Most likely it's because it takes a lot of time/energy to write, memorize, rehearse, and perform the jokes. The only way you'd understand is if you tried to become a comedian. Then you'd be like oh I see this isn't as easy as I thought it was.
Why do so many people complain about bit repetition when you KNOW they are going to a, say, Eagles' concert, screaming for "Take It Easy" which the poor band has been playing since 1972??!! Comedians have greatest hits too!!
