@@daniel2607 I think the OP means the Older Top Gear which had Tiff and co on there, well before May and Hammond joined. According to Wikipedia, TG has had 39 hosts… the buffoon trio were quite late in the piece 🤓

This test was made on the Top Gear track.
Which is what's so confusing about the old Top Gear result. The 12C was WAY faster than the 458 around that track, and apparently McLaren had set up the suspension specifically for it. But it was actually slower in Plato's hands during the 5th gear test. Something about the car didn't gel with Plato's driving style, yet 2nd Gen Stig was lightning quick in it. A cynical person might look at the conflicting results and wonder if McLaren juiced one of their press cars for TG since their influence was so powerful during that era...

When Top Gear tested the MP4 12C Jeremy said it lacked what he called "zing". As far as I'm concerned the Ferrari is just better. Thanks.
British built but am proud to say it still has the NZ kiwi on the bonnet courtesy of Bruce McLaren 😊

I know this was around the end of 5th Gear on Channel 5, and I honestly haven’t seen it since then. They had some good bits and were hosted by legit racing drivers. It was a far 2nd from Top Gear but a great show in its own right.

I used to get excited when both these cars were launched, especially the Mclaren, they havent been making any cars after their F1 and F1 GTR while Ferrari somehow lost their way with the F430

Slam dunk for Ferrari, better looking, better noise, better handling dynamics and way way more feel and fun to drive, the 458 is a true legend and supercar. NA V8 9000rpm, proper screamer, 125HP per litre. The Mclaren is just fast but boring, the Ferrari is just perfection!
458 all day every day, not even close.
It was obvious back in the day and even more obvious today.
😂 How many times will you drive these 2 cars like this ?? The 458 can't sit with the 12C in any acceleration test, I'll take the 12C and smoke 💨 a 458 time and again from a digg !!! 😁
Too bad both brands are destined to go full electric in the not so distant future….purchase a gasoline powered car while you can, or else TH-cam will be the closest you’ll get to this “Ecstasy.”
