This is a royal castle, but also in Mexico exist royal palaces and mansions, you should visit Palacio de Iturbide, Palacio Nacional, Antiguo Palacio del Ayuntamiento,Palacio de los condes de Miravalle, Palacio de los Condes de Santiago de Calimaya(Museo de la ciudad de Mexico), Palacio del Conde de Buenavista (Museo de San Carlos), Palacio de los condes de San Mateo de Valparaíso . All them were ancient palaces inhabited by the spanish royality . Also exists ancient mansions that were inhabited by spanish bourgeoisie. I recommend you visit these places. You can find all them in downtown Mexico city.Good luck.

What Victor meant when he said "The Only European Castle in America" I believe he wanted to say: "The Only Royal European Castle on North America", meaning that the Castle hosted actual European royalty rulers whom lived and served in it in all of North America. Disambiguation: In Spanish the word America is used to refer to the Continent and we only consider it to be One single continent and not two as commonly conceived in the US and Canada (north and south america). It is what in the US will be The Americas (plural) which in Spanish means the collective of the american countries. So Victor was correct by expressing himself using the term: America, but I fear some viewers might be confused.

AMErica in English is the same as America in Spanish....... a continent.

      Luciano José Aimar Reyes
America is continent , a country called America doesn’t exist
American citizenship doesn’t exist either !
America , is an Spanish word !
Comes from the Celtíbero spoken in Spain so long ago , the meaning still the same Américo = a leader , person with many friends
The name was adopted in several countries , in Italy derived in Amerigo, Américo Vespucci , an Italian explorer and cartographer was hired by the Spanish. Crown , in order to make clear if the lands found by Columbia. Was India or other land
He made a explored the coast an made a map , along with maps of other explorers , found that this was other continent one continent , not two
This true is accepted world wide
After Vespucci was called America , not , two Americas also called the new world
And was decided geopolitically in three regions , not continents. REGIONS
USA , when signs , an international treaty it refers as USA , not as America and the people of the USA according with their language rules , should be called UNITEDSTATESIANS , not Americans , because , Americans are all the people from Alaska to Argentina !

I was there in 2014. You need more than a day to see this castle of where Maximillian & Carlotta resided. Humongous amounts of jewelry, clocks watches, necklaces on display from back then. They have old time cannons, Gatlin guns rifles, pistols, paintings, the old transportation carriages, dining rooms set in their original settings. So much to see. Down the road from there is the museum where the Aztec Calendar is located along with hundreds of artwork from the Aztecs. Not to mention a replica of Moctezuma's headdress since the original finally decomposed while on loan to Germany (As I was told by someone there)

Great video. Some info on the Castle...the Aztec emperors used to go there for the summers when it got too hot, the Spanish then built a sort of fort up there to defend the city from indigenous attacks, it then became a military bastion during the war of Independence, when the Second Empire was formed (After the Cinco de Mayo battle of Puebla, for reference), Maximilian von Hapsburg (From the Austrian Hapsburg Royal family) was crowned Emperor of Mexico along with his wife, Empress Charlotte from the Belgian Royal Family. EMperor Maximilian decided to convert the fortress into a Royal Palace on top of Chapultepec Hill, but it didn't really fit the dimensions of a Palace so it was renamed the Miravalle Castle during his reign....he opened up avenues like Reforma (Avenida de la Emperatriz), opened up hospitals, gave workers rights, brought in skilled immigrants from Europe to populate and mix with the now mexican population, among many things. Emperor Maximilian loved Mexico, but was brought to Mexico on a basis of lies by a Mexican conservative delegation and the French Emperor Napoleon III who wanted to create a Latin world influence to counter the Anglo-American and British expansions into the Americas. The French Emperor was the first to coin Latin America (The parts of America influenced by the Latin Eruopean countries such as Spain, France, Portugal and with Italian influences through immigration). Brasil has a Royal Palace and Mexico has a Royal Castle.

The statue you saw after loosing Victor is José Maria Morelos y Pavón. He was one of the fighters during the independence of Mexico. He lead the independence movement after Miguel Hidalgo, the priest who started it, was executed. He is also known for establishing the initial ideas that shaped the country: like abolishing slavery, law applied to everyone without privileges, division of power, etc. Google "Sentimientos de la nación" if you are interested in them.

The Chapultepec Castle Is the only one Royal Castle in this continent which was built for the Emperor Maximiliano of Abzbourg & his wife Carlote both from Austria.

    • @victormaciel2295
      @victormaciel2295 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Carlota was from Belgium where she returned after Maximillano went in front of a firing squad. Reform is Maximilliano's version of the Champs Elysee. In his time he could look down reform to the Zocalo. He was an unwanted emperor installed by the French. The castle is actually what is referred to as the Halls of Moctezuma in the song the US Marines sing because the US invaded Mexico City during the US Mexico war. Those statues of the yound cadidates are Heros in Mexico because they saved the flag from being captured by wrapping themselves in it and jump over the from what is now the castles garden. It was at that time like the USA's Westpoint.

Well for those who are wondering:
1-INAH=Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (Nactional Institute of Anthropology and History), the public institution that runs the place, and also takes care of many museums and archeologic sites like Teotihuacan.
2-The castle was built in the mexican colonial period, and during the mexican american war was sieged and taken by the "gringos" (1848), then during the french invasion (1862-1867) Maximiliano de Habsburgo and his wife Carlota lived there, after that was use to be the presidential residence, but after the "Decena Trágica" (an episode of the mexican revolution 1913) the mexican president lives in other place.
3-Chapultepec hill was a sacred place not only for the mexicas (azthecs is not correct), but for all the mesoamerican peoples that lived in the Mexico's Valley.
4-José Maria Morelos y Pavón is a mexican independence hero. A "mulato" that formed a well trained army in the south of the New Spain, he is famous for the siege of Cuautla. He was defeated and killed in 1815.

The castle was actually used as a military academy for a period of time. The six statues situated near one another are of the Heroic Boys/Cadets (best fitting translation imho) who were cadets between the ages of 14 and 19 during the Mexican-American War (Davy Crockett's last stand "Remember The Alamo" battle was the leading factor to this War).
    Wikipedia page
    en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niños_Héroes
The Niños Héroes (Spanish: [ˈniɲos ˈeɾoes], Boy Heroes), also known as the Heroic Cadets or Boy Soldiers, were six Mexican teenage military cadets. These cadets died defending Mexico City's Chapultepec Castle from invading U.S. forces in the 13 September 1847 Battle of Chapultepec, during the Mexican-American War. According to legend, in an act of bravery, Juan Escutia wrapped the Mexican flag around his body and jumped from the top of the castle in order to keep it from falling into the enemy's hands.

Maximiliano I of Mexico, Emperor during the short 2nd Empire of Mexico from 1864 to 1867. After that it was home to Presidents when the Republic was reinstalled. Some think that a Constitutional Monarchy would’ve been much more benefic to Mexico than the Republic, I think that too.

Gerardo Jáuregui of course for such a racist and elitist country with their own people like Mexico that would have been better. Mexico is the type of country that elevates foreign people but discriminate their own.

I think what Victor wanted to say is that this Castle is the only Castle in the continent where an European Monarch has lived, which is, of course, Maximilian of Hamsburg.

I think what Victor the Mexican young guy meant to say is that The Castle of Chapultepec is the only castle is Latin America that was actually built to literally serve as a royal house which it did for Maximilian, Emperor of Mexico 👍

Brazil had emperors Pedro I and II and they had their own palaces. Google them. The castle of Chapultepec was originally a military post, then it was converted into a castle by Emperor Maximilian, and it was finished by Porfirio Díaz, as the castle was the president's residence

José María Morelos y Pavón was the one left in charge of the Independence movement after Miguel Hidalgo I. Costilla died. He’s chosen by Hidalgo himself because he knew him before the war had started, he taught Morelos about religion (Hidalgo was a father). Morelos was killed in battle by the royal army.
