In this comparison review of the ZX6R vs R6, I will discuss how the motorcycle is for the street and for the track and ultimately, which one is best depending on the application.

Have not ridden either but based of the looks. I’m going ZX-6R. Always been a Kawasaki guy though when it came to the Japanese bikes. Hoping to get one here this week.
ZX-6R. Biased not just because I own one... Well, all three of my street bikes have been Kawi... But also because I am team red for offroad and every dirt bike that I've own has been Honda. In both cases, the Yamaha fanboys were always smug assholes about their overpriced and relatively underpowered toys.
Granted, I leaned how to ride on a Yamaha Warrior 350 quad as a kid, but my experience with Yamaha pricing plus fanboyism has turned me off. I will continue to ride Green on road and Red off.
Edit: Actually, I will rephrase that. I will continue to shop first for those two brands in those respective categories, but have no real loyalty. It's really just the way it worked out. Hell, I might go Beta for my next dirt bike, or buy a used Daytona for my next street. I do know for a fact though, that I will actively avoid Yamaha. Yes, I hate Yamaha fanboys so much that I also hate the company by proxy.

This was probably one of the most unbiased videos I’ve seen. Excellent job you just earn a subscriber. I use to have an r6 and now I’m looking to get back into riding and the zx6r is the direction I’m going. Mainly for the daily driving no track days for me.
I can't believe I'm loving and hating the R6 at the same time. Loving her for being such a wonderful creation, hating her for being too intimidating and unapproachable. Also I hate her cause she's so perfect but no longer available.

I picked up my 2021 ZX-6R (pearl white) about a month ago. My only prior experience on the ZX-6R was from having ridden it at two demo days last year. I absolutely fell in love with the bike. So much power and so smooth. The demo rides only last about 15 minutes so the only concern I had was that the ergonomics of the bike would be uncomfortable on longer rides. I was relieved to discover that the ergos were not a problem for me at all. I traded in my 2018 Ninja 400 when I bought the ZX-6R. I loved my 400 but the seat on that bike doesn’t have much more padding that a wooden plank. The ZX-6R’s seat is much more comfortable.
I'm glad you mentioned the seat. I had a ninja 300 several years ago and the seat was a rock. I find the zx6r seat much better as well
How was Ninja 400 in your opinion?

The Showa suspension on the ZX6 is pretty dam good.. I was pleasantly surprised with it actually.. I ride my 2021 ZX6R on some serious long rides.. I go from Boston to the White Mountains in New Hampshire all the time.. I feel it in my left wrist a little bit after about an hour and a half of steady riding.. Other than that I have no issues with the comfort.. Its an excellent daily rider.. Maybe the best ever when it comes to supersports.. I still love those R6s though..

How'd it do? Looking to get a dedicated track bike for the amateur weekend warrior rider, looking between these two bikes.
@@jonedquist701 I may be a little late but, if you are using it for track the r6 would be nice because it handles very well, the zx6r is much more comfortable imo. I would go to a dealer and get a feel for the bike because some people think the r6 is more comfortable and some don’t like me because it feels way to cramped and the seat. R6 lookz nice as hell to tho. So for pure track use i’d go for the r6, for street and track id go for the zx6r.
2014-2017 ZX6R vs the newer 2018-2021 look? The newer look has grown on me a little but I like both styles a lot.

I decided that the r6 isn’t for me because this will be a daily driver and I don’t do track plus you mentioned the safety features the zx6 has with traction control and abs now I need to compare it to the Suzuki gxr 600 as I’m not a talk guy and I want to be flat foot and the gxr sits lower
R6 has TC and ABS as well.
Have had them both and I think they're different monsters of their own but the r6 was my permanent choice.
For the R6 being a track bike, it's one of those most inconvenient bikes to work on. Everything is a pain in the ass to access. Simple tasks will be stripping half the bike apart sometimes

I agree with most of what you said. I did buy my ZX6R because I use it as a daily rider but I do love the looks of the R6. I had a difficult time deciding between them when I bought mine.
R6 is out of reach for most people at this point.. for the price of one R6 you can buy two ZX6Rs.. both great bikes, you aren’t missing out 👍

just dont keep the RPM in the same spot keep it below 7k rpm beside quick bursts of power which is good for it you wanna use the full rpm but not heat it up to the max

Yeah. The R6 is like a shy and mysterious beauty. You love her but she runs away whenever you come close to her cause she's too wild to handle and she doesn't wanna be fully yours. I wonder why the r1 doesn't have such an intriguing problem lol

They are both smooth. Vibration is rarely an issue on 4 cyl engines.

Pro tip: call and tell them you’re willing to pay MSRP OTD and that’s all you can afford.. even if you have to ship cross country, it’s worth saving $$$ (don’t negotiate in person)

I got a 2004 ZX6R orange color and I love it, They are both great motorcycles, I think it's down to personal choice, All Sports motorcycles are great motorcycles, However, follow your Haert on your final decision

This video sold me on the BMW S1000RR. I ride a Ninja 650 that has an upright position. Road it from NY to FL and back. Was looking at the 636 and 10xr but didn't like the seating positions. Nice video.

Great review! I have a '13 ZX6R and love it. My friend has an '18 R6. He loves it. We ride the track together. Most of the time I beat him in power on the straights. But he's a better rider than me and been riding way longer than me. I test rode the R6 on the track and just as you mentioned, the R6 is more track oriented with lower clips-ons, and a more forward leaning ride. The R6 would be less fun to ride on the street. For the ergonomics alone, I would still choose the ZX6R. BTW love your orange and black paint scheme! That's freaking righteous!

Not sure if you’ll respond since the videos old as heck, but as someone who much much much prefers the looks of the yamaha r6 and also prefers the idea of a higher rpm and liked the sound more of the r6, should i go with it? I don’t think i’d really track it all that much, maybe 3 or 4 times a year. But i’d be willing to do the tune to smooth out the power band, what’re your thoughts?

The best bike i ever had, is 2004 zx6rr, i had 2003 r6 as well ,, i don't like how aggressive yamaha is. My dream bike is 2021 zx10rr ,,, maybe one day 10 years later craigslist , one owner , low miles. Ride safe guys!

absolutely perfect im 5'6 and im about an inch from flat footing. being short on the zx6r is a blessing, no back pain at all i feel the bike was literally made for me

@@PetroHead I'd probably choose the Kawa. I'm about your age, similar lack of height 🤣, reasonably fit but the R6 is an adrenaline injection device designed for speed only. I can't imagine riding across the state on the R6... well, I can imagine every single muscle being sore afterwards. Actually, I'd forgo these two and just get a Striple!

When it came down to buying a bike, I was between the R6, ZX6R and the ZX10. I couldn't justify all that price of the ZX10 and really had no use for all that power, although the technology was great. I chose the '21 ZX6R based on price, ergonomics and displacement. Also, I feel like it has more useable mid range power. I think I made a good choice.
Most people are better off with the 6R.. it’s overall a better street bike. As for mid range power, the R6 can gain 10+ rwhp with a $200 tune and gain on the mid range power but again, not a good street bike.
@@PetroHead I'm going to do a flash at some point. I only have an M4GP slip on exhaust as a performance upgrade so far. 2100 miles and I'm loving it

ey bro when I was about to pull a trigger to buy my motorcycle the Yamaha R7 leaked photos just came out. Any thoughts on it? It seems like a downgrade (power) from the R6 especially if they only want to compete with the RS660.

I mean... both are great bikes but im not really sure where you are getting your info from. The zx6r outperforms the r6 in every measurable category in power and track performance.

Are Kawasaki Motor bikes better made. A lot of stunt riders ride them. Especially the 636.

They're way too similar to have both... I have a 636 and I want an MT09 or MT10 as well XD
Having at least 2k seat time on both, the 636 is a GREAT streetbike. But the R6 is such a better trackbike. Like. By a long shot. The R6 feels so much better on track than a zx6. That said, I think the zx6 has a very nice engine, I just hate the chassis, hate the ergos(which are way more street friendly), and the fit and finish just doesnt feel as good as the R6. That said: i love conventionally uncomfortable bikes. The new RRR felt natural to me, and I picked an sc77 sp2 over the 2020 bmw s1k-m and gladly nevrr looked back 🤷♂️
And the R6 sounds sex.

Conclusion: why the hell buy an R6 when the ZX6R gives you more flexibility for road, & still great on track.
I prefer the Zx6r. I feel like it’s more useable on the street than the R6.
Nah they are both the same as for the usability. One is more aggressive than the other. That is all.
I got the 2022 zx6r mainly because of looks and speed and a bit more comfort the r6 is good looking and futuristic but to me its missing something

@@PetroHead no as its missing something in the looks it looks cool but plain at the same time while the zx6r looks great from all angles the one i couldn't find is the zx10r in black i looked in 12 dealers over a month untill i just gave up and bought the 2022 zx6r from what i heard the north are the last to pick so we get the shitty shit and some good shit but that went by fast
It's unfortunate that you never experienced a 2005 ZX-6R. Any new 600 is detuned to drop off at 11,000rpm.
One of these days.. but power loss issues are a thing of the past with a $200 tune.. keep watching my R6 build videos..

The reason why you choose R6 over the 636 is the looks , the ergo, the sound and maybe because rossi. Other than that the 636 is the way to go.

Low end torque advantage would be an advantage if 636 had better aero and weight. Only reason for 636’s torque advantage is to be competitive against bikes like the R6 who is lighter and more agile.

Rsexxy is for sure more sexxy between the 2 and uncomfortable but true screamer...
z6r more comfy for daily and rides different from sexxy...

R6 is way better than zx6r anytime. People go for kawasaki because of cheaper price tag. But in 600 cc only Yamaha can give you best experience.

ZX6R is the absolute best sportbike you can own for the street and the only thing that even comes close is the Daytona. R6 is a track bike, and absolutely SUCKS on the street. Too tall, too stiff, too aggressive, literally all top end. Pointless for city riding, but i'll admit it's the most attractive. GSXR is literally the same bike as like 2005 so it doesn't even count

@@colesweet8478 even if that’s the case (for you, not everyone is the same), doesn’t change the fact that the power delivery is legit ass backwards to what you’d want for a daily street rider. Any motorcycle and be used for any application if you want it bad enough, but for everyday use, in my opinion the R6 is a terrible tool for the job
My review was unbiased and I laid out my opinions as neutral as I could. that said..I am in my 40's, in pretty good shape and I too, can ride the R6 for hours BUT (and a biggggg butt), I prefer my Striple to the R6 if I will be riding for too long... the R6 is like spending time with a HOT stripper.. you have the time of your life, then you wanna go home and sleep. haha.. I'll ride it for 2-4 hours at a time... but longer than that, I prefer my Striple. (anyone want a comparo of those two?)
@@PetroHead I commented before I even watched bro. And I’m bound to be biased I have a ‘21 zx6r but I also have a 14 striple so, I feel you. I walked into the dealership ready to buy an r6, test rode both and left with the zx6. End of the day it’s gonna be personal preference and intended use, but I don’t blame anyone for buying either bike. Only opinion I have is that the black and orange color with no metal flake is hideous lol

From my small experience with the r6 it “feels” fake and like it was all plastic. Really light, although decent height. Zx-6r doesn’t feel like that , it feels like it has weight to it and a comfy height p

Yes.. EU4.. R7 will be similar to the new Supra that came out a while ago.. everyone knew it was just a glorified BMW Z4 and they will say the same about R7 just being a faired version of the MT07.. R6 is legendary.. don’t call it an R7 if it’s not an upgrade. Just my 0.2 cents

I bought the 2020 ZX6-R and I’ve rode the 2020 R6. Stock for stock the zx6r definitely takes down the R6. Tuned, exhaust same thing. The R6 runs the track good, and the zx6r does too, but as far as more fun and great for everything, The zx6r is the best 600 cc class bike...
