My 2006 G22 died in the middle of a ride. Came to a stop, pressed the pedal and everything just stopped but my battery showed a full charge. Flipped to Tow to push it but decided to try it again, flipped to run , heard a click, hit the pedal and went about a foot before it stopped again. Now thanks to this video I have a pretty good idea what the issue is!!! Thank!!!!
Great detailed video! My Dad's Yamaha Golf Cart is getting a charge. When I turn the key on, I hear the solenoid clip a couple of times. The reverse switch beeps, but when I press the throttle in both drive positions nothing happens. However, if I press the throttle while pushing off the ground with my other foot to move it forward, then it starts and continues to move but almost in a stuttering start and stop way, as if the something is slipping, or not making a good connection. If you have any thoughts as to what it might be, or what I should check, I'd greatly appreciate it. I believe it is a model YDRE G29.
I have a g29 48v with no power getting to the rest of the cart. No beep in reverse, nothing when I step on the pedal. I tried replacing the controller, not that. Checked all of the wiring, not that. Batteries are brand new. The only thing left is the solenoid but it clicks when I switch from tow to run. Any thoughts?
My 2006 48 v yamaha wont go but reverse buzzer beep continuously if swithched out of Tow mode. batteries all good and charged. Im suspecting F/R switch?
I have a G29 and I don't hear the solenoid click, I have 49 V on both sides of the solenoid when the key is on or off, dealer told me it was a controller, but I think they were trying to get money from me. I picked it up and brought it home trying to fix it myself, Any help would be appreciated
My G22 appears to have the same problem. The fault was intermittent at first but has now become permanent. Could a faulty solenoid cause an intermittent failure?
This is normal. Switching from Tow to Run enables the controller to work and its performing its self check. If you are able to drive it with the key off, then you have a wiring issue.
Batteries are definitely installed. At the moment, I am far away from the cart, but I am an electrician, and, I hooked it up exactly the way it had been, and it ran fine for about a week, then it quit, so I switched from run to. Tow, and heard a loud click/reset, and a way it goes but only for a short distance, rinse and repeat.
Question.. My solenoid seems to be working(clicks when you switch to run from tow mode, anti roll feature)(voltage good), controller (buzzes in reverse/anti roll buzzes), checked the motor(good).. What else could it be? help please..
@@Kevinsgolfcarts I like your videos Kevin! I have a 2009 (JW2-208.... YDREG) that I let a "friend" use for a few weeks. A few days ago he was seen towing it with another person's golf cart. The next day he called me to tell me that the "cart doesn't move"! I'm not sure why he towed the cart in the first place, but I seriously doubt that he flipped the run/tow switch. (I've forgotten to do that myself on occasion) The cart now rolls freely regardless of tow/run switch, the solenoid does not click, batteries at 53.4 V, all 12 volt accessories are working fine. Somewhere, I read that there is a red reset switch on the motor, but I am unable to locate it. Should this cart have a reset switch? (Right now I'm hoping it's the solenoid - I'll check the voltage per your video)
As a mechanic for golf cars myself, I always find it ironic how there's always a back seat installed when you need to repair anything on the rear of the car.
I have a 2005 Yamaha g22. I have now replaced the battery cables, batteries, pedal switch, on/off switch, forward/reverse switch and the solenoid. I still have no click from the solenoid what next?
You need a multimeter and make sure you are getting power throughout the run circuit. There is a 10 amp fuse by the controller. If thats blown, nothing will work that runs through it. If that's good, then you may have a bad controller.
You don't have to but it will make it a lot easier. I usually remove seat kits as an assembly. There are usually only 6 bolts in total holding the seat kit to the cart.
My G22 stopped moving, batteries good and charged, when key is turned on the solenoid clicks several times but cart wont move, power switch in run position, solenoid is obviously getting voltage, what next to check??
With the key on or off, cart in forward, brake released on flat ground, push the cart. Does it beep and give resistance (anti-roll away warning)? If there is no resistance, then the solenoid is probably bad. Clicking doesn't mean its working correctly. You will need to get in there with a volt meter and see if there is voltage on both sides of the large terminals.
Have a question. My 48v Yamaha when switch is turned on can hear the solenoid click but as soon as hit the peddle it try’s to move then stops and that’s it. It started doing this over storage Battery’s are hot.
Hello Kevin, I replaced the solenoid, worked for a bit then now it stutters and doesn’t run full speed....also just stops after short run, have to push it backwards a little then go forward to move..any ideas... Controller maybe?
I have 2006 G22e and it just stopped moving last week. Tried a new solenoid but no luck. It clicks like normal when I turn the key to “on” position... what else should I check?
I have two 2019 Drive 2's 48 volt... Just like most on this chain, mine both run, lose power, solenoids click, flip run tow switch, both work temporaily and die... repeat process or let them sit. Batteries are fully charged. HELP!!!

Hey…did this video fix the issue with your golf cart? Ours is doing the same thing as yours did
any update on what is was? mine is doing the same !
Thanks!
Thank you!
Thanks buddy! Helped a lot! Found a broken wire at the connector!
Really appreciate the video and explanation-it helped us fix our cart!
What if you have no voltage on the first switch that you had 39 volts
What are the conditions necessary to get it to energize? key on? Brake pedal? accelerator pedal on?
Is there a way to set speed control, ours goes super fast in reverse

Did u fix it
Mine doin same thing. What happened?

Same golf cart but mine runs about 30min, then starts acting like dead batterys. If I flip to tow mode then to runs it starts moving again any ideas ?
I have the same problem, what did you do to fix it ????
Thanks, this helped me figure out what was wrong with my 2005 Yamaha. I'll follow along when I replace the solenoid. Great video!
I'm glad this helped! Thank you for watching!
Excellent vid, my exact cart and issue. Thanks
Hi, anychance of a quick video of G22E worong of the tow/run switch please.
Hi in my same model and year i don't get in 48v in the first conector do you know what the power is coming from?
when did the first test and showed 48 volts was it in run and did have to push the pedal to get the reading?

Hi. Did you get a resolution to this? My cart is doing exactly that. No reverse beep, nothing happens when I press the pedal.
My cart is a 2002 g19e and it will go in reverse for about 10ft and drive for about 2ft then stop any suggestions
I replaced the solenoid in a 2006 Yamaha G 29 and I don’t know where to look. I have no power I put it on run no power where do I start looking?
My 2006 48 v yamaha wont go but reverse buzzer beep continuously if swithched out of Tow mode. batteries all good and charged. Im suspecting F/R switch?
Whats round on floor under cart???
Floor drain
what did u test to show it was the solenoid?
Completely helpful thank you
How to know where to connect cables to the new one.?
Does it have negative and positive marks on it thanks
These are not polarized and the body is isolated from the vehicle electrically.
I know this is probably old, but does a solenoid waste stay hot on an electric golf cart with the? key off?
No. They shut off after you release the accelerator pedal.

No solenoid click = replace the solenoid for $35.
My 2006 Yamaha 48volt cart stopped working replaced solenoid and still nothing what else can it be
My G22 appears to have the same problem. The fault was intermittent at first but has now become permanent. Could a faulty solenoid cause an intermittent failure?
In most cases, yes. You will have to do a voltage test across the solenoid terminals to determine if voltage is making it across when its closed.
Kevin's Golf Carts Great. Thanks very much 👍🏻
My 2005 g22e works with the key in the off position when I switch it from tow to run even with the key in the off position I hear the solenoid click

What is the connector wire that connects to small bolts on solenoid?
Maybe a dumb question but is it normal to run a 48v motor with 36v battery? Thanks
Not really.
Where is the access point for the black cover?
Can you post a picture of how all the batteries are set up in your cart. I want to make sure I connected everything correctly.

First, what kind of cart do you have? The troubleshooting process will be a little different depending on the cart.
I have the exact same issue and I have new batteries, new solenoid and new pedal switch and my G22E still does not run. Did you ever figure it out?

Is there not suppose to be a resistor on the solenoid
No.

Ohhhhhhh yeah. They always block the perfect angle to work.

@@Kevinsgolfcarts ok, I'll let you know what I find out, thanks for the reply
Ok, did what you suggested, key on, in forward, level ground. Pushed cart by hand, there was no resistance or audible alarm
my charger continues to say " incomplete " even though it checks 52 volts with an amp meter .. cart wont move .
If the solenoid clicks that means its good?
No. You need to test with a volt/multi-meter.
@@Kevinsgolfcarts ok thank u for your response!
Can I bypass the tow switch on a Yamaha golf cart
Why would you need to? If its not working, replace it with the same type of switch.
