How many times have we heard, "I had to sacrifice so much for my family to do God's will"? If you've ever said that, you really need to go before the Lord and repent because He's going to call you on the carpet. What you've done is accused Him. - Paul Washer
Amen, Brother Yun talks a lot about this in his book (The Heavenly Man), talking about how he put his ministry above his family and nearly lost them because of it. He repented and said it goes like this: God first. Family second. Ministry third.
A question.... are you saying that the discples were also narcistic ? Because they left EVERYTHING to go into ministry(Matthew 19:27) Jesus also said Anyone who comes to me but refuses to let go of father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters-yes, even one's own self! -can't be my disciple.
Yes this is what Jesus says. I think it's worth taking into consideration since Christ is in fact our only authority. A soldier that is called into war Is required to make sacrifices. When God calls a man scripturally to follow the king of kings there maybe great sacrifices. I definitely hear what Washer is saying but passages such as the one you've quoted need to be considered as well. @@kalukiahbielesch1641
My father was a pastor for nearly 60 years. He went to heaven 3 years ago at age 95. He was never in the limelight, wasn't trying to "build his ministry" or make a name for himself, and the churches he pastored were not mega churches. No associate pastors or staff. Those years (before cell phones and computers) were spent studying to prepare 2 sermons every Sunday and 1 on Wednesday, driving the bus, leading the choir, cleaning the church, regularly visiting the sick and shut-ins, counseling, marrying, burying, baptizing, endeavoring to grow the Kingdom and grow his parishioners in their faith by ministering grace and truth to the congregations he was called to shepherd, and coming alongside them with compassion and prayer and tangible help in their times of need and hurt and emergency, all hours of the day and night. He even typed the Sunday bulletin (on an actual typewriter!) and cranked off the copies on the mimeograph machine in our garage. To make ends meet, he worked as a substitute teacher for awhile and also pumped gas at a local station. So was my precious Pappy always available to us at home when we were growing up? No. Did he apologize to me for that as he neared the end of this journey? He did. Did I ever doubt for one moment of my 70 years that he loved us? No. And I can't wait to see him again!
@@eugenejoseph7076 Hi Eugene. Dad also helped me with my homework and drove me to my piano lessons, attended our school functions, sporting events, etc. We ate supper together as a family every night around the kitchen table. And Pappy was always a cheerful playful funny patient person who loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart and life, and loved other people. So my point in commenting here was just to point out that a pastor can be fully dedicated to their calling and even put other people's needs first, and still have a family who loves and respects him and isn't resentful of him, a family who feels loved by him and not neglected by him. That's all I was saying. Thank you for not disrespecting my dad.
😥My mom fellowships with a congregation where the pastor teaches lies, prophecies using the name of the Lord in vain. A neo-pentecostal church. But the Lord has always been there 🥲🥹
I keep faith even as I struggle as a single mother. Both of my sons are special needs children. They require so much from me yet I know I AM BLESSED to be their mother. Lord Jesus give me strength as I struggle providing the basic necessities like clothing and groceries. Lord Jesus please continue to carry me through this difficult time help me provide for my boys so I can hold my head up.💕
I'm not a parent, but as someone who's had to babysit kids with special needs and had a glimpse of how much sacrifice their parents make, i want to say: Know that your labour is not in vain. The Lord will uphold you and will remain your strong tower. The work is hard, but very honourable
As a young pastor of a small church and with a family, I know how brutal it is for pride to settle in my heart and think, "Well, if I don't get this done, then ." And then I end up sacrificing my family on the altar when God never asked me to do that task in the first place. My "little church" (family) needs to take precedence; otherwise, how can I lead Christ's Bride? I'm learning quickly that fulfilling the expectations of others in the church will only feed my pride further and solidify a personality-driven church rather than a Spirit-led one. Some days are admittedly very hard.
Maybe not, the issue is the more load you carry the lazy ness of your "flock" Will increase. It ain’t nothing if everyone else is just turning up for some nice preaching.
@@ramoth777 it’s not a hard job. A Preist is a hard job, a Nun or Sister is difficult but how is giving a motivational talk that you have all week to prepare for is not hard. Everything else they do they tack on themselves.
I love how true testimonies bring the Bible to life again and again and again. It's alive! Paul wanted so bad to do something great for Christ, but Christ said no, it's me who will do something great for you! Look at how he gently showed and continues to show Paul his idolatry! And then not to leave it there, to then cleanse the heart and soul .. Is he doing the same with me daily? Yes! It's an incredible life!
This is a very helpful exposition of being faithful in the little lesson to being faithful in the much. It is a principle that you can see all the way through the Bible.
This is so so important and Countless ministers make this BIG MISTAKE!! In the end it just harbours resentment from your wife and children because DAD was never around when they needed him.
And I think it's even harder because they are then called selfish for not putting the church above themselves and for not being happy that their husband/father is doing such amazing work for God. This is why churches are supposed to have deacons and elders. Many hands make light work.
@@bunny_0288yeah the "church group "really needs needs a good admin person to organise all the biblical ideas that might be presented, so the people attending can feel they can be involved doing Gods work and have things to do in community with one another, not just sit thru a sermon and some nice music every week, then talk about sport, and the weather afterwards.. The preacher on Sunday is no more important than the guy or girl taking meals to the sick, or things to those in need.

@Amaberean Watch Washer's old sermons. He is infected with an unhealthy spirit. He claims God spoke to him in the wilderness. He's a victim of prelest.
This is why we need to walk by the Spirit who will guide us based on the Bible. If we instead, walk by the soul ( emotion/ machismo/logic/ reputation/approval of people etc) , we will be doing " good" things which may not be what God wants of us. I'm an Indian who went to England. I left England to sit as a mission doctor in an Indian Village. While I'm happy to do what God wants, I know the reputation of my ' sacrifice ' is building up and God can call me away anytime..i pray i will be sensitive to the Spirit and not go by my emotion
We serve the Lord as a family and try to follow the Lord's plan and only go through doors that He opens, trusting he'll give us strength to do it. If we want to impact our children, I'm convinced we must follow Christ all the more and trust Him with the results.
I cannot believe the headline!😮 I came up with these EXACT words for my own fam, after seeing my own husband serve for 20 years in a church. It was the Lord who showed me this reality recently. The Biblical truth is, the right order is God, FAMILY, then everything else. Most ministers don't understand, nor are they willing to prioritize in this order. That is why our families suffer, and there are disasters taking place in more ways we can count. For the ministry, God can always find somebody else to fill in that gap, but for our families, we as parents are IT.
The children of Billy Graham know this to well. They wrote books on how their father was always traveling and they were alone with their mom. It's sad back then they made it about the ministry over the family
Thai was so good.. good breakdown, yet could have went a lot longer in some areas.. I’m currently doing a study and teaching on my channel about the characteristics of a shepherd. So important
You never sacrifice your family for ministry. Your wife and children are your first ministry. God is not interested in our sacrifice, he’s interested in our obedience!
Ex husband has left us to "seek God and be happy"... and i warned him... but he didnt heed.. so iv released him over to God's wrath and judgment. So far, i see such a seared conscience and decieved/off revelations
@@goodolearkygal5746 A pastor can be evangelistic and an evangelist can be pastoral. Paul was both, as was Jesus. The point I was making was that if a Christian minister gets married and has children he must strive to become a good husband and father. That is the Lord's command . Some ministers become ''eunuchs tor the kingdom' as the Lord describes them, in that they devote themselves to the ministry without the distractions or blessings of a married life. But if a minister gets married , everything changes. Paul Washer makes this point well.
@@goodolearkygal5746Biblically, an evangelist would probably be what we call a “missionary” today. Not a pastor. Even though a pastor should do the work of an evangelist, he is not an evangelist in name.
How you treat your family is part of your witness. I know someone who led ministries, charities, gave millions for Christ is publically preaches the gospel, but his adult children won't speak to him. He cared more about what others thought of him than his own family. It's sad to watch.
i think it's a brainwashed person who cares only bout their kin and not about anyone else, it doesn't matter what kin think, it matters what the Maker thinks and what everybody in general think : they always want to pray for relatives, not for non relatives: they always adore their relatives, they can't adore anyone who ain't their relatives i think: they obsess over relatives but not over persons generally: i think this is sad and wrong, evil, immoral: only kin exist to them, no one else: so it's good when persons love others who ain't related to them and it's good when persons CARE bout others, who ain't their kin
@@oophelia46 i think the other extreme is most persons, i think most persons could not care less about people, for they ain't their relative, they only care about relatives: very few persons on earth i think don't care about relatives
@vegana13 you're very lucky to have that experience. Narcissists, including religious narcissists, care more about impressing strangers than caring about/for their own family.
And also those who can make a choice not to have a family. Why would there then be a command for a husband to love his wife like Christ loves the church if it was okay for a husband or a father to neglect family for ministry?
John 6:40 - And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Here’s something to chew on. THE MODERN PASTORAL MODEL IS A LOT TO BLAME. If you have a church led my multiple bivocational elders, then you don’t have to worry as much about a senior pastor “being all things to all people”. Also, bivocational elders can model serving in the church and working. Basically, they can’t do everything so the church body needs to step up and serve.
Noah had a good relationship with God, cared for his family and did what God, the father told him to do. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
My dad is a pastor. He left us in 2002 to the US. Suppported us financially, saying he’s doing God’s work there. He never went home to us in the Philippines. 21 years later we met, he wasn’t happy with the situation I was in with my now husband. He didn’t come to my wedding and when I asked why, he said its against his principles, never even asked how it went. I got married, it was a mixed born again/catholic wedding in a catholic church. 2 yeears later, he still not responding to my messages. Sad
Matthew 19:29 (KJV) 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
This verse comes to mind if you replace “money” with “time” since they’re both valuable resources and “father and mother” with “wife and children” or just “family:” 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. (It’s talking about giving money to the church instead of to your own family which is in need. In the same way, a man’s wife and children is in great need of his time and his money).
Matthew 25: 1-13 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him. 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut. 11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
This is somewhat unrelated but still on the subject of family. Anyone's advice would be great. I do not know what to do. My father is telling me to study something that I do not like. I have asked him if I could at least double-major, he says no I should focus on my career. He wants me to have a stable career, which I understand. I am torn because I have suffered breakdowns, feeling I am heading towards a career I dislike. I do not know where I should go in life. The Bible says "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right." (Ep. 6:1) and to Honor your father and mother (5th Commandment)... I do not want to disobey God, and I am struggling... I don't know what I should do. My mother tells me to double-major and do what I want to do. What is the biblical response to all this? Thank you for listening.
The Bible calls us to always honor our parents, but only children need to obey their parents. Children become adults in scripture at age 20. This is when men first served in the temple, the army, and were counted in the census. Daughters are different in that they remain under their fathers authority until marriage.
Perhaps you can work at that career he wants for 20 years or...years and then pivot toward your career ? Just giving another idea...my dad suggested I be a nurse, but I went for teaching...he wasn't against that choice though. But Life events..good ones ...I am now a factory worker...Not unhappy there. I'm 53. Get other godly peoples advice who know both you and your dad I pray wisdom for you
The problem is, many families ruin their peace because of fake pastors. God alone is true. It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence on a man.
God bless brother.. Message from KERALA (INDIA). " THE MINISTRY OF NOAH" ****************************** All Glory and Honour to our Lord and our master alone. Hallelujah
Bottom line is this: Paul the apostle said it is better not to marry as you will invested to the family with its concern. I just think if you decide to marry it would be better to wait for them to grow up so the burden wouldn't be so heavy.
None of this is really a problem, though is it? Because God meticulously determines everything that happens and there's no such thing as free will, RIGHT??
What about Jesus says : Matthew 10:37-39 New International Version (NIV) “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
The maniacal pastor/ missionary who sacrifices his family for evangelism is a fairly modern phenomenon and dispensationalism certainly contributed to the problem.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;(Romans 3:23) Jesus Christ the Son of God, God manifest in the flesh(John 1:14; 1Timothy 3:16) died for our sins, shed His precious blood for the remission of sin, was buried and rose again the third day.(1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 9:22) By believing on Christ Jesus, you receive eternal life.(John 6:47; Romans 6:23) Salvation cannot be earned/merited, it is a free gift of God’s grace received by faith in Jesus Christ alone.(Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:5, 3:24; Revelation 22:17)
Salvation If you believe that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah), The Son of God, and that He gives you eternal life simply for believing in Him, you have eternal life (John 20:31; 1 John 5:1, 10-11).
I don't think that we agree on this. Life in the flesh is one type of life. Life in the spirit another. No matter how hard you take care of your earthly family, you cannot guarantee that they're going to get saved. Do yourself a favour. Do what Jésus did. He wasn't cracking a joke when he said in Matthew 12:48-50. His family will always be those that do the will of God. Do not try to modify that définition. Your earthly family will always stand against your spiritual family. Jesus said "a man's foe shall be those of his household". Why, because even big pastors think that they can put their Earthly family way ahead. They're just being carnal with reason. Does it mean you have to ignore that family. Not so. You have to cause them to see the greater picture and to follow you with that in mind...
Jesus demands forsaking of family to put kingdom first. Sacrifice of family to do religious activities is not good. The whole family should work together in the kingdom. The real problem is the clergy laity system, too few doing kingdom work, spectators.
@@jsfoyer5769 any redeemed members of your family are part of the kingdom. Many people have replaced actual kingdom priorities with family. Family cults have taught family importance, but the gospels and Christs words are opposite of this. 5 seconds after you die, earthly family for you ceases to exist, you will only have Christ, or you will not. Setting correct priorities is very hard. Family hinders the calling of many saints.
Testimony: I’ll t try to keep it short- I remember being a part of a small church. I was a single mom set on fire for God and the Pastor saw this. I started in the Praise and worship ministry, then asked to do children’s church, part of a young women’s sisterhood and soon asked to start and oversee a children’s choir (but “seasonal”). BTW: I lived an hour away from the church and enjoyed doing these activities. I brought my girls along and had them involved in these things too hoping that I was “guiding them in the way ….so they won’t depart.” I whole heartedly believed this. I was wearing all of these hats and started to prepare and gather children and parents on board for the youth choir. I was so excited.🤗 2 weeks in, I developed a cold like sore throat but there was no mucus. I never experienced anything like that. The Pastor and wife saw this and panicked. A week before we were to sing, my throat was getting worse to the point that I couldn’t talk. He was so afraid of me talking that texting was his preferred way of checking in daily. The day came to sing. My throat was only 20% well but the kids was pretty much ok to sing. I prayed as I drove there. My throat seemed to get better as I drove but still not 100%. It was a small church which kinda was like family so I thought that they would understand if I sounded off. After all, I would only lead the kids but they sang the majority of the way. Once it was time to sing, my voice was at 100%😮. It was a good service. Strangely enough, my voice went back sore as I drove home. What pressed on my spirit on the way home was that I was doing too much. I was involved in too much. And God didn’t need all that. During my sickness, I played with my daughters. They were 7/8 and made me tea. They loved to see me home. I enjoyed that time. God spoke to me through scriptures and one of Paul Washer sermons supporting what God was showing me. I realized that although I was on fire for God, 2 things were happening: 1. I should never let someone to overload me 2. My first ministry are my children
Jesus does not have the same idea as Paul Washer::: “Everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times more, and he will obtain eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.” Mat 19.29
Matt. 19:29. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. AMAZING.
The Fathers teaches everyone that God exists. Through the creation! Not one will have the excuse that they do not see God exists, being understood from observing the Creation Romans1: 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. The Father is not the saviour, that is the role of the Son, The Messiah, The Lord Jesus, The Christ! Those that then desire God , they are taught by the Father as this verse shows: and the Father sends them that believe that God exists to the Son. It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. John 6:45 So when Jesus said that: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. John 6:44 It is simple saying that the Father makes all men aware that God exists and sends those who respond to the Father to Jesus. The will of the Father is in verse 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” BUT! not all men will respond even though they have no excuse. They know God exists but they made their choice. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools Romans 1:21-22 Paul verifies this to Timothy: This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. 1 Timothy 2 : 3-6 The Holy Spirit comes into play in a special personal way only once a person whom the Father sends to the Son for salvation is born again. Those who willingly desire to be right with God. Those who Repent and are Baptized. The Holy spirit indwells the Christian as counsellor and guide. John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. (Such as deformed 5-point Calvinism.) JESUS John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life Truth in love

I used to be a fan of Paul Washer but there is no picture in scripture of salvation being a lifelong angst ridden meditation of one's own sinfulness . He's always so filled with angst
I agree. Christianity should bring joy and freedom, and this guy always seems absolutely miserable. And I do think it’s fair to criticize Christian teachers that are in the public eye because so many people are following them. Being discerning shouldn’t be thrown out in favor of “not causing division.” The more famous a Christian teacher is, the more careful we should be as a body about discerning the teaching and fruit.
I get the point you are making, but the Bible is full of many different characters. Abraham and Isaac are rich, but Lazarus and Epaphroditus are stricken. Sarah is a laugher, but Jeremiah a weeping prophet. There is joy in the Lord, but others have burdens that not everyone carries. We are all blessed and assigned differently by the Lord, so, “Only, as the Lord hath distributed to each man, as God hath called each, so let him walk.” 1 Corinthians 7:17
@@lorrancelewis7120 I don’t know what’s your definition of the phrase “meditation of our sinfulness”, which you are applying to Paul Washer, so I don’t know if my answer will be satisfactory. But in the New Testament, Paul wrote to the Corinthians confronting them on sin, and praised their “godly sorrow that brought them to repentance” He also told them to “try your own selves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves.” (2 Corinthians 13:5) And to the Philippians, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”. I was addressing more the accusation of him being “constantly in angst”, which I think there is a principle for it in the Bible.
Nobody can’t sacrifice family for God because God is for the family. People sacrifice their family on yhe altar of their own fufillment, while thinking they are serving God. The Bible teaches that is anyone neglzct his household, he/she is worst than an unveliever.
The same with the Osteens. Osteen Sr. married way too early (I think he was something like 19 years old), preoccupied too much in ministry works with that immaturity which paved the way for the divorce and raising a generation of apostasy.
As usual….it’s a condition of the heart. If you were following the will of God, as He was directing you in your life….and you were meant to be devoted to ministry, you’d never have been married or had kids in the first place. There’s also seasons…..so yeah.
Paul Washer has repeated in several sermons and teachings that he would kill for his daughter! Is this really a teaching of Christ? If he speaks in his own name I understand but if he speaks in the name of God and he should never say these things! I have known people who lost their children to murder and they had the grace of God to forgive! As Mr. Washer has said to several it is that he would do it! He has a flaw in his teaching and he has perpetuated it
28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. 29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Meh. Kind of out of context since it’s talking about men that actually lived physically with Jesus on earth and was commanded audibly in person to leave their families and follow Him for a specific purpose. This verse also comes to mind if you replace “money” with “time” since they’re both valuable resources and “father and mother” with “wife and children” or just “family:” 3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. 5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; 6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. (It’s talking about giving money to the church instead of to your own family which is in need. In the same way, a man’s wife and children is in great need of his time and his money).

I don’t know Mr. Washer, so I could be way off-base here. I’ve listened to his sermons and watched his sermons, for years and years. And one of the biggest impression that I get from Mr. Washer is: (and I could be completely Wrong) He strikes me as the most UNHAPPY christian I’ve ever seen. He is simply not one of the people that I would think of when I hear the words “joyful Christian”. And believe me, I hope I’m mistaken, but I just find him depressing.
I know Paul personally and am close with him. He has much joy for the lord! But he has a lot of heath problems and a huge burden for the unsaved so it can come off as depression but it’s he’s demeanor
@@austinwickline550 I hope he has “joy in the Lord” but if so, he hides it well. Lol. I remember seeing an interview with his wife. Apparently she would have some of those “nagging doubts” that (correct me if I’m wrong) that most of us Christian’s can have sometimes. I know in my fifty years of being a Christian that sometimes I would get so overwhelmed by the sin(s) I find within my own heart that I that I start “down that road” of “I’m so messed up right now” that I’d wonder about my OWN salvation. Well, if my wife was in that phase I hope I would be a little more understanding and relay my own experiences in that area and say ‘let’s work through this together’. But all he would say was “I don’t know if you’re really a Christian. Maybe you’re not.” Basically telling her she’d have to work it out with the Lord herself. I’m Sorry, but when you’re so dour (sour) that you feel you can’t even comfort, encourage, or show some support in her hour of need… Well, all I can say is I can’t even comprehend responding to my loved wife with a response like that. But the point I want to make is- After watching and listening to him for years, What he said did not SURPRISE me. I just hope that there’s more on the INSIDE than he shows. Maybe it’s a “Calvinist Thing”. I attended Grace Community Church for years. And quite honestly, while I learned a lot and benefited from going there, I always thought that a lot of the “Doctrine” in their heads just remained there in their heads. Not a real joyous bunch. If a person knows they get to spend eternity with the Lord where there is “joy and pleasures evermore”, You’d’ think they would seem a little more happy about it once in awhile. Btw, I do not in the least mean this to be critical. I really don’t. Just relating my observations.
This is just a quick voice-over I made because the original audio was barely audible, as there was no microphone for the person asking the question. My apologies for how the question is read.
Not true! Listen properly to his sermons. He ALWAYS emphasises that NOTHING we do EVER earns favour with God. He is totally Christ centered and Gospel entered
@@kathygraham9708 I’ve listened. I understand he does not typically front load works (i.e., explicitly saying works are required to be saved). He’s far more subtle. He back loads works by suggesting “of course works do not save, but saving faith is always accompanied by works.” Hogwash. Works are not required to be saved or to prove we are saved.
@@YAHWEH-YESHUA-MINISTRIES the Gospel is contained at 1 Cor. 15:1-4. It states that believing in Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection are all that is required for permanent and irrevocable salvation. John 3:16, Titus 3:5, Romans 4:5, 1 John 5:13. If you believe that salvation requires works, you are unsaved and on your way to hell.
This is pretty horrible. This is what happens when following Jesus becomes a pejorative. Jesus is clear that unless you hate your family you can’t follow Him.
Sounds like you didn't listen to the whole thing at all if you came to that conclusion. God is not a God of disorder. If God gives commands on family life, you can't just ignore them no matter what ministry you're doing.
@@raymondhorton4664 Lordship salvation is the idea that one makes Jesus Lord. The biggest problem with this idea is Jesus is already Lord and to claim we make his Lord strips Jesus of a title He Himself claims. The second problem with this is it claims we repent of sin when the Bible clearly tells us we cannot. Repent means to change our mind, if it means turn from sin then God turns from sin every time he repented in the Bible, therefore we know repent cannot mean turn from sin.
@@jarodchronister3522 Well said. Jesus died once and for all. You might like Bob George, he has a lecture on the New Covenant discussing similar things.

Jesus also said Anyone who comes to me but refuses to let go of father, mother, spouse, children, brothers, sisters-yes, even one's own self!

LET HE RESTS IN PEACE AND HE WILL BE RAISED IN HUGE GLORY WIT HIS LORD JESUS CHRIST

With all due respect, What kind of christians would let a pastor do everything, unless he wanted to control everything?
This can also be said about mother's too. My mom spend so much time with pioneer girls and teaching Bible study, that she forgot about me.

I love how true testimonies bring the Bible to life again and again and again. It's alive! And then not to leave it there, to then cleanse the heart and soul .. Is he doing the same with me daily? Yes! It's an incredible life!
Brilliant answer! Much needed in the church today.
This is very sobering and rooted in truth.
This is why we need to walk by the Spirit who will guide us based on the Bible. If we instead, walk by the soul ( emotion/ machismo/logic/ reputation/approval of people etc) , we will be doing " good" things which may not be what God wants of us. Thank you, tell it to my husband.
I m a single mom with three kids for every 4-6 weeks because of ministry

Is an evangelist a pastor?
@@goodolearkygal5746 A pastor can be evangelistic and an evangelist can be pastoral. Paul was both, as was Jesus. The point I was making was that if a Christian minister gets married and has children he must strive to become a good husband and father. That is the Lord's command . Some ministers become ''eunuchs tor the kingdom' as the Lord describes them, in that they devote themselves to the ministry without the distractions or blessings of a married life. Here’s something to chew on. THE MODERN PASTORAL MODEL IS A LOT TO BLAME. If you have a church led my multiple bivocational elders, then you don’t have to worry as much about a senior pastor “being all things to all people”.
Perhaps you can work at that career he wants for 20 years or...years and then pivot toward your career ? obedience not sacrifice?
Wow
None of this is really a problem, though is it? Because God meticulously determines everything that happens and there's no such thing as free will, RIGHT??
What about Jesus says : Matthew 10:37-39 New International Version (NIV)
“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
The maniacal pastor/ missionary who sacrifices his family for evangelism is a fairly modern phenomenon and dispensationalism certainly contributed to the problem.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;(Romans 3:23)
Jesus Christ the Son of God, God manifest in the flesh(John 1:14; 1Timothy 3:16) died for our sins, shed His precious blood for the remission of sin, was buried and rose again the third day.(1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 9:22)
By believing on Christ Jesus, you receive eternal life.(John 6:47; Romans 6:23)
Salvation cannot be earned/merited, it is a free gift of God’s grace received by faith in Jesus Christ alone.(Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Romans 4:5, 3:24; Revelation 22:17)
Salvation
If you believe that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah), The Son of God, and that He gives you eternal life simply for believing in Him, you have eternal life (John 20:31; 1 John 5:1, 10-11).
Your family is supposed to be an actual part of the Kingdom. So serving your family in God’s way is serving the putpose of the Kingdom.
His going to call you on the carpet??
Testimony:
I’ll t try to keep it short-
I remember being a part of a small church.
I was so excited.🤗
2 weeks in, I developed a cold like sore throat but there was no mucus.
I realized that although I was on fire for God, 2 things were happening:
1. I should never let someone to overload me
2. My first ministry are my children
This is why Priests are Not married… so they can dedicate their FULL attention and time to the Church and their flock!! ✝️
Jesus does not have the same idea as Paul Washer::: “Everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times more, and he will obtain eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.”
Mat 19.29
Mark 10:28 says the opposite of what he just said so believe him or the Bible
Matt.
Not one will have the excuse that they do not see God exists, being understood from observing the Creation
Romans1: 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
John 6:45
So when Jesus said that: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. John 6:44
It is simple saying that the Father makes all men aware that God exists and sends those who respond to the Father to Jesus. The will of the Father is in verse 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
BUT! not all men will respond even though they have no excuse. They know God exists but they made their choice.
For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools Romans 1:21-22
Paul verifies this to Timothy: This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. 1 Timothy 2 : 3-6
The Holy Spirit comes into play in a special personal way only once a person whom the Father sends to the Son for salvation is born again.
(Such as deformed 5-point Calvinism.)
JESUS John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

We are all blessed and assigned differently by the Lord, so,
“Only, as the Lord hath distributed to each man, as God hath called each, so let him walk.”
1 Corinthians 7:17
@@20fsj-63shoker nothing in the new Testament shows we are supposed to be in a constant meditation of our sinfulness.
@@lorrancelewis7120
I don’t know what’s your definition of the phrase “meditation of our sinfulness”, which you are applying to Paul Washer, so I don’t know if my answer will be satisfactory.
But in the New Testament, Paul wrote to the Corinthians confronting them on sin, and praised their “godly sorrow that brought them to repentance”
He also told them to “try your own selves, whether ye are in the faith; prove your own selves.”
(2 Corinthians 13:5)
And to the Philippians, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling”.
I was addressing more the accusation of him being “constantly in angst”, which I think there is a principle for it in the Bible.
Sacrifice family for God and you just got divorced and raised Andy Stanley. YIKES!
He has a flaw in his teaching and he has perpetuated it
The stand alone pastor is a clever fabrication. Churches are to be overseen by pastorS. Also known as elders.
Ian go with daddy? Daddy stay with ian? Most "Cats in the cradle" thing I ever heard.
28 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.
29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
Amen, thanks for using scripture over feelings. I think people use their families as an excuse.
Meh. Kind of out of context since it’s talking about men that actually lived physically with Jesus on earth and was commanded audibly in person to leave their families and follow Him for a specific purpose. This verse also comes to mind if you replace “money” with “time” since they’re both valuable resources and “father and mother” with “wife and children” or just “family:”
3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
(It’s talking about giving money to the church instead of to your own family which is in need. In the same way, a man’s wife and children is in great need of his time and his money).

Its all wrong... washer is just a false teacher... open your eyes!
HE CARES ABOUT CHRISTIANS ....AND OUR WORLDLY WAYS...
Maybe you’re not.”
Basically telling her she’d have to work it out with the Lord herself.
I’m Sorry, but when you’re so dour (sour) that you feel you can’t even comfort, encourage, or show some support in her hour of need…
Well, all I can say is I can’t even comprehend responding to my loved wife with a response like that.
If a person knows they get to spend eternity with the Lord where there is “joy and pleasures evermore”,
You’d’ think they would seem a little more happy about it once in awhile.
Btw, I do not in the least mean this to be critical. I really don’t. Just relating my observations.
Why are the questions asked in such a strange voice. It is actually quite off putting. Is he even there?
This is just a quick voice-over I made because the original audio was barely audible, as there was no microphone for the person asking the question. My apologies for how the question is read.
Thank you for the explanation. That is fine. As long as it was a real question!

It’s always hard to listen to Paul because he’s a works trusting Calvinist who believes that Jesus Christ’s payment on the cross was not enough.

Paul is a false teacher that teaches lordship salvation. I would use great caution when listening to him.
What is Lordship Salvation?
@@raymondhorton4664 Lordship salvation is the idea that one makes Jesus Lord. The biggest problem with this idea is Jesus is already Lord and to claim we make his Lord strips Jesus of a title He Himself claims. The second problem with this is it claims we repent of sin when the Bible clearly tells us we cannot. Repent means to change our mind, if it means turn from sin then God turns from sin every time he repented in the Bible, therefore we know repent cannot mean turn from sin.
