This looks way better but feels way less rewarding to play than any other Diablo I've played

As soon as I beat the campaign with my sorc, I did a few tree of whispers, a nightmare dungeon, and was immediately bored with the endgame. People rush thru the campaign for the endgame, when the campaign was the best part of the game.

First Diablo I've played, and played them all, where I didn't finish the story or do multi builds, it's just...not unique enough. It's too safe.
I'm playing Street Fighter 6 instead and then first Street Fighter in 30 years for me.

100%. I played every Diablo game. Each for months on end.
This...I literally gave up because of boredom and lack of those...dopamine hits you usually get in ARPGs.
I think from reaching level 50ish I did not find a single item that I could replace in my gear. I am level 66.
The stats seem meaningless because there are just too many affixes to choose from:
      - dmg to injured
      -dmg to stunned
      -dmg to poisoned
      -dmg to slowed
      -dmg to crowed controlled
      -dmg to distant
      -dmg to close
      -dmg to vulnerable
      WTF????
And it feels like each stat can roll on any item...which makes finding the right configuration....nearly impossible.
Chance of finding good piece of gear with affixes that you want seems impossible and most importantly makes that next piece of gear you chase too far away.
Good ARPG dangles that carrot right in front of you. Next boss, next mob, next dungeon. But when you get nothing for 10 levels (which by the way go real slow after level 50)...it just becomes, a boring, repetitive grind.
It's crazy how Blizzard have not learned anything from D3.
I'm sure they will fix and rebalance a lot of those issues in the next 6 months or so. But for now...meh.

Gotta be honest, I feel like a lot of the difficulty issues are class specific. I never really had this much trouble with level scaling and bosses until endgame because I picked Sorc. I know barb is notoriously difficult in the leveling phase but a god in the endgame. I don’t know how I feel about it, because on one hand it makes the classes feel a bit more unique but on the other it feels really shitty when you hit the difficult parts of a character.

    @AuspexAO ปีที่แล้ว +52

Scaling is a huge problem. Easy solution: Chunk the game into more tiers. I think tiers are fun because you feel like you are taking on harder and harder challenges for better and better rewards. Just make a new tier every 15-20 levels. Mobs won't scale anymore until you manually advance the tier. Then you get much better drops to make that tier easier, rinse and repeat. My favorite part of Diablo IV was moving into Nightmare and starting to see "sacred" drops and uniques. If they pulled that trick six or seven more times, I'd be satisfied.

      nightmare=50-75

Oh boy. When you asked me if i would come along for the ride and play the game, i had two reasons for postponing that.
    Payday
    and skepticism.
Now, the first of these problems will be resolved in a few days but that second one...
I mean i hear a lot of good stuff from all over the place but that changed after the same people reached the "endgame" of D4.
Level scaling is for me a game devs politician approach to solve a problem they created in the first place. It is a compromise that makes no one happy at the end and yet i can't think of a better solution for this kind of game.
And grinding is something i despise with all my heart. Having a fun gameplay loop isn't a grind in my book but how you described the Tier system in D4? No thank you Blizzard.
My cousin and i made a mini LAN back in the day when D3 came out and rushed through the story together, had fun together and then i was done with D3.
The only Diablo game that kept me actually hooked was D1 of all games. I came back to D2 a couple of times in my life but D1 had that special something for me as a kid.
But the always online thing + the approach to endgame in D4 turns me off hard.
Also that the strongest Necro build seems to be an emo sorc is just sad. One day we'll get a proper necromancy game but i guess this isn't the one.
Well, BG3 is still around the corner 😏

In Diablo 3, from level 10 onward I had a blast running through the campaign/adventure mode and refining my builds with every class and never once did I get bored. With Diablo 4 on the other hand Im 40 hours in and I just got to act 5 and finally hit level 50. Sure the combat is enjoyable but the slog to get to max level is making me wonder if I want to try other classes and level them. Couple that with the dungeons and alters of Lilith, this game is very heavy with padding. Oh and the “always online” aspect is killing me. The last thing I want to do after a long day of work is to either A: deal with a server downtime or B: deal with lag that makes the game unplayable.

Perhaps I'll wait until it's on a deep, deep sale, but maybe not since I've already repeatedly passed on Diablo 2 for about $10 multiple times because of what a grind fest that is.
Here's the funny thing; the original Torchlight came out on October 27, 2009. You had a pet, that you could choose between several, and that you could load down with junk and send them to town to sell it all and come back in two minutes, leaving you to carry on. That game and it's sequel was made by people who helped make Diablo 1 and 2, and it shows.

D3 had better flow, in D4 you have lots of downtime (empty areas, long stretches of running around). Some of the systems feel a bit convoluted, yet undercooked which is just weird. The tone of D4 is on point, though. Itemization needs a bit of work. Endgame is shallow - as expected.
Overall, D4 is good, but not great. Imho, it has no real identity when it comes to its gameplay mechanics. It kinda feels half baked.

Counter point to the complaint about having to regrind for loot at t3 and t4. There were 16 torment levels in D3. You had to grind new gear every few Torment levels there if you weren't lucky. The only time I was able to skip that grind was when the season would give me a full set of gear for free, and then you could only skip a few torment levels.

....but i think the damage is done and the wound is too great to heal, this game is a shadow of its former self in most every aspect, and rather than setting trends its now in the situation of chasing others mechcanics hoping everyone else wants them, kinda trying everything and hoping something sticks. So i gave the company a second chance, they will not get another. This company is a zombie walking, and no shade to anyone who genuinely enjoys their games, i just hope your honest with yourself when you talk about them being good or not. I'm fairly sure the level scaling in Morrowind does not work like you're describing it here. It's a little more subtle and not as boring/broken as Oblivion/Skyrim. There are tables describing several types of areas, the difficulty of such areas, and what creatures are allowed to be spawned there based on your level. But it's all thematically appropriate, and it just "gates" certain creatures from spawning if you're too low level. As soon as you're high enough, a new higher level create will be added to the pool of possible spawns. So enemies don't "scale" to your level, rather, a higher level "unlocks" the possibility of spawning in more dangerous creatures. The lower level ones can still spawn, and the they're not actually scaled up to match your level. Some areas and enemies work a little differently. For example, I believe a bandit cave or something like that will have just that: bandit NPCs which are pre-designed and unscaled.
There's a not a lot of documentation around for how the system actually works, you'd probably have to look into the game's data tables for more accurate analysis. But it's leagues better than later Bethesda games. Or frankly even Daggerfall (which is a great game but definitely also suffers from scaling issues and randomly generated crap).
