Seger song. Note: If you are playing in a bar band.... this song is phenomenal later in the night when the girls are well into a few beers. Super easy to get a 'strut' contest going.... ;)
Like how Andy's head goes up and down, but Alex's goes side to side. Great tune! Bob is the master! When I hear the lyric "they do respect her but...", I always think of putting two 't's on 'but'.
Always so glad when you guys do Seger. That said, don't deprive yourself anymore. You HAVE to check out Roll Me Away. I'll just leave it at that, thank you, and wish you a great week ahead. Rock on!
It was good... but I wish he'd hidden it the first time by shifting the but/butt to the next line ("but they loved to watch her strut") that time... then surprised us with it thereafter. Because he used it from the start, the joke felt a little like part of a corny country song.
Feel Like a Number is such a great song that fell by the way side but you can feel his frustration with the system that he has to "shout out to the ocean HEY IT'S ME "
Bob Seger has a fantastic catalog of songs, but ironically, my first song I heard of his, Rambling Gambling man is still my favorite. Never fails to get me revved up.
Seger has so many great tunes... mainstreet, we've got tonight, like a rock are some tunes I dont believe you have reviewed yet..., he literally has dozens of slow songs and hard rocking songs that are up in the A plus territory. Master story teller.
Bout time you fellas hit this song!! One of Seger's bangers!!! This would get everyone on their feet at his concerts. Next might be The Fire Down Below or Come to Poppa.
Surprised you didnt mention how the guitar riff can make you visualize a confident lady strutting to each note... at least that's what my interpretation has always been.... it's so clever!!! Loved the reaction
Bob has that way of taking you back to places and times....if you want a song that tugs on the emotions with nostalgia give "Fire Lake" a spin....always hits me in the feels.
Check out this version by Rodney Crowell and you'll understand why Seger covered it. It is an amazing tune. Bob did it right, too! th-cam.com/video/LeVboqujISI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YLYZq7wtagOEamk0
He played this at the performance my wife an I caught on his last farewell tour. As an introduction to it, he said this was the tune that was his MOTHER's favorite tune of his.
This song always makes me start moving, impossible to sit still. Bob Seger is so good. I guess he is retired now, at least retired from touring. I hope to be able to see him live again one day, he is incredible.
Trying To Live My Life Without You ( live ) from Nine Tonight is another banger. Such a groove and something you can’t help but sing it out loud. Perfect karaoke song. lol
Embarrassed to confess that l underrated the great Bob Seger back in the day. Corrective action has been undertaken in the last decade though. Great job, guys; keep up the good work 👍
As good a songwriter as his album stuff reveals, Bob was even better live. His live shows were non-stop, high energy blasts from beginning to end. Watching him live left you exhausted!
I love the album cover from this album. If you haven't heard Against the Wind (the song that the album was named for) then you should. Thanks for this one guys. I saw him live some years ago and it was a time I won't forget.
I didn't! I thought he was saying "but." I love those play on words type songs. On The Benny Hill Show, (a BBC program )they had a question that went like this. "Are you looking at me bum?" Do they mean me bum like (my butt)OR are they calling someone "a BUM?" ❤️🤍💙 🇺🇲 J. 🇺🇲
@JanetKing2035 The Brits don't use the word bum to mean vagrants. Especially that they use "me" prior to it, meaning "my", however Benny Hill was a wordsmith that he liked using play on words. The only way he could have used it in such a play on words, is it he said it patently as "are you looking at me, bum?" I'm not familiar with that skit, so I can't say. Likewise, I never heard the lyrics as "they do respect her butt." it's not really a play on words in that it doesn't make sense. the following line doesn't contradict the previous line and doesn't add on to the previous line as "they do respect her butt, and love her long legs." I think it's a reach to think otherwise, as Seger is a little more plain spoken and more artful than to put it so poorly. In other words, to me, if he wanted to say it as butt, he would have and not use silly word play to mean otherwise.
I was in the service with a bunch of Midwestern dudes. Had never heard of him, so they dragged me to a concert. Was evident that Bob had partaken a large amount of the local cannabis - he was baked! Bob and the band still put on a great show!
That remains THE perfect album cover...to airbrush onto the side of a 1979 Ford Econoline conersion van.
"Come to Poppa" is another must listen of Seger
Totally on point! Bob Seger is ecstasy ❤ love y’all
That driving, pumping groove is in FULL display on ‘Come to Poppa’ and I can’t wait for you to get to it 🔥👏👏👏
ALL GROVE WITH THAT ONE❗️
Couldn't agree more!
Yes definitely Come To Poppa! A funky banger with some stank on it!
A rare Seeger song without the Silver Bullet Band backing.
btw at 06:11 it's a double entendrré,
"They do respect her but (butt)
they love to watch her strut."
yes, yes, a thousand times YES!
"They do respect her butt" huge play on words! Bob Seger was one of the best 70s live shows I've ever seen!!
I saw him open for the Doobie Brothers in 1976, a month or two before LIVE BULLET came out. He only played 30 minutes or so, and I wanted more. I told the guys I was with that he could have eaten into the Doobies time and I wouldn't have minded.

With points of her own...sittin' way up high.
Yep!
So glad you noted this too and brought attention to it. BEST play on words, yet it isn't commented upon in the reaction videos I've seen. Come on!! So obvious and so perfect. Bob Seger was a master of words, and he knew what he was doing with that excellent line!!
What I love about Seger is he never went with the fads. Just straight forward rock and roll.
Jeeeez, I just love Seger so damn much.
P.S. I am 70 and I love to watch you discover the best music in the whole damn world.
Those of us around at that time, loved the album cover. 🤷♀️
A&A, the definition of BANGERS are Bob's "Katmandu" and "Rock And Roll Never Forgets" !!!!! Check them out!!
And Get out of Denver.
Sunspot Baby is a pretty good banger as well
@@leemiracle6840 That's the one I came here to recommend. Either is good--studio or live--but I'd probably opt for the live version for A&A.
Bob Seger singing "Sunspot Baby" or "Come To Papa" should be next!
Glad you finally got to this one! Now, check out "Come To Papa" next!!
Definitely! But don't forget Till It Shines.
“Fire Down Below” is even better.
Please, if you ever do a Bob Seger song again, consider doing Fire Down Below. 😊
Amen to that!
Excellent choice!
YESS!!! ❤💥
I can’t believe that they haven’t done that one yet!
Could not agree more
I really like "Beautiful Loser." it goes live as the second part of "Travelin' Man."
My favorite!❤️
Banger banger banger. . ROLL ME AWAY next please. Thanks guys
"Come To Poppa" needs to be on the list..
Rock and Roll Never Forgets! Bigger banger!
Bob is on the short list of greatest American entertainers. Ever. “Turn the Page” is the greatest ballad of my generation.
Bob is so great he can have any damn cover he wants and you’ll like it! 😏😂
.seger girl here....... love the Seger...forever!thanxgentlemen.love..............
Haha... that's what I said. Yeah - what she said. 💜 My Man 💜 4Ever.
Seger never fails!!! You guys have to do "Come to Poppa". Its funky and i almost guarantee you'll love it.
Bob Seger feels every word he sings, and you will too. The song "Come to Poppa" is very much like this track. Fun guitar work mixed in with a self-explanatory chorus that makes you want more.
Bob Seger once credited James Brown as his inspiration for singing balls-out all the time. I can hear that.
I have never heard a song from the master story teller that I didn't like. He is f----- awesome. Iconic
Favorite Seg bangers...Sunspot Baby and Fire Down Below.
Hell's to the tenth power of YES!!! Probably my favorite Seger song. Note: If you are playing in a bar band.... this song is phenomenal later in the night when the girls are well into a few beers. Super easy to get a 'strut' contest going.... ;)
Such an awesome band!! “You’ll Accomp’ny Me” is still my favorite!!🤘🔥
yes yes yes....THAT SONG!
Yes and don't forget, BEAUTIFUL LOSER great song
Was a heavy favorite with topless dancers in its day and probably still pops up .
Love the double entendre "They do respect her, but they love to watch her strut"
Like how Andy's head goes up and down, but Alex's goes side to side. Great tune! Bob is the master! When I hear the lyric "they do respect her but...", I always think of putting two 't's on 'but'.
That is definitely what Bob meant. Her butt :)
Always so glad when you guys do Seger. That said, don't deprive yourself anymore. You HAVE to check out Roll Me Away. I'll just leave it at that, thank you, and wish you a great week ahead. Rock on!
This.
Can never go wrong with Bob.I think the album cover is awesome.
Seger never disappoints!
Just Thank You for doing this. Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. I was right there with ya.
C’mon, it’s a perfectly fine album cover!
Impeccable rock voice.. unimpeachable and rarely matched.
"FIRE DOWN BELOW " is even better, IMO. Got to check it out.
Really clever lyrics, too!!❤
More like this one, "Fire Down Below", "Come to Papa"... Also "Roll Me Away" is awesome...
“Come to Papa” for sure ..👍🏼😁
I saw this concert tour. My first concert. Memphis 1980. I also have the promo poster for this album. A good story!
Such a great song paying tribute to some of the magic that a woman brings.
I love the double entendre “They DO respect her but/butt….”
More Bob Seger in the same vein would be "come to papa" and "fire down below" both bangers
I have a concert shirt from '83 with that album cover on the front! One of the best shows we ever saw!
One of the best Bob Seger and that's saying a ton. TY for this reaction. Keep 'em comin'.
Knew you’d love this song! Did you appreciate the double entendre in the chorus? So clever. . .
I was surprised they missed that!
It was good... but I wish he'd hidden it the first time by shifting the but/butt to the next line ("but they loved to watch her strut") that time... then surprised us with it thereafter. Because he used it from the start, the joke felt a little like part of a corny country song.
I'm not sure that has ever been missed. And anti-feminist anthem! 😆
Feel Like a Number is such a great song that fell by the way side but you can feel his frustration with the system that he has to "shout out to the ocean HEY IT'S ME "
Wait until you here Come To Poppa. Hot, hot hot!!!!!!! Alex is gonna love it.
Bob Seger has a fantastic catalog of songs, but ironically, my first song I heard of his, Rambling Gambling man is still my favorite. Never fails to get me revved up.
Yes, 'Come To Poppa' next
I love the album art for against the wind
Still listen to him constantly after all these years
I like that album cover….to each their own and LOVE Seger! He’s great live!
OH!!!! I cant believe you actually played this song!!!! So sexist and misogynistic! .... play it again please...
It took two years requesting y’all to play this. I’m finally glad you did. I knew you would like it.
Roll Me Away is an awesome tune of Bob's as well.
Surprised you didnt mention how the guitar riff can make you visualize a confident lady strutting to each note... at least that's what my interpretation has always been.... it's so clever!!! Loved the reaction
SAME!
You guys will love "Roll Me Away"! Seger rocks!
Bob Seger's Greatest Hits We Got Tonight
I always considered “Come To Papa” and “Fire Lake” as much of a banger.
Fire Lake! Yes. Love that tune, great story.
Fire Lake has always been my favorite!
I saw the live video from a concert in Largo, Maryland that he did in 1980 on TH-cam . And BTW But means however not butt, and it is verrrrry cool❤
Bob has that way of taking you back to places and times....if you want a song that tugs on the emotions with nostalgia give "Fire Lake" a spin....always hits me in the feels.
Love that track. Always so cryptic with the name checks; “You remember Uncle Joe, he was the one afraid to cut the cake.” Haunting track.
Having three members of The Eagles on backup vocals doesn't hurt either.
I love the song, "Fire Lake"
Yall really need to check out ''Betty Lou's Getting Out Tonight''
Seger plays every instrument on HER STRUT.
“Rock ‘n Roll never forgets.” Still my favorite. “ Feel Like A Number” is a great one, too.
I think you two are ready for Roll Me Away. Enough said. The song will speak for itself.
If you want gritty vocals, you must listen to his version of "Shame on The Moon".
Check out this version by Rodney Crowell and you'll understand why Seger covered it. It is an amazing tune. Bob did it right, too! th-cam.com/video/LeVboqujISI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YLYZq7wtagOEamk0
Was just listening to the "Beautiful Loser" album this morning.
PLEASE do the official video of "Roll Me Away".......you'll be BLOWN away! Remember, we never steer you wrong! Great job, guys.
He's awesome live
this song made me buy my first Bob Seger album. I loved it when i heard it when i was 15.
He played this at the performance my wife an I caught on his last farewell tour.
As an introduction to it, he said this was the tune that was his MOTHER's favorite tune of his.
Gotta go with “Roll Me Away.” One of those “Bob takes you on a journey songs.” It’s one of his best songs ever in my opinion.
Damn Andy you F'n nailed it - never thought about VH covering but it would have been perfect.
Like a rock. The guitar solo is epic !
Bob Seger plays the solo on this song and it KICKS ASS. 🔥
Yes, definitely a "very good song" as said by Alex. Love Bob Seger's intense male energy in this song 🔥
Gotta listen to “Roll Me Away” . One of Seger’s best and the most incredible lyrically of any of his songs.
This song always makes me start moving, impossible to sit still. Bob Seger is so good. I guess he is retired now, at least retired from touring. I hope to be able to see him live again one day, he is incredible.
I saw a cover show called Hollywood Nights in 2021 with a band chosen by him; they were really great
THe last time I saw him was in the early 80's (yes, I'm showing my age). Right in his prime and an excellent show.
Dirty gritty and perfect!! One of my faves
I think Andy was a little gobsmacked and left a little speechless. Great song and Bob has many just as good.
I have been waiting for your guys react to this Bob Seger track, a real banger!
Bob played the guitar solo as well!
Trying To Live My Life Without You ( live ) from Nine Tonight is another banger. Such a groove and something you can’t help but sing it out loud. Perfect karaoke song. lol
You are guaranteed to hear a live performance by me, every time that song comes on.
Come to Papa. A must

Same. He was always on my radar, but his work just gets easier to appreciate after you've had some more years of life experience and musical exposure.
One of his bests songs!
That album is like a Greatest hits, Great all the way thru.
High heels! If you could walk in high heels properly you had a STRUT! MAN I LOVED THOSE DAYS
@monaestrada6256 6 inch heels short skirts big hair man I loved the 80’s
I love the album cover from this album. If you haven't heard Against the Wind (the song that the album was named for) then you should. Thanks for this one guys. I saw him live some years ago and it was a time I won't forget.
Mr. Seger is a legend. Give your subs what they want. "Come to Poppa" off my favorite Seger LP Night Moves.
Keep it up gentlemen.
Roll me away will blow you away
So many good Seger songs. Check out Come to Papa, Shame on the Moon and Roll me Away. Love me some Bob, he's just so good.
Banger. Straight up. The tone.
Personally my fav of Bob’s songs.
Who else, as a youngster, sang the line: "They do respect her butt!" 😂
I didn't! I thought he was saying "but." I love those play on words type songs. On The Benny Hill Show, (a BBC program )they had a question that went like this. "Are you looking at me bum?" Do they mean me bum like (my butt)OR are they calling someone "a BUM?"

Thanks guys! Haven't heard this classic in a while. It's still as good today as it was all those years ago!
This one is high on my list of favorite Bob Seger songs. I really like how well this song flows from start to finish.
My fave by Seger.
I was in the service with a bunch of Midwestern dudes. Had never heard of him, so they dragged me to a concert. Was evident that Bob had partaken a large amount of the local cannabis - he was baked! Bob and the band still put on a great show!
thanks for the memory. I'd forgotten this song even existed. but its a great one !
