    I would like to point out that Taxco is located in the Mexican state of Guerrero. Guerrero is one of the 5 states that the U.S. government recently advised all Americans not to travel to. Now I'm not trying to downplay the serious violence that is going on in certain parts of Mexico, but I will say this:
    On our two day visit to Taxco, everyone we met was friendly, and the visit was unforgettable. I never felt in danger. So this is the story I'm going to share. Because the truth I've experienced is very different than the travel advisory that is saying all of Guerrero is a "war - zone".
    I encourage other travellers to look past what the media is saying, and find the beauty that is waiting to be found in the small towns of Mexico.

      The New Travel i live in Culiacán, you know, where El Chapo is from lol and people often say Culiacán is super dangerous and yes i mean if you do bad things then bad things happen to you, and Culiacán is full of people doing bad things so sometimes a lot lot of people are killed but they kind of deserve it??? if someone comes here, foreigner or whatever, just stay away from trouble and crouded places and that's it🤗 theres violence just like any other place. you two should come here and visit ! sinaloa has a lot of magic towns as well :)

      Hey how are you ? Hope you guys are fine! I'm a true fan! I was born and raised in Mexico City. Please write to my email so I can guvs you some traveling advice: jeronimozarco@gmail.com I really enjoy your way of seeing Mexico. Some other cool Pueblo Mágicos close to CDMX are: Tepoztlán, Valle de Bravo (Avándaro), Teotihuacán, Malinalco and Tequisquiapan.
      P.S. You pronounced Taxco wrong. It is actually pronounced the way you said it in the minute 0:56.
      Cheers!

      I live in Tijuana (the most dangerous city in México, at least in 2017), there are areas that are dangerous, but even i have been to a few of them and there isn't any "war zone" going on, it is just that you have to be more careful or simply evade them, and you will be ok :)
      The best thing to do is to ask the locals about the place, they will tell you the most realistic panorama. They like having tourists buying their stuff, so they don't want you guys to get robbed or something because that would cause the reputation of their villages to drop.
      Its nice to see so many colonial architecture, its beautiful ^^ here in Tijuana we don't have that at all cause the city is very young :/

      The New Travel My mom and sister are living in Uruapan, in the state of Michoacán today one of the 5 states supposedly they are in a so call "war-zone", and they told me it's very quite, and they don't feel unsafe. I think the U.S. media is bunch of BS, as usual trying to scare people off, mate. They always keep doing that every year which is getting very annoying, a lot.

    We traveled over much of Mexico and along the coast of Guerrero the entire distance. I loved Taxco with it's amazing setting looking up so far and down so deep - amazing place!! We found hotels economical in Mexico and sometimes cheap, but usually very nice. Acapulco we had an ocean view and I thought the resort town has lost it's charm with over development and crowding, but extortion of business has killed the resort's better days, so I'd advise going somewhere else like Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta or the Yacatan, etc. Still, I never experienced any serious problems and it's been a joy to experience Mexico - amazing country and an amazing people!!!

Wow, Taxco is really beautiful. I've heard OF it for years, but this is my first view of it. Between you guys and the Kennons, you are making me really want to visit Mexico again. Go to Tlalpujahua, Michoacán. Mi mother's birth place and not far from México City. Another mining town since the 16th century. Has a lot of history, and open museum in the old mine where you can go down some meters as the miners used to do. It is amazing to see the old place where the town was (about a mile away) . It had to be relocated due to a tragic accident, the mine waste was stored up hill, the walls collapsed and the town was washed away. With the exception of the church wall that held the Virgin (still venerated). You can see the old church tower sticking from the ground. Hope you can make it. Saludos

    Not sure how long are you staying in Mexico, BUT, there are dozens of Pueblos Magicos within 2-hour bus drive from Mexico City, I would recommend going to Pachuca and Real del Monte. Try the 'pastes' in Pachuca (they are pastries with salty or sweet fillings). Not sure how you can go up to Real del Monte since I drove, but maybe a taxi, it's about 30 minutes from Pachuca.

    I just love to see your videos, the first one i saw was of you speaking so good about Chapultepec Park, it was on facebook. Now i been following you two in TH-cam, it´s so so nice the way you talk about my city and country. I love canadians, such a nice and educated people. I have a great canadian friend that lives in Montreal, i met him in Puerto Vallarta, so i went to visit once, he took me to Quebec also, that was a lovely city. We keep in touch and he has come more to Mexico than me to Canada. I hope i can visit Vancouver soon. I saw a video of Polanco, my neighborhood. It was cool to see you both walking near my house. I will keep watching your videos, it´s cool to hear a foreigner impressions. When you want a guide in Downtown with some info, tell me, i know a lot about my city and it´s history, it will blow your mind to see the same things you have seen but with history and facts. Best Pueblos Mágicos i have visited, first near Mexico City: Valle de Bravo, Taxco, Real del Monte. Best ones i think: 1 San Cristóbal de las Casas (Chiapas), 2 Pátzcuaro (Michoacán), 3 Cuetzalan (Puebla),others Izamal (Yucatán), Tequila (Jalisco), Cholula (Puebla), Real de Catorce (SLP), Alamos (Sonora). And Best CIties (for historic value and architecture): Puebla, Oaxaca, San Miguel de Allende, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Morelia, Mérida, Querétaro, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta. Great to watch you.

    love those white buildings in the mountains... it certainly looks magical! The Pueblos Magicos we've been to are Todos Santos (Baja), San Cristobal de las Casas (Chiapas), Tulum (Quintana Roo), Mazunte (Oaxaca), Palenque (Chiapas), Xilitla (San Luis Potosi)... But to be honest, there are some that are not mentioned but had that totally magical Mexican feeling. Guanajuato City should be on that list, but its close neighbor San Miguel de Allende is instead. However we've heard from many people that San Miguel is very touristic and more expensive, whereas GTO City is more authentic, plus it's full of students and has this amazing vibe going on. Haha 5:40 love how you came back for the camera. That sense of humour of yours is awesome :P

    Ok Dan, congrats on your job trying to present some 1st impresions of different places as you travel, taking risks as not prebooking a hotel somewhere you've never visited before and being surprised by the local sightings and its people. Taxco is quite an old town dating its foundation to prehispanic times (taxco: place where the ball games took place in nahuatl) During the XVII century silver was found in this place and its location half way to Acapulco, by the time the most important seaport of the spanish crown in the Pacific ocean from Mexico City made it this place of great interest. the statues you found of head hooded characters withj their naked torso, represent the 3 main religious brotherhoods in Taxco who preform religious processions on Good Thursday and Good Friday after dusk. They are called "Encruzados" and "Flagelarios", meaning the ones who are "crossed" or suffer de cross's pain and the ones who scourge or flagellate themselves. It is very impressive, some people find it difficult to watch, the Catholic Church no longer encourages this practices, nevertheless this brotherhoods are very important to these people because of their religious beliefs, and the powerful experience they obtain from it; even you as a spectator can find spiritual relief and even atonement from it. When you are Christian Catholic a very important part of it is the comprehension of Jesus Christ's Passion, the why and the what for, the reason of all that pain and injustice in order to apply that knowledge to your daily life, this is one way to achieve it.
    Try returning to Taxco next year on Good Friday evening and witness the processions that take place there, it's breathtaking. Book with good time in advance, one or even 2 months before in order to be 1st in the row otherwise you won't be able to visit it
    ...of course I'm Mexican.
    Sougestions: visit Cholula in Puebla, visit Morelia, Pátzcuaro and "Tzin Tzun Tzan" in Michoacán, visit "Real del Monte" in Hidalgo, visit "La Peña de Bernal" in Querétaro, visit Zacatecas, in Zacatecas, visit Tlacotalpan in Veracruz, visit Mérida, Chichen Itzá and Izamal in Yucatán...there are many other places you can visit and have a great experience, check out the "Pueblos Mágicos" internet site

    Those statues are a representation from “la procesión del silencio” (silence procession) celebrated every easter in Taxco. In this procession, local people walk through the town as penitents with their heads covered with black masks and carrying heavy bunches of sticks with spines or very heavy wood crosses. It is a catholic tradition that comes from XVI century and an important part of our Mexican culture.
    Greetings from Mexico City and thank you for your videos...! 😊😊

    There are many Pueblos Mágicos in Mexico. All of them are wonderful. Try pueblos in the state of Michoacán: Patzcuaro, Tlapujahua, Santa Clara de Cobre. They are a must. By the way, I love your videos ! Thanks for showing the world the beauty of our country.

  • @ventana100
    @ventana100 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You should try Tepoztlán, just a one hour from CDMX. If you can go a little bit far, you can’t miss Pátzcuaro, in Michoacán state. It’s a town surrouded by a lake that has in it seven isles, the place is well known for the celebrations of the day of the day of the death, the music, culture, and its history, which it’s a mixture between the purépecha culture and the spanish. It’s a must place to go!

  • @BlazeGelos
    @BlazeGelos 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You really have to visit Pátzcuaro, it has been my favourite pueblo mágico yet, it drives you back in time when you walk at night, and there are a lot of amazing places there in Michoacán like Tlalpujahua, the Paricutín volcano (the youngest volcano in latin america), Santa Clara del cobre, etc.

    GUYS, when you recomend a place to visit, it would be great and very useful if you also write him some places to eat, stay and visit, and why not, some tips too for the place, that way he could spent more time enjoying the place instead of looking for a place to stay. Mexico has a tons of things to offer and time is not enough to see it all. In Taxco there is a silver mine inside a house that you can walk, that mine still has silver and gold, but is not working anymore, is a place where you can see both minerals in their natural state. Greetins from Mexico City.

    xilitla, San luis potosi. Famous for Edward james' surrealist garden. You can book in Caracol Hostel, its in front of the garden and in the middle of the forest.
    Its also close to Tamul, one of the most impressive waterfalls in the whole country.
    Fun fact: i was in taxco a month ago and booked the same hotel xD

I am lucky to have backpacked around a little there myself and saw the beauty of Pueblo Majico Xilitla, San Luis Potosi. Its a piece of paradise in the jungle and it host the surrealist sculptural masterpiece of Las Pozas by Edward James. I recommend you go there and other towns in the Huasteca Potosina.

    Taxco, is in the state of Guerrero. It’s probably the most beautiful and photogenic place I’ve ever visited! I stayed in a hotel called Loma Linda, which overlooks a stunning mountain valley and is only a 15 minute walk to the centre of Taxco (where the church is). - Taxco is famous for its silver, and was founded in 1529, hence the reason all the roads are so small! 😂 I’d very much recommend going there, it’s amazing!
