Conical shape of range backstops definitely worth discussing. There are a lot of property owners in my area that shoot on their property. Most of them observe safe practices, but we are in the mountains. Ricochet of the top of a target or a missed shot can go a long long way.
My pet peeve, people dropping the slide on an empty handgun. Its a bad habit and shouldnt really be a practice. Talking to gunsmiths they will likely tell you to avoid dropping the slide on a handgun without a loaded magazine. Theres no resistance and it wears the triggers and bolt very quickly. Especially on guns with trigger work.
That’s kind of funny, because I have handguns I’ve had for 40 years and I “drop the slide” and I’ve never had the bolt or trigger wear out. Trigger jobs are for people who can’t shoot.
