      Until population levels in nations are addressed that is impossible. Our capitalist system and globalisation is also at odds with sustainable and green living practices.

      demonhalo67 i dont really want to get political or anything but we are living in the day and age where everything and everything is possible with the right minds and those willing to utilize. We found a bacteria that can eat plastic, why not breed and modify them to degrade them in a matter if months or years? Make them water recitant and non toxic. I dont want to stump human production by getting rid of capatalism or get rid of inovative techniques because those same bad things also led us into the age of acctually being able to find renewable energy, have the able to descover planets like ours which in time we can start a new and not screw up, to be able to genetically MODIFY things to make the more resistant, the competition in the market has led us to a conpatision to be better as well. And do i think that is a bad thing? No.

    Before I watch the second half of this video I want to comment on how this impacted me.
    I'm battling depression currently. Lost ability to cry, communicate with anyone I know, and know my path in life. I'm just a guy all alone in his mid 20s trying to take steps forward but keep getting knocked back. I know I can't die because that's something I never want to put my parents through. I was looking for somewhere to escape, or a country to move to. All those clips brought back memories and a rush of feelings. For the first time in weeks, I feel happy? Or something good. Hard to explain the rush coming over me. The beauty of nature can be incredibly healing, and I forget that far too often.
    Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

    Man, when I hiked the circuit back in '94, the glaciers were so much more plentiful. Global warming has taken its toll. Sad...But impressed that you carry so little with you for six days. I carried a huge backpack and had porters carry our food. You were also lucky with the weather. So many microclimates within Torres Del Paine. When I did it, we were pummeled by snow and rain and it was a herculean task to finish our hike. Of course, I don't remember running into so many cabins with opportunities to sleep and eat. I think things have changed since '94.

    Kraig it is very interesting to see you test different equipment to make the experience better. I did my own hiking film, mainly inspired by you, back in february in Tierra del Fuego. Filmed with sony a6100, brought 2 lenses. It was definitely a pain in the ass to be carrying 2 lenses, especially when it came to changing them while in the path. The quality change in this video is very apparent, but I felt like it didnt take away from the point of your videos, it was still beautiful, relaxing and meditative.
    Btw I think you should bring more of yourself into these videos, I miss the goofyness of your vlogs, I like how for example, in your Hornstransdir hike there's a part where you are walking on the beach and almost get your feet wet, that is what I enjoy about you, and I feel like it could bring a new spice to these hiking films, to see more of you, whilst still keeping that calmness and no commentary feel to it, I think it will be a challenge but definitely something worth trying.

      @@pradeepchandra6157 so many. parque nacional siete tazas is incredible, specially if you camp in el bolson (but its very popular during the summer). In santiago you have el cajon del maipo 1-2 hours away which is full of treks. In the south you have parque nacional conguillio which is also very popular but the most beautiful park in chile. And many more parks furhter south like the recently open parque patagonia. All "protected" and decently taken care of.

    I've always found it disturbing thinking how my actions dont amount for much in the great scheme of things. On all my journeys these thoughts are running through my mind when I sit back and gaze into the nature. The sheer size of it frightens me. On my recent travels through Wadi Rum in Jordan, I was sitting on top of this boulder like structure, with that harsh combination of sand and rock irritating my hands while I laid back, it felt like I do not belong here, almost as if my presence is an insult to this magnificent sight of sun rising over the horizon, over the Mars like environment. In an instant my thoughts get perplexed by the complexity of it all. I remember that I am sitting on this thing we call home that is blazing through the space million miles per hour, and we, and I, have no control of it. As I am watching the sun slowly ascending and bringing more colours to my morning, It strikes me that it has been doing that for the last 4.5 billion years and that my ancencesters 200 000 years ago probably had same question as I do. How is this possible? Not why or what for, but how? In seemingly infinite universe, both observed and unobserved, only we can ask that question but I am afraid the answer is not ours to give. What is left for us to do is to wonder, if we can only blame chance for it, is anything really impossible?

    • @Nico_cl
      @Nico_cl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      well, I don't think is chance at all, but the inevitable destiny of matter that follows the laws of physics and chemistry. It is really wonderful how everything came to be and the fact that we can actually understand it. That is crazy. As someone said: "We are a way for the cosmos to know itself"

      I had very similar thoughts on Wayna Picchu the peak in the background of Machu Picchu photos. I love that my group got to do this hike because it was much less crowded and commercialized than the main ruins. I sat on a rock and looked down into the valley deep deep below. There was no railing. I realized I could tip and tumble and in a second I'd be done for. A wave of feelings like I had never felt before washed over me. That I was/am so small and this world is so damn big. What is the purpose of this moment, this person I call "me" and the life I call "mine"? Does anything really matter in the grand scheme? Fuck man... makes me tear up just thinking about it. I gotta get back out there and see some more spectacular nature things!

One suggestion I have discovered for group campsites is always bring some earplugs as almost always someone, if not multiple people snore at night which can make it very hard to get a good nights sleep when camping with a large number of other people in a group campsite.
