For anyone looking this up now - the newer version of Elektron's Transfer program allows you to back up projects, samples, and sounds straight from that one program
@@LacklusterOfficial When you launch Transfer and once you are connected to your Digitakt, In the top right drop down menu (Should displays "Samples"), select either Projects or Samples. You can then drop them on any folder on your computer.
I’m really hoping transfer allows us to backup and transfer kits and pattens some time. Using SysEx Librarian (mac) for transferring pattens and kits isn’t ideal at all 😩
Just a quick tip. Switch midi in/out to USB from MIDI/USB during backup process (midi config > port config). This will speed up the transfer. (4mb sysex took 4-5 seconds)
Dude, you are without a doubt my absolute favorite person for tutorials and reviews. You explain things in such a warm, honest, and simple way, and your videos just plain LOOK good as well. Just got my Digitakt, and I have spent more time listening to you than anyone about anything (which may be problematic?? But I'm not complaining just yet). Thank you sir, I will be snatching up a hat very soon!
Thanks for this really useful info Ricky, as usual your style and info is so good. My Digitakt let me down for the first time last night, It allowed me to save the project I was working on. I closed it down as usual, however, this morning the project I'd been working on did not exist. So thought I would start with a complete factory reset but I had no clue how to back up my other projects, this video set me straight with that. Thanks a lot for saving me a lot of time.
Guy... i love your channel for 4/5 month now, always fun and relaxing, your videos are just perfect. I'll own a bcr2000 with a 2018 ableton free script, what a fucking journey to end up where i am now, my final boss was to use C6 to bring this script correctly to my futur bcr2000, and finally end up on your channel, once again. I can fanilly get this machine without any fear. THANK YOU SO MUCH, LOVE FROM PARIS Sometimes what we think we do for ourself, actually you do it for others without knowing it
oh men! Thanks for that, i'v been looking to save my monomachine for years but never found a decent video that i could trust, so finally i can backup more than 5 years of work haha
with sysex and i succesfully export a pattern , but it doesn’t include the original samples of that project, it gives me only the sequence, i want to be able to export the whole pattern with the original sounds in it for then transfer it to another project pattern
Thank you very much Ricky. You have helped me in many videos from your TH-cam channel, including this one. Needed to backup my projects. Thank you again!
What I'd like to see, is how to backup a project with the sample used in the project : here you have backup all the sample in the digitakt, not the sample used in the project. You deserve a thumb up anyway because you explain it really well :)
At the end of the day, it is always easier to back up everything. Nit picking files is a time hungry task. The samples recorded on the Digitakt should always be linked in the file directory respectively inside the Digitakt's computer. In short, what Mr. Martinez said. 😉
Hey man, really helpfull video, wondering if the projects self contain the samples in that project. as in if i delete the folder which the sample is in will the samples be gone from the project? many thanks
Super concise and clear video!!! I wish I hadn't updated my Mac OS though because I am unable to use the C6 application without a lot of reconfiguring. I am hoping Digitakt starts to move to the 64 bit route soon. I had a lot of issues with my interface/abelton and had to update the OS and it caused a slew of other issues.
hi Ricky i'm a big fan of your content and i have a question for you. how do you "copy" patterns from one project into another? i want to organize my live set :)
Copy patten, open other project, go to empty pattern slot, paste pattern. This is the standard way. But I’ve been experimenting with using SysEX Librarian (macOS) to backup/import sysex patterns/kits/sounds in my A4mk2, it’s better but not great.
does this work with the rytm mk 2. I basically used an older version of C6 to transfer some samples and the samples got transferred withtout names then I got the newest version of C6 and now my samples transferred with names and did not delete out the samples without names. So i need to i think manually delete all the unnamed ones in the Elektron Transfer software. will try later today. this video was great to get started with it hopefully i figure the rest out.
I have a question, how can you organize your file structure ( i have an AR mk2 ) of samples etc for a live performance ? So you can access all your samples etc or create a sample bank to play from thanks for your great videos :)
Thank you for the video! I connected my Digitakt in the Transfer app, but I don't see the "Explore" option. I only see "Drop" and "Connections". Do you happen to know why?
I have a question. When you say backing up projects does that include all the pattern chains you've made? I ask because from the research I've made it seems that upon shutting off the Digitakt your sequence of pattern chains are erased. (I don't own the Digitakt, but have been considering getting one as of recently)
When you load your saved project back to Digi do you need to be on a new blank project? And it looks like if you are on any busy project it will be overwritten by the project you loading from computer? Scary...
Great Video as usual, Enrique! I have a question.. it's quite out of the box but anyway.. what are the specs. that your Macbook has? And what do you recommend? Cheers! (Also, thanks to you.. I bought myself a Novation Circuit! Loving it!)
Just about any modern version of Windows or Mac from this decade will do this. It doesn't really matter what the specs of the PC or Mac are because this is a pretty simple, low processing and straightforward operation made so anyone is capable of doing this.
I'm still rocking a mid 2013 macbook pro or something like that, why fix what's not broken right? Also, Lance's reply is spot on. Especially if you're using hardware a lot of the processing is put onto machines like the digitakt instead of the computer.
@@RickyTinez thanks for replying back! I'm actually planning of getting the same macbook since you can upgrade the internal specs. Have you used it for any live performance gigs?

Yes. This video is provided for doing exactly that, backing up the Digitakt files on to the computer. You shouldn't have to reload anything back from computer to Digitakt.
is there a safe way to send all projects to c6 from the digi and still have them all as individual syses files ? it seems to be taking a hell of a long time for me to just send one project as it is
