Nicely done! You are lucky enough to get really cheap materials around there. I’m from The Bay and it is nearly impossible to find a cheap JWP around here. It makes me wanna take a road trip up there once this covid thing is over.
My dad probably distributed that particular pine from Iseli to your local nursery, he raises them moving them from propagation in the greenhouse to shipping out for distribution. That pine had a great shape for nursery stock
Way to go!!! Inspirational. I’m wondering whether having moss on the plant is good. It seems to me that the moss would compete with the tree for nutrients. What do you think.
New subscriber. Working around those nasty grafts is so frustrating. As much as I always hope on them blending in mine remain like blobs instead of nebari. Thanks
I didnt catch if you mentioned the soil mix you are using here? Also, do you mind describing the moss you top dressed with? Is that soaked sphagnum? I’m interested in the type and the why, thanks in advance!
Soil is optisorb (DE) mainly, I ended up remixing it with lava rock, perlite and peat. The moss is most likely sphagnum out of my yard. There's over 1400 varieties of moss so I I try not to guess.
Hello Ben B .! I have a small very boring looking Japanese White Pine and am a beginner at this. I’ve searched for months ( since May) for someone who had something like what I have and what to do . I was wondering if I could send an email and pic to you ? Adding a few questions. Im in Portland , Or. Would appreciate a little advice for the coming year. I have appreciated your videos documenting your process over time. Joanne
Great video, thanks for sharing! Have a blessed day.
great tree...great re-enactment!
I think it turned out good. Great job!
Just got a nursery stock white pine today . Super stoked to get it .
The music on your videos always makes me so happy
This episode shows the Importance of Patience and Perseverence.
Congraulaions on your care of the lovely White Pines!
just got a beautiful nursery aoi white pine today and so excited to start to bonsai it. Thanks for the video, very helpful to see your progress.
Very nice! Great work, and showing patience. Learned a thing or two. Thanks.
Tree looks great! I think you're making the right call with the new leader! Loved the reenactment!
I really enjoyed watching your video
Thank you SHabir!
I like what you did with the smaller pine. The taller one may look good as a formal upright style.

Beautiful!
Nicely done l can see the shape of it once you cut the rest of the thick trunk, after that it's going to look awesome

I’ve bought a couple of smaller iseli white pines and just bought a couple of small hinoki cypress outstanding quality
I agree white pines are elusive .even in the UK . Seeds are impossible to find. Trees are really expensive. But they are beautys. Thanks for vid.
hope you being more safe
What month did you chop the trunk? Fall ? Then mild repot innwarly spring ?
I think that leader at the top looks good from the front, especially when it thickens up.

Looks great, are you only chopping the last little bit of trunk at the top? I think that diagonal leader.
The trunk and branch at the top will go next winter. For now I'm leaving it as is so i don't cause to much bleeding now that we are near spring.
@@benbseattle wow you're going to make very short
I see white pine at nursery’s in my town they are usually around 200 dollars
