I was born and raised and Catalina island. Recently after 22 years living there I moved away. And let me tell you how homesick this video made me. Absolutely perfect video. The music , the drone footage. Everything. I appreciate this more than anyone else on here. Thank you.
I just got home..literally 30 mins ago home here in Oregon. Just spent 15 days on Catalina. We actually have generations of islander family there. The snack bar at the baseball field is named after our grandma. I absolutely love this place. I am now back home in Oregon on the coast here in Bandon and the cool climate has hit me w a sharp reality check. Again, what a well done video. I just swam at Shark Harbor by the two rocks and the boats there. At 13:35 at the very right edge of the screen is a plant. Just 3 days ago I had set my backpack there and spent the day swimming at Isthmus. Thanks for the great video and it really makes me sad leaving but this video in its entirety allows me to think about the amazing journey I just had. Thank you...

Beautiful Kraig. Great work! It is definitely a different and weird hike. You never really feel that you are in the backcountry so to speak. I couldn't imagine doing it in the summer. You are a beast. lol I'm with you...I prefer the mountains, but in the late winter when everything is green, it is really beautiful on the island.

Awesome video! We just finished this hike a couple days ago and I can't believe you brought just 1 liter of water on that loop from Two Harbors to Two Harbors. I brought 3L for that section and was worried it wasn't enough. First half to Parsons Landing was rough, going up, and down. Great stuff, Kraig!

Watching this reminded me of my trek back in 2019 with my dog. It was not as dry as your trek due to the unusual amount of rainfall we had that time of year. Definitely brought a smile to my face watching you stop and camp at the same places. Enjoyed reminiscing while watching this.

Hope you enjoyed your short stay on my home. Living in LA I've never gone to Catalina so definitely loved your idea and cinematography of this film. You do need to come back once the pandemic ends and head out to Channel Islands National Park and hike the beautiful islands. Santa Cruz is the biggest island with lots of hiking trails but my favorite island is Santa Rosa island just behind it. The beautiful desserted white sand beaches and the amazing hikes through the Torrey pines forests. I loved my time there. Just a great place to visit and camp.

Great depiction of the Trans Catalina. I use to live and work teaching kids about marine life of on the island pre pandemic and hope to return in February. It is definitely a very sun exposed hike and most people tend to hike it in the spring/ early summer while Catalina is full of green foliage and wildflowers. The Bison on there are no joke, they have them charge us and our work vehicles a few times. Glad to see all the footage from this hike, man I miss living there.
Thank you. When I was 25 years old 42 years ago I went there with a doctor friend ( I was a student ) on his sail boat. I was so sick had to get a hotel 🏨 and go back on big commercial to San Pedro. After the wordless, meditative first part it’s really interesting to get a breakdown of the hike with the all trails map plus the other info like cost and logistics. As someone who lives in Long Beach, where most people take the boat from to get there, this was the coolest notification to get. Catalina is awesome and if anyone is thinking about going once the chaos has subsided, I’m definitely recommending it.

Well done video. I spent a couple of summers there at the Catalina Marine Science Center 51 years ago. The Isthmus was much less developed in those days. Memories.
Just hiked this trail in early July. It was a bit of a boring hike, not much to see most of the time, and it was hot with no shade from the Sun so it was BRUTAL! I did enjoy the trails along the coast, and Little Harbor was really fun to be at. The water was refreshing and the rocks were fun to jump into. Glad to hear your take on it! Avalon was a neat city.
I did this hike a few years ago, it is hot and treeless! And that was in March, can't imagine doing it in the summer. Those bison are no joke, I had to make quite a few detours into the prickly pears to get around them. Really enjoy your channel, looking forward to your next adventure.

Super Nostalgia! Did this trail two years ago in early spring and it was entirely green grass as far as the eye could see. Also much cooler from the sound of it. Recognized so much, though I admit to doing it much slower over 5 days to get to go play in the towns and along the beach. That fog though is no joke, especially along the ridges where the wind whips through.

I went to catalina in 6th grade on a school field trip and i hope to go back one day. I went snorkeling and saw some full on bat rays! lol...it was one of the best experiences i've had.

I’ve been to Catalina many times. I live in Southern California. Never had the desire to do the Catalina Trail. Not enough trees for my taste. But if you like fishing it is definitely a great place to go. And I’m glad you got to see two harbors. Quaint little place. Great video man! Glad you came to my part of the planet. 👍🏼
As a former resident of Channel Islands, I used to visit Catalina Island often. After more than 20 trips, this was only the second time I've seen an offspring of one of the buffaloes (2:00) that William Wrigley (the chewing gum magnate) originally brought to the island around 1920. The Island is beautiful & a great place to relax.
The videos of your hikes are always very inspiring. Great work with the camera, it's a lot of hiking three or more times the same thing. Also love your ambient music, and the infos at the end.

Home sweet home. Used to run the horse trail of Catalina all the time. Done the hike to the airport but not to two harbors. Loved it.

Well done video. I spent a couple of summers there at the Catalina Marine Science Center 51 years ago. The Isthmus was much less developed in those days. Memories.
Just hiked this trail in early July. It was a bit of a boring hike, not much to see most of the time, and it was hot with no shade from the Sun so it was BRUTAL! I did enjoy the trails along the coast, and Little Harbor was really fun to be at. The water was refreshing and the rocks were fun to jump into. Glad to hear your take on it! Avalon was a neat city.

I did this hike a few years ago, it is hot and treeless! And that was in March, can't imagine doing it in the summer. Those bison are no joke, I had to make quite a few detours into the prickly pears to get around them. Really enjoy your channel, looking forward to your next adventure.

Super Nostalgia! Did this trail two years ago in early spring and it was entirely green grass as far as the eye could see. Also much cooler from the sound of it. Recognized so much, though I admit to doing it much slower over 5 days to get to go play in the towns and along the beach. That fog though is no joke, especially along the ridges where the wind whips through.
You should had gone to Catalina Island during late winter or spring when the grass is green and the sun isn't trying to kill you.

thanks for the vid...i liked how you kept it informative at the end and just let people enjoy it with some soft music. I went to catalina in 6th grade on a school field trip and i hope to go back one day. I went snorkeling and saw some full on bat rays! lol...it was one of the best experiences i've had.

I’ve been to Catalina many times. I live in Southern California. Never had the desire to do the Catalina Trail. Not enough trees for my taste. But if you like fishing it is definitely a great place to go. And I’m glad you got to see two harbors. Quaint little place. Great video man! Glad you came to my part of the planet. 👍🏼

As a former resident of Channel Islands, I used to visit Catalina Island often. After more than 20 trips, this was only the second time I've seen an offspring of one of the buffaloes (2:00) that William Wrigley (the chewing gum magnate) originally brought to the island around 1920. The Island is beautiful & a great place to relax.
I'm in the UK and was looking for a 3-4 day hike in California suitable for the autumn- I think I've found it! Great video, I'm sold
