Things have changed. It is 3 Jan 2023 and when clicking the switch it immediately springs back to "On", as do all the other protection options. An MS Forum MVP informed it is not possible to disable Defender unless a third party A/V is installed. A new feature that further removes your control of your own computer. Install a 3rd party a/v which allows control.

*This does not work as shown on my Windows 11....*
There is no option shown to disable anything. I go to *Settings>Privacy & Security>Virus & Threat Protection,* but the windows that opens up looks totally different from what opens up in your video. I think it is because I just bought this laptop and it still is running a trial version of *McAfee Total Protection.*

You can literally just type "security" in the search bar & it takes you straight to windows security. But it doesn't matter because even if you switch it off, in 2024+ Windows Defender will still quarantine items you don't want it to and potentially brick your software if you don't find & restore the quarantined items before it removes them permanently against your will. I despise windows. If this happens to you just know you will have to re-install or extract -> drag & drop files to correct places for programs to work again. Keep original archived copies of anything you don't want to lose access to.
