Love your videos. Been watching your videos for the last 2 months. Very inspiring and informative. I finally got accepted by 3 schools for post-master’s certificate PMHNP program. I had to narrow it down and stick with 1. Wish me luck! Pls keep up and add more videos. thank you!
Along with clinical hours I think curriculum is important as well. If they don't have a specifically psych med course (beyond advanced pharm) I dont even consider the school. Also if they have 4 courses devoted to nursing theory blah blah, nope. Informatics - nope took it for my undergrad. It needs to be specialized for psych!
what program did you go to? i completely understand what you mean about the discussion board programs. currently looking to transfer out of a school that is a death by discussion boards
i didn't realize other programs will incorporate board prep type work in their program. this just confirms that my transfer to a better program is the best thing.
1. Do you think telepsych jobs will continue to be in demand well into the future? 2. What do you think about going into telepsych right off the bat? (First NP job)
Going into telepsych right out of school is a horrible idea, you need the in person experience with people who are more knowledgeable to get your footing and be a competent provider. I would not recommend it at all. You should practice in person for 2-3 years before considering telepsych. I also think demand will decrease soon as the Ryan Haight Act will be reinstated and insurers will also look to reduce/eliminate reimbursements for telemedicine as the pandemic disappears entirely. Positions will still exist but you will see a lot shifting to in-person or hybrid model with some days in office some work from home.
