      Yeah the information presented is actually useful. Most comparisons are like "let's do a drag race" "wow all of these bikes are awesome" etc. I got a 2015 CBR last week before seeing this video and can confirm the difference between the CBR and a ZX6R is night and day. The Kawasaki feels like a gigantic beast to operate compared to the CBR. It also feels like I'm trying to do a pushup just riding it making my palms hurt. Overall it's a fun bike, the Honda is just better for me. You can actually sit comfortably. It feels like an R3 but with 600cc power.

    FYI- Another great point to mention is that many 2007+ cbr600rr owners still have valves that are in spec at 50,000 miles! I called the honda dealership for a valve adjustment check at 18k miles and they laughed at me and said they've never had a 2007+ cbr600rr where the vales were out of spec. That's Honda quality for you!

    • @PersonOnEarth
      @PersonOnEarth 9 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Quality must hold true across the board for their bikes - My CB900 (Has the CBR900RR engine) calls for valve checks at 16k. I waited until 37k to check, and now at 62k miles they still have not had an adjustment. Engine runs and sounds beautiful - you hear that perfect little tick from the valves and nothing more. I'll probably easily hit 100k with no adjustments, but of course that's no excuse to skip the checks just in case. It would be a shame to burn or seize up an engine that's easily capable of 200k+ miles because of one bad valve.

  • @CycleCruza
    @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว +65

    FYI- I forgot to mention the CBR600rr and Suzuki GSXR600 have a built-in electronic steering damper that keeps the bike smooth over 50+ mph, so no tank slappers like you would experience on the ZX6r and R6 which do not come with steering dampers, something extra you'll have to buy and tune.

    • @motozixxer245
      @motozixxer245 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Actually the ZX6R does come with an Ohlins steering damper. It is only the R6 that does not come with a steering damper. On top of that, factory steering dampers that come with the bike from the factory are fairly weak. They are great for normal riding but at high speeds on a track or even on the road it is best to either upgrade or redo the internals. Also, all the 1/4 mile times are so close that it doesn't really make a large difference and will largely depend on the rider. I know someone who got a 9.98 on a completely stock 2009 ZX6R. I will admit that I do really like the 07/08 CBR600RR and almost bought one.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      MotoZixxer Unless they added one on the 2014 or 2015 models the zx6r 636 does not come with a built-in steering damper. I'm talking built-in, not a ohlins SD added on. Marknowhereman bought the 13 zx6r 636 when it first came out and I asked him about the SD, he said it did not come with a SD but he said it didn't need one for street riding.

    • @motozixxer245
      @motozixxer245 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CycleCruza From 2009-2012 the ZX6R has come with an Ohlins steering damper. It is not like the GSXR where it is hidden or electronic like the CBR. It looks like an add-on unit but it does indeed come with the bike from Kawasaki. Kawasaki did not include a steering damper on the newer models and that is why the 13 ZX6R does not have one.

    • @motozixxer245
      @motozixxer245 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CycleCruza oh and one other thing. Like I said earlier, all stock steering dampers that come with these bikes from the factory are all pretty weak. They are all about equal in performance and perfectly fine for street riding. However, if you do a lot of spirited riding in the twisties, then you will definitely benefit from either upgrading the stock steering damper that came with the bike or purchasing a normal spec steering damper. Also this is another good thing about the 2009-2012 ZX6R because it is easy to remove. On the CBR and the GSXR they are much more difficult to work with. Anyway I hope this helps anyone looking for a 600.

      how'd it work out? My buddy just got a 636 and I had to ride it back from the guy he bought it from. The arm fatigue was crazy and it felt heavy as shit. I bought a CBR a week later and it feels like an R3 in terms of comfort but with 600cc power. I can sit upright for cruising and it doesn't fatigue me. The stock steering damper is what sold me. I got the wobbles twice on the 636 ripping it. Definitely my mistake and the Kawa is a nice bike but I prefer the Honda.

  • @CycleCruza
    @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    FYI- I was joking at the end, I probably should have said all of the japanese bikes are great but it depends on your preferences on which bike is the best for you. really, you can't go wrong with any of these bikes, it just depends on what you look for in a bike. Performance wise all of the current japanese bikes are close in performance, except the R6 has the weakest low and mid-range power out of the 4 japanese bikes BUT if you are a track guy that is not as important to you and you may actually prefer a top end bike. So it's all about your preferences. If you buy a bike solely on looks or a test ride than that's your prerogative too. As long as you are happy riding that's all that matters.

    I'm riding a ZX6R 2006 myself and tested the CBR600rr 2007 from a mate. I must say, the cbr is sooo much more comfortable and sooo much easier to ride than my ninja! BUT, at the end of the ride, i found myself a bit bored with the cbr. With the ninja, you have to work in the corners, the cbr does all the work for you. IMO, the cbr is a more relax motorcycle to ride, but the ninja is more of an adventure.
    so i'm stay with my ninja ;) good vid though

    As always thank you for the great video!
    I am one of the people this video is made for lol
    Like I said before:
    After riding for about 5 years I owned 5 different bikes (Cruiser, Standard and Sport Touring but never a Super-sport) the reason why so many is because none of them made me really happy/smile while riding it so I kept getting different ones in the hope to find one I like so I would keep it for years. I know that is very stupid and expensive no matter how good of a deal I get.
    And currently I have a Honda VTX 1800 (a cruisrer) which I will keep for two up riding and a 2010 VFR1200 F (sport touring) which is really fast bike and I removed the power restrictions in the first and second gear, increased the RPM limit setting, eliminated the top speed limiter in 5th and 6th gear etc. and it's even faster now....
    But for some reason I never felt connected if you know what I mean with any of the bikes I had in the past? Is it me? Am I broken lol? Or maybe I didn't find that perfect bike?
    " CycleCruza said that I haven't found the perfect bike yet" :) which I think it's true 100%.
    For some reason I could never connect with that bike (no grin/excitement/fun factor/happiness if any while riding it and all the bikers should know that I'm talking about) and I know that is weird because like I said everyone loves their VFR's!
    So I question myself from time to time if it's me or what? I have no clue to be honest...
    I am afraid I may regret it later but there is only one way to find out. So I posted it up for sale/trade finally and I'm planning on getting a Honda CBR600RR or CBR10000RR (which I can't find new anywhere for a good deal like CycleCruza did) and hopefully that direct explosiveness of the inline 4 will cure my strange cravings?!
    I think I'm looking for a bike that scares me? As crazy as that sounds...
    I will be making my decision soon. ?
    Thank you in advance

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure to get the 2007 and newer cbr600rr, the 2006 and older cbr600rr are all top end and have weak mid-range power. For the cbr1000rr, skip the 2008 model because they had some oil burning issues that model and some of the 2009's. Best of luck!

    • @EEEBA1
      @EEEBA1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CycleCruza I currently ride a 2010 Honda VFR 1200 and it is a sport-touring but I am looking for something that is not as heavy but with lots of power. Originally I was hoping that a 600cc would do for the streets since I'm not into track ridding at all.
      Well today I had an opportunity to test ride a 2009 CBR 600RR (with an intention to take it home right after and have it in my garage tonight) and a 2005 Yamaha R1 at the same dealer.
      The CBR felt great and I have no complaints at all just like CycleCruza has always said in his videos! Very comfortable, great position my legs in the right place around the tank etc. I really couldn't ask for much more in that CBR Double RRRRRRRRRR :)
      However not enough power in my opinion, for some reason not that fast when you open the throttle all the way (keep in mind that I have never owned supper sport). And in my mind it is a deal breaker :(
      The R1 on the other hand was like a rocket and has so much power that keeps your adrenaline flowing fast and it's simply awesome and I loved it. The only thing I didn't like is the leaning forward too much.
      After the test ride for a few minutes I wanted to buy R1 but the seating and comfort is important and that's why I didn't :(
      So I have to test ride CBR1000 RR, Suzuki GSXR 750 and a Kawasaki ZX636R (which I don't think it will be much more powerful than a 600cc but I will test drive it for sure before I spend my hard earn money) and make my decision on what to get. The R6 is out due to low power and too much leaning forward needed.
      It seems like that with my VFR1200 I'm used to or immune to the power that I need something very torque to notice a difference and to satisfy my strange cravings....

      eslc eslc Cool to hear your feedback. for street riding the 600rr is a lot of power but if you are a high octane person than a liter will probably be best suited for you. The 2008+ cbr1000rr is lighter and a tick faster than the R1 and the cbr1000rr has smoother fueling from what I hear. Also, the cbr1000rr is more comfortable except the 2014 and new models , they lowered the bars a bit and moved the rear sets up higher for a more track oriented riding position. let me know how you like the cbr1000rr.

    • @EEEBA1
      @EEEBA1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the quick response. I really want a Honda 1000 RR.To be honest stepping down as far as power from my 1200cc's (and I do realize my VFR is not a super-sport) I probably shouldn't bother with Suzuki GSXR 750 or the Kawaski ZX 636?!

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      eslc eslc Price wise there are still some left over 2013 cbr1000rr to be had for cheap. Test ride the 636 and 750 too but you may enjoy the cbr1000rr more. Skip the 2014 because honda changed the ergos to more aggressive track riding position.

    Great video. I agree the Honda CBR 600 is a fierce competitor in the 600 series that is undermined. The R6 is the sexiest to me personally. Once the R6 is flashed the bike opens up on the road. I love your white and black theme on the CBR 600. If I decide to not go liter bike my current options are CBR 600, GSXR 750, and Triumph Daytona 675. The triumph has fuel gauge, gear indicator, steering damper, abs brakes, and if you go with r version it has ohlins suspension. Your videos are solid and I enjoy seeing things from your prospective. If I want to learn about Hondas I come to your channel. Some people may undermine your position since you stick to one brand. Truth is the Honda motorcycle vlogger community is pretty minimal. Your insight is appreciated.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. For me reliability takes precedence because I'd rather be riding than fixing or wasting time of my life at a dealership or mechanic. The CBR600rr has proven itself to be the most reliable supersport ever made with no known issues, which is very rare, usually every bike has some sort of issue. The R6 can be flashed but it's still an uncomfortable bike and even flashed it's still doesn't have as strong mid-range power as the cbr600rr. However, at the end of the day you get the bike that best suits your needs and that you are happy riding. Best of luck!

    You should try to be a bit more unbiased. Just say you like Honda the best and don't have any data or factual evidence outside of personal preference.
    Here are the facts and downlow on the current gen Supersport bikes:
    1. Reliability: I ride a '13 ZX6R but data says the most reliable brand is Yamaha.
    2. The strongest mid-range is the '13+ Zx6R, then the GSX-R, then the 600RR and last is the R6. Dyno sheets prove this.
    3. Comfort. That goes to the GSX-R due to higher clip ons, lower seat 32 inches as opposed to the 600RR at 32.3" and the GSX-R has the plushes/softest seat
    4. The undertail exhaust? Really? It has a tendency to heat up the seat, google it.
    5. A removable tank cover? Umm, the ZX6R comes with easy to manipulate compression and rebound on the two front forks which is more functional thank a tank cover.
    6. I laugh at how the fuel gauge is somehow more important, than say, ABS or traction control.
    Lastly, if you want the most "comfortable" supersport, get the GSX-R due to it's seat height, clip ons, and plushness of the seat. If you want a track weapon, get the R6 because it has no power/torque down low. If you want the best of both worlds and most technologically up to date bike, get the ZX6R.
    Also, the ZX6R has won more Moto-USA 600cc Supersport Shootouts than any other 600 bike and there's a reason for that. But carry on.

      Cool to hear! I was just stating why I chose the cbr600rr based on the facts presented but people have their own preferences. All of the japanese bikes are good bikes though.

      CycleCruza Yeah they're all amazing bikes, but the only one that gets set apart from the rest is the CBR personally. I just feel like a CBR has more personality so say then the other bikes I've ever ridden.

    Faulty rectifiers on Suzukis has been a pain in the ass way back since '99 (if not earlier). I experienced the issue on my 1st gen SV650s, Luckily, I was in the city and didn't have to call a toll truck.

    One thing you failed to mention, however, is seat height and body position. I'm 6' 3 so it automatically rules out the CBR600rr due to the fact my knees breach the top of the tank, with both feet on the pegs. Not a pleasant riding position.

    I have the black graffiti 2008 and it rocks. Usable power for ultimate street fun. And comfortable, though my former 2004 gsx600r was just as light, just as comfortable and arguably more of an intuitive in corners and fast bends.
    Best bike I've ever owned and wish to buy again: Honda Sp2. Nothing else like it that I've ever rode.

      I never said that. lol There are many old kawasaki bikes on the road. If you maintain any japanese bike it should last a long time but hondas are known to get more than 100k miles if maintained well. There is a dude on youtube with a cbr600f4i with over 300k miles on it.

      david carlson I didn't say anything bad about the gsxr 600, I said it has good low and midrange power for a supersport. I just gave facts about the factory recalls and that it has low clip-ons compared to the cbr600rr and it has a painted tank which can be a pita if you want to change the paint scheme. Otherwise, the gsxr 600/750 are fine bikes. really, all of the japanese bikes are great bikes, it just depends on your preferences. I just listed my preferences in this video based on facts.

    Personally I have found that I actually like the ZX6R a little better l. To me it looks and feels a whole lot nicer. I'm not a huge fan of the undertail exhaust but I know some people love it. I think it looks better on the side. I have ridden all 4 bikes as well and I would say that the CBR is my number 2. I do own a ZX6R and have put roughly 5000 miles on it and I still have had no problems with it at all. It runs smooth and fits me perfect. Good video tho. That's just my opinion

    CBr600rr and R6 both are great bikes but R6 has much better handleing and top spped R6 is better in many things but CBR 600RR is much more comfortable than any other in there list

    This is completely biased, you can find problems on any bike if you dig far enough. I have a cbr 954, and when it comes to the 600s I think the r6 is the best of the lot

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lol I guess you missed all of the facts presented. These are the only biased opinions in this video: I said the cbr is the most comfortable, I like the under-tail exhaust and I think it's the best 600. Everything else presented in this video are facts.

      Someones been hitting the heroin pretty hard hahaha r6 and best are two words that should never even be near each other. Ive owned 2 R6 and 2 CBRs. And R6 are the most hunk of shit bikes ever made. They fall apart once they reach 53k miles everything just breaks at once. They're uncomfortable as fuck. The have shit low end power. They look good and they got nice high end for the track that is it. for a street bike i rather right a fucking moped that ride a piece of shit r6. I have owned an 07 and 09 Unless they made the 10+ much more better or different nothing has changed. It is a shit bike for the street period. Track its a beast. CBR overall great bike for everything. Gsxr as well although reliability is alright. Kawi i would never touch cause they are fugly as hell bug eyed looking things But the ZX10R is pretty great except for looks imo keep in mind I've tracked/ridden both bikes equally as hard i have the right to say w/o biased. r6 looks/track thats it. CBR does everything right although 09-12 lack power which is just bullshit. and 13+ are fucking camaro looking things with sexy rims. You want a CBR 07-08. You want an r6 you better be a track day guy or your gonna have a bad time. they're good for pics and track. And sell it by 20k miles or else its just gonna be a hunk of shit.

      TacoGP You hit the nail on the head, that's what I've been hearing from a lot of riders over the years. Many people gravitate towards the R6 because of it's looks but then after owning them for a while they realize it's not a great street bike.

    the newer cbr 600rr has very different chassis, it's not just cosmetic changes, you didn't mention they changed the front suspension (which is a big change in a sports bike) with a showa big piston fork

  • @eksine
    @eksine 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    your points are good especially the gsxr recalls including the frame welds on 1000cc and 600 cc gsxr which snap if enough force is put on it like wheelies or even potholes, however your points about this bike is so heavy or this bike is so much lighter is really off base. 10-15 pounds difference or even 25 pounds isnt much on a 400 sumo. the percentage difference is negligible. once you start taking 100 lbs off or at leat 50 pounds off thats when you start to see a little difference. I want a 500cc on a 225 lbs GROM, that's the best weight to power ratio
