    A way to use the doodads feature on circles is to grid fill them. Thanks a lot for bringing this to our attention! I will definitely be using it!

    Glad this is still in Blender. You mention doodads and needing quads. Have you tried to grid fill the circle?

    • @Littlerolz
      @Littlerolz  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah you can do that! You would just need to fill it with various faces made up from quads like you say. I was more just illustrating the point here so if someone was following along and had a big round structure they were using them they would likely need to alter it first to make it work

  • @storeboughtrocketgames2560

    Looks nice, but I don't think this would work well for a game as it looks like it gets really high poly when you start adding a lot of little intrusions in small spaces. Would be interested to see how this is done for games bcz I do see it there as well.

    Here is my nerd moment!
    The trench run does not happen in the equatorial trench. If you remember: that is the same trench that the hangars are located in and we see that it is probably kilometres wide. The trench run happens in a longitudinal trench towards the "top" of the station. It is one of many, all of which had ventilation at the end of them. Its just that this one specific shaft led to part of the reactor system. Additional fact: The trenches in Star Wars models often came about because making two half spheres out of the right material that fit perfectly is really hard. The trench disguises imperfections. If you look at the original concepts the Deathstar is a perfect sphere. Other models have trenches for similar reasons (Millennium Falcon for example).

    How did you get yours to display the changes in real time with edits in the menu? I have to hit ok to actually see anything change

    • @Littlerolz
      @Littlerolz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can hit ok and after it’s done the first one. Then similar to when you add a new object you get the context menu in the bottom left corner where you can tweak the settings there

  • @stealthinator00
    @stealthinator00 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    The panels are called greebles. In the model making world it is a easy way to add detail and scale to any sci fi objects and ships.
    Without greebles not only do the ships would look boring but would lose the sense of scale.

    Hi! I would like to ask some help with 3D modelling a part of a SW vehicle. If you agree, we may discuss it in private.
    I have managed to model most of the parts in Sketchup, but the main hull simply gets me mad.
    I think it won't take more than 15 minutes for an experinced user like you. Thank you in advance.

    It probably wouldn't have hurt the video any if we dispensed with the movie clips. They really are not adding anything useful.
