i feel particularly conflicted about all this since it really is dystopian and horrifying, especially when you see what the government does to its citizens. i am chinese but i study in the west, so i get to see essentially what the west sees of china and what i can see of china from its media and its terrible. being under constant influence of the western, more open-minded culture makes me feel no more connection to china and the only thing that keeps me constantly checking on it is because my family are still there. if my family immigrates here with me, i will not feel any remorse to see the government be torn down.

    • @alexanderrahl7034

China legitimately has a plan for world domination that's been in the works for a long time, and the shit they've been doing the past 20 years is scary to say the least.
And people are completely oblivious to it. They're more afraid of Russia right now, than China. When... to put it in WW2 terms, Russia is the modern day Italy, and China is the modern day 3rd Reich. Their military has been advancing rapidly, their military influence has been spreading across the 3rd world, and they have consolidated tight control of their country to the point they are currently committing an ethnic genocide, and their people are unaware.
Russia, in the grand scheme of things, is incredibly weak. Their borders are absolutely massive, too massive to properly defend. They are terrified, of NATO surrounding them. Their population is very low, they'll only use nukes if they feel their existence as a nation is threatened.
But China? China wants the planet. They've been funding coups in 3rd world nations (kinda like the U.S, except the U.S has far less influence over the nations they do it to than China does. China makes Satraps of these nations.) And preparing for a global war for decades. They've funded infrastructure and political projects around the world that weaken their enemies economically. They currently are funding the construction of a Dam at one of the sources of the Nile River. If completed, it would basically wrought absolute havoc on Egypt and every nation that depends on the Nile.
They tried to build a rival to the Panama Canal. They fund politicians and political groups to place people into governments that are sympathetic to them. They actually caught 2 spies before covid started, down in Boston, who were posing as college kids working in the Biology labs on vaccines. They have shit like the Confucius Institute to recruit and radicalize youths In college to communism for the CCP. They have tens of thousands of state actors who's job is to go online and pose as westerners spreading misinformation, conspiracies, and propoganda.
Chins has been waging an information war on the American and western people for a decade or more. They are absolutely the biggest threat to the world right now, but nobody seems to know or care.
After one starts learning this shit, you get both scared, and angry nobody else does lol. I totally understand those characters in movies now who find out some crazy dark secret and end up looking crazy trying to tell everyone and the crazy appearance ruins their credibility 😆

    • @mobiuscoreindustries
      @mobiuscoreindustries 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Absolutely.
Life in the west is stressful as it is, with how demanding jobs are and how unforgiving life is. But at least the monitoring and constant exploitation mostly stops once you get to your property, so you can unwind and talk freely, away from whatever facade you need to maintain for the outside world.
But in a surveillance state? The pressure never goes away. And worst, its designed to keep you in fear and miss-trust of everyone around you. Literally everyone in your town could think exactly like you do, hate the state and want more liberties... but no one ever meet, talk or acts like they believe it, because of the fear of the consequences. It is why the CCP went ballistic on a fucking yoga movement, because the very idea of people *talking* to each other and exchanging their feelings carried the risk of them realizing their gripes and strife wasn't actually isolated and that EVERYONE was experiencing the same.

Sooo... Part of me would love to get in touch with this guy, simply bc I want to hear more about his views on anarchism. I love that you let him speak on your platform, & let him get his story out about his time in China, & hearing a random Joe talk about the things that political jockeying has been whispering about behind their hands, & then ‘teehee, no, there’s nothing wrong in Ba Sing Se’ whenever they realise there’s cameras & microphones pointed in their direction, was amazingly refreshing.
But, the flip side of that... I know that trying to reach out to him while he’s not only loudly spoken of Tiananmen Square, but also claimed to be an insurrectionist AND an anarchist, after he said his phone was listening in... it’s would endanger not only his life, but that of the rest of the family he’s there with.
Instead, I hope he stays safe, & doesn’t attract the kind of attention that would wish him ill, for being brave enough to stand up & proclaim “yeah, nah, these dudes are seriously eff’d up over here”.

    • @Mel0D
      @Mel0D 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

this dude seems like a pretty smart kid actually. he made it clear that his family was living in china as a matter of foriegn affairs, so if the chinese government went after him in any super meaningful way it might spark an international incident; he's probably aware of that fact and uses it to buy a bit more leeway than a local citizen might have.
regardless, fascinating af person. always good to hear from a fellow anarchist and here's to hoping things ease up for the chinese people sooner than later. if you ever wanna hang out with an anarchist in VRC, hit me up. im more of an anarcho-communist and less into the post-left stuff but the core ideas are pretty similar. don't let the word
'communist' fool you, it's a safe bet that anyone who describes themselves with the 'anarcho' prefix isn't exactly a fan of the CCP

Well, it's not completely wrong what he said.
I mean, I was in Shenzhen and I saw all sorts of "pigs" and the "proprietary" apps are doing all the spying but if you like get a very old Android phone (like Galaxy Note 3) and flash a custom firmware on it, you can use it to do things. Especially the Galaxy Note 3, a phone from 2013, allows you to flash custom Android 11 firmware and when you're not using the payment app or something like that, you can just pull out the battery. If you don't want to turn it off, you basically take it apart (it uses normal Philips screws), destroy the microphones and use headset to call people. Cameras can be covered with a tape which gives you some additional security.
What I kinda criticize is the fact that he didn't mention Musically aka. TikTok or as I call it "Chinese Data Farm". Based on the behavior of the app, I can only assume that it's used for spying.
What he also forgot to mention is the fact that Google is blocked in China and if you use a VPN to bypass the great China firewall, you get a visit from the "bad guys".
Yes, this happened to me but luckily I had two OS's installed on my computer (Windows XP for retro gaming and Linux) and they couldn't find any VPN software on that computer and probably assumed that it was a false positive or something like that 😅
At this point I'm only glad that I was able to return to my country without making the Pooh bear angry or triggering people by saying that Taiwan is a country and I'm really happy that I won't ever visit that country again 😂

So I went to an American school in China. I grew up being educated like an American. I moved to the US in middle school, and have been here since.
But growing up in one of the neighborhoods with Bao An at every entrance to the compound was actually really pleasant, granted this was pre-COVID. They opened the gate for you and greet you, making sure the people entering and leaving are safe and supposed to be there. I fully believe that they aren't there to spy on the normal citizens.. what do they have to gain by listening to your daily life? There are much more important people to spy on than commoners like us LOL
It's interesting seeing the outsiders' perspective of life in China. I get that with western upbringings (especially with literature class covering 1984 and the like), we learn how extreme communism controls the population. To some minor degree, yes, I too think the morning Yan Bao Jian Caos and big red banners of "Do Well In School, Serve Your Community" are offputting - but isn't mandatory pledging allegiance to the flag in American schools pretty much the same thing? Every country has their way of doing it.
I'd like to encourage you to consider why these readings are in every American education system. It's definitely politically charged.
I'd like to disclaim that I don't support the way the government is running the country.. I don't like communism, or what America calls "democracy" either. There's always a flaw in every system, and I don't think there's an all encompassing solution to this either.

For my own perspective as someone who grew up in the west as a Chinese person, I feel stuck between two worlds. For one, I know that the CPC tends to sit in the darker moral grey zone, but at the same time the general hostility of the west to China puts me off. I've copped my fair share of shit since the pandemic started while minding my own business. My experience with people both IRL and online have made me doubt how genuine people are whenever they say "hate the government, not the people", before going off racist rants and tirades and being applauded for it. Many of the people I've had conversations with on the subject just want to inflict mass deaths on my people (whether through ignorance of what an actual fall of government entails or just plain malice) and using the government as a fig leaf for their antipathy. My trust has been thoroughly eroded by the experience and whenever that phrase comes up the only thing I feel is doubt at the person's intentions.
At the same time, having lived there for a bit and spoken extensively to my relatives living there, there's a lot of misinformation on both sides of the aisle, especially due to the language barrier. It's fairly easy to make up information and lie about China and the events that go on there and have it taken at face value. Not to mention that it's one of the few areas where who people can't even read or speak the language (or have never visited or lived there) can be considered an expert in. It's not like most people can check, especially without the ability to read Chinese.
In any case, the last few years have made me feel jaded and bitter. While the government in charge of my ancestral homeland isn't one I have much love for, my experiences with those on the ground have thoroughly eroded my faith in people's hearts. The pandemic has changed a great many for the worse. That, or simply emboldened them to drop the mask.

I really get where you're coming from with Anarchism allowing people to more directly address their problems. The problem that you will face is disunity. Famously Classical Greek, Renaissance Italy, and the HRE are the closest historical examples to this. While these city-states did great things we saw their very apparent weaknesses. The class structure skeevy politics and abuse of the poor never went away. These states were also victims to just devastating conflicts that they did not have the means to resist.
You can see this in Greece with Macedon or Rome, In Germany and Italy suffering from French invasions. Internal conflicts like the 30 years war or the Peloponnesian war led to the death of entire cities. In the end, the last bunches of city-states in Germany and Italy were forced to band together in order to compete with more centralized powers. It sounds nice but the fact is that survival must come first when forming a society. Just consider the US breaking down into local governments while China held together. What would that do to the world?

  • @alexanderrahl7034

I don't fault this guy for his beliefs.
What I do fault, is the underlying idea that if we gave people like him an area of land the size of Cyprus or Rhodes or Malta, that they wouldn't be happy with it, because every time they describe their ideal future, it usually involves the world.
Man, if you want an island with all your anarchist friends and you want to make an anarchist micronation, I bet that would he an absolute hit. But when you get people who believe in a violent revolution or uprising...
The American Revolution, was by no means normal. At all. It was a one in a million, "holy shit I can't believe that worked" kind of thing.
The founding fathers led a violent revolutionary uprising against a major world power, they _won_ and then they created a successful and free nation.
When you study enough history, and start racking up knowledge of rebellions, revolutions and uprisings, you start to see just how many end up either failing, or becoming totalitarian Dictatorships or minor kingdoms before soon being destroyed or replaced.
Once the killing begins, by the time it's over you're desensitized to it. Suddenly it becomes easy to kill dissidents than to craft a working legislative and legal system. Courts are hard, they take up time and money and maybe the guilty go free. But the wall? The wall is quick and what's one more kill to add to your hundreds?
It almost always goes that way, and all it takes is one man in a position of power to say "I could go from being a general to a farmer with nothing... or I could be the ruler of a nation with money, power and pussy..." and suddenly your glorious revolution has become another Dictatorship.
Anarchism is fine enough on a small scale when you have *only* people who are 100% on board with the cause. But it fundamentally ignores or denies human nature to imagine its ideal outcome. Direct democracies are the incubators of tyranny and the mothers of Demagouges

So, here in Brazil there's some left leaning economists that praise china for ending extreme poverty, while the US and Brazil suck at that. I'm wondering if they're right about what they say, if it's really a situation of freedom versus no poverty and balanced economy... They also say that anti-china propaganda spread by the US greatly contaminates the general consensus of the people around the world. Are they too biased?

@@gradient5319 While some people do say that China has ended poverty I think it’s not exactly the truth. China is trying to help some of the villages that are relatively poor but you can still find people who live in terrible conditions. It’s similar to a lot of countries where they tried but it didn’t completely work.
About the propaganda question, I have seen some newspapers that do spread propaganda but something’s are true. They do the same in China as well. So if you want unbiased news you have to do your own research in a way. So to answer your question they aren’t exactly biased but at the same time some are it just depends.
      I hope this helps
