Also, to further support the speculation of the Fluke Hermit’s isolation giving her some degree of protection from the infection, we see this with Pale Lurker, the Nailmasters, and NPCs such as Mask Maker. In that regard it makes sense for fluke hermit to avoid the infection, considering almost every other uninfected character below the surface is isolated.
