late in the the game. Probably commented a while ago but it you still hold strong. Having my personal rave right now after my husband turned 61 and went to bed. You make me feel OK to be Late 50's and not long for bad 80's songs> :)
they are fucking amazing. this is brilliant. She is genuinely lovely to watch and he kills it. My mind is blown. They fucking rock. It makes me happy and want to dance.... he sings so perfectly with her. Super stoked to be a fan!
00:00 Super syked 00:39 Hey Mami 04:20 Busy Zen + Organizing + Movie talk 09:18 Coffee 14:14 Uncatena 18:17 Not all band members like each other but we do + Musik talk 23:20 Play It Right 26:28 I wonder how their movie night went...
"effortless" yeah, that word. I want to know what she hears in her own head. She is so rhythmically amazing. No matter what poly-rhythm (or stranger thing) that is looping under her, she stays so locked to the one.
i love these guys. i remember seeing them when all they had out was like hey mami and play it right and he was trying to use a pos laptop that ended up craping out em and they still managed to bring the whole crowd to love them. plus i was lucky enough to have a brief convo w them afterwards and they were really chill too which is always a great bonus for a band lol
What an incredibly cute couple as band mates! Their vibe together is incredible, and you know that this friendship is why the group and the music is so successful.
True, it's dance, we know the moves The bar, the dip, the woo Though the words are true The state is old news Wrap me in your arms I can't feel it but Wrap me in your arms I can't feel it but Get up, get down Get up, get down Feel the general attention And stop, see the mix won't work Get up, get down Get up, get down Get up Sinner ends a saint with a pair of feet change I know my rose will dry upon the skin Just like a name I remember hearing Wild winter, warm coffee Mind's gone, do you love me? Blazing summer, cold coffee Baby's gone, do you love me? Wrap me in your arms I can't feel it but Wrap me in your arms I can't feel it but Get up, get down Get up, get down Feel the general attention And stop, see the mix won't work Get up, get down Get up, get down Get up Sinner ends a saint with a pair of feet change Get up, get down Get up, get down Feel the general attention And stop, see the mix won't work Get up, get down Get up, get down Get up Sinner ends a saint with a pair of feet change My baby does the hanky-panky My baby does My baby does the hanky-panky My baby does My baby does the hanky-panky My baby does (Rock me) My baby does the hanky-panky My baby does Get up, get down Get up, get down Feel the general attention And stop, see the mix won't work Get up, get down Get up, get down Get up Sinner ends a saint with a pair of feet change
Coffee is such a brilliant song. I understand a little more about their creative genius on Coffee, after hearing him talk about organizing the VHS tapes. Still yet, I have heard people say that her voice sounds the same as other singer and I would challenge those people to elaborate who she supposedly sounds like and then we can do some comparisons. Her voice is unlike anyone else I have ever heard and I have listened to the wides range of music from "Joy Division" to Beyonce in my lifetime.
Andrew H.B. Funny how that sort of thing works. My mind hears it so clearly. 10:47-11:03, for instance. Doesn't diminish my enjoyment one iota, though. As others said, she's also intoxicating to watch, so languid yet engaged and positive. Their chemistry is great, and both seem like wonderful people.
Yes, I'm young in comparison to you. I'm not sure why you felt the need to bring that up - especially since it's been over a year since I made that post.
I just love this so much. Stumbeld upon this fantastic band two years ago, and what a magic rabbithole to dive into. Thank you KEXP for the brilliant music you chare. ❣️❣️❣️
Uncatena destroys me for whatever reason... I lose my shit at "all I want from you's a letter and to be your distant lover, that is all that I can offer at this time"... fuck
She is so beautiful in every sense of the word. Reminds me so much of my ex... both a bad thing and a good thing. This whole performance got me right in the feels.
The way they responded when they heard Little Dragon was going to be there tomorrow ...... priceless. I mean that is fangirl or fanboy material regardless of how big you are in the Indy music scene LOL
Yup! I love this! But I would even just like it for them mentioning "Holland" (even though it's supposed to be called the Netherlands)... Awesome music!!!
Quite impressive in many ways. They need zero preparation for performing and keep taking right after and before the performance. So relaxed. This is something a band with actual instruments won't ever achieve I think.
She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walking so fast Oh our lady she don't know how she go She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walk like a babe, hey Her image it lasts and I know, She floats along as she goes She owns the eyes as she flies right through the sound Moving her body all around town Hey, hey mami, hey, hey mami I know what you want, I know what you want, I know what you want Sooner or later the dudes at bodegas will hold their lips and own this shit Curlin' their toes on a shivery tip But out here oh she don't know the gravity she owns As she pulls on the eyeballs of all the kids standing tall Hey mami, I know what you want, mami Hey mami, I know what you want, mami Hey mami, I know what you want, mami Hey mami, I know what you want, mami She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walking so fast Oh our lady she don't know how she go She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walk like a babe, hey Look at that ass and I know She floats along as she goes She owns the eyes as she flies right through the sound Moving her body all around town Hey, hey mami, hey, hey mami I know what you want, I know what you want, I know what you want Sooner or later the dudes at bodegas will hold their lips and own this shit Curlin' their toes on a shivery tip But out here oh she don't know the gravity she owns As she pulls on the eyeballs of all the kids standing tall Hey mami, I know what you want, mami Hey mami, I know what you want, mami Hey mami, I know what you want, mami Hey mami, I know what you want, mami
I'm washing with all my friends in the kitchen Drying dishes turning twisting until we can run out go swimming I feel you behind me ringing bowls right next to my ears Toe was so clear so that we all could hear when the water washed around us Salty holding us steer Did you ever say oh no Did you ever say no, Skinny skinny skinny man with a whale to hold his hand Oh to trade the places fast to be swallowed let it last I'm swimming with all my slippery beginnings White linen, sheet twisting Limbs clenched so hard, mouth so resistant Did you ever say oh no Did you ever say no, All I want from you is a letter and to be your distant lover That is all that I can offer at this time
His eyes are like a hawk's, so intense. I haven't listened to electronic music on purpose since my raving years (cross-eyed emoticon) but I am fully raptured (raptored, too, tee-hee).
Great performance, it's reminded me Emiliana Torrini from the late 90's but a bit better ! I'm not an electro fan but this band have a particuliar vibe. Furthermore, this interview is the coolest of KEXP, the tow performers are chilled and the DJ asked the right questions. And they talk about Soul Coughing, I'm totally aggree with them, it was a unrecognised band of this era, the true genius was Mark de gli anthony.
Here again still after 5 years
Yes, one of my favorite sets by anyone ever.
Had no idea the guy in this band was so charismatic. He seems completely at home at a radio station ... rather impressive.

I AM JUST AS ENTHUSIASTIC AS YOU ARE ABOUT THEM
I agree 100%
esther judge Ha ha!! I'm getting the same vibe here!!

26:28 I wonder how their movie night went...
Oh man they had no idea how great they'd become. And by God were they good when they recorded this.
Am I the only one here that Ioves “Uncatena” but can hardly find it played live?
Also 9 years on 😂
They're so incredibly chill.
Michael Pansacula Whirred.
She captivates me..
+broshaman church
Her seemingly effortless style is intoxicating. Such an organic connection to stark electronic beats. A septum piercing doesn't hurt either.
"effortless" yeah, that word.
I want to know what she hears in her own head. She is so rhythmically amazing. No matter what poly-rhythm (or stranger thing) that is looping under her, she stays so locked to the one.
beautifly said!
She reminds of the cool girls I used to meet at raves when I was young. Where did they go? 😂
This band and her voice is SO underrated!!
Her cuteness is infectious.
i've never heard of this band before but this video is a gem. they remind me of tune-yards (who also have a great kexp performance)
I love that they're an electronic band and yet they have even more soul when they play live. Way to..."Play it Right" daha.
Something about finding out the band mates are good people, makes the music that much better!!!
SE has taken over my playlist. Serious vibes going on.
They sound so great and the fact that they look like they're having so much fun creating art together makes it even better.
Oh KEXP, you and your wonderful artist are gonna dry my pockets.
i love these guys. i remember seeing them when all they had out was like hey mami and play it right and he was trying to use a pos laptop that ended up craping out em and they still managed to bring the whole crowd to love them. plus i was lucky enough to have a brief convo w them afterwards and they were really chill too which is always a great bonus for a band lol

she is so great!!!!
Sylvan Esso manage to perform perfectly every time they play live. Missed them with Tune-yards in LA, but I will not make that mistake again. #Music
I love Amelia Meath's voice so much, and i'm in-love with Nick Sanborn's voice for completely different reasons. They both are just incredible.
Such chill. Such cool. Great stuff.
Listenening to them chat during the interview- I’m not surprised at all they are down to earth and cool as sht
Electric music with a dash of folk and soul.
Brilliant

There's a fair bit of Regina Spektor in her singing...not that that's a bad thing.
enjoyingmylife I don't really hear it, and I grew up listening to Regina Spektor practically daily. That's certainly a compliment, though.

17:16 gets them tears going. Such beautiful music Sylvan Esso
One man's beautiful is another's soul crushing
I just love this so much. Stumbeld upon this fantastic band two years ago, and what a magic rabbithole to dive into. Thank you KEXP for the brilliant music you chare. ❣️❣️❣️

This Performance is so beautiful vulnerable, so pure. My heart beat changed by hearing this. I'm serious. ♡♡♡♡♡
They are the cutest, most charming group i have ever seen on KEXP. Look at them!!!! 16:45
oooooooooOOoo she sounds so so so great live..
jadefieldsI think they sound better live. It's so rare that an artist does.
So much chemistry in the air it's awe inspiring.
+broshaman Much better live.

Great performance. They're great even in the morning.
They are so great.
Sylvan Esso + Wye Oak + Tune Yards - damn I wish I saw that tour!!!
I must buy this CD.
John Richards also said we must buy this CD.
I must buy this CD.
Sylvan Esso fans should go on a pilgrimage to this video at least twice a year.
I seriously love them so much.

Best session/interview EVER!!!!!
He sounds like Alexander Ebert. And i love Amelia. she was great in Mountain Man, and is stunning in this group!
Can't wait to see them live.
I'd love to see them with Wye Oak and tUnE-yArDs, sounds amazing
love Mountain Man, and this stuff is off the charts good!! They're coming to Boston in July, think I'm buying tickets later.
Normally not my cup of tea (I'm such a guitar bore) but... I love it!
She is so beautiful in every sense of the word. Reminds me so much of my ex... both a bad thing and a good thing. This whole performance got me right in the feels.
They are all of the amazing
No dislikes!
NO COME TO BOISE AGAIN PLEASE I HAD JUST STARTED LISTENING TO YOU 2 WEEKS AGO IM UPSET
you guys are awesome
Nice to hear a Soul Coughing reference ❤
I love her
Their music really reminds me of walking through Epsom Common with a can of [ginger] beer in my hand. Wonderful memories of being 13.
Music that's modern but is not sexual. Finally i have been waiting for a band like them! So good!!!
I want Nick to soundtrack my life
New favorite band
Do you wanna bagel?
xD
I love these guys so much ❤️💚💙
love from michigan!
I thought they were cool, but their love of Soul Coughing sealed the deal!
I love you Molly!! "Some nice girl shared her fried fish with me" haha
Coffee is my favorite so far.
So good.
best version of coffee ever
Quite impressive in many ways. They need zero preparation for performing and keep taking right after and before the performance. So relaxed. This is something a band with actual instruments won't ever achieve I think.
completely smitten with her
She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walking so fast
Oh our lady she don't know how she go
She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walk like a babe, hey
Her image it lasts and I know,
She floats along as she goes
She owns the eyes as she flies right through the sound
Moving her body all around town
Hey, hey mami, hey, hey mami
I know what you want, I know what you want, I know what you want
Sooner or later the dudes at bodegas will hold their lips and own this shit
Curlin' their toes on a shivery tip
But out here oh she don't know the gravity she owns
As she pulls on the eyeballs of all the kids standing tall
Hey mami, I know what you want, mami
Hey mami, I know what you want, mami
Hey mami, I know what you want, mami
Hey mami, I know what you want, mami
She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walking so fast
Oh our lady she don't know how she go
She walking so fast, she walking so fast, she walk like a babe, hey
Look at that ass and I know
She floats along as she goes

I'm washing with all my friends in the kitchen
Drying dishes turning twisting until we can run out go swimming
I feel you behind me ringing bowls right next to my ears
Toe was so clear so that we all could hear when the water washed around us
Salty holding us steer
Did you ever say oh no
Did you ever say no,
Skinny skinny skinny man with a whale to hold his hand
Oh to trade the places fast to be swallowed let it last
I'm swimming with all my slippery beginnings
White linen, sheet twisting
Limbs clenched so hard, mouth so resistant
Did you ever say oh no
Did you ever say no,
All I want from you is a letter and to be your distant lover
That is all that I can offer at this time

His eyes are like a hawk's, so intense. I haven't listened to electronic music on purpose since my raving years (cross-eyed emoticon) but I am fully raptured (raptored, too, tee-hee).
+Crystal Burnham - Heyyyy girl.
wowww
Live loops !
Coffee is the ultimate hipster dance song, and Amelia does the ultimate hipster dance to it.
Great performance, it's reminded me Emiliana Torrini from the late 90's but a bit better ! I'm not an electro fan but this band have a particuliar vibe.

Not to bad, Im more into Tri-hop and ambient but great performance! Sounds great, and these two have in my opinion a great personality.
