It was an injoke of the band even before AHDN referring to Elvis or Cliff movies where someone would say that line and a song would start up out of nowhere, going into AHDN they specifically said they didn't want a “why don’t we do the show right here" type movie, then typically out of sheer sarcasm Lennon still puts it in lol
I was born in 1998, long after John died and a few years before George passed. However, I can’t even explain to you how much John and George have influenced my life
That’s interesting for me to read Jacob. I grew up in the sixties, with the Beatles at the centre of my life. They have remained as companions all these years. It’s good to think their magic is still being appreciated!
Oh wow, didn't spot that before.. thought it was a bit strange she was singing 'Oh Yoko'... I wonder if she wrote the song?! After all, 'Oh, John' rhymes with 'My love will turn you on', unlike 'Oh Yoko' (although 'Oh Yoko' does kind of scan better, at least the way John sings it..) Don't forget she more or less wrote 'Imagine', or at least the basic concept and structure of the song - in her book 'Grapefruit' IIRC - without ever being credited for it.
Imagine being in the next hotel room and wondering who's brought their guitar with them on holiday and then realising it was the one and only. Imagine.
Correct. Almost all of Abbey Road was recorded after this film was made. A few other things, too, like Paul and John finishing You Know My Name (Look up the Number) together, and of course I Me Mine (though John and Yoko were in Denmark when the other three recorded I Me Mine).
I have a severe anxiety, listening to John Lennon singing about Yoko makes me feel very calm, most people I think live their lives and die without finding their soul mates, John found his and put the feeling in words, in art, that makes me feel very calm
Everyone just talks about the experimental pieces she’s done with the screaming, I think it’s universally agreed that’s not really music and more art, but when she’s just normally singing, she sounds great.
If you want to dig more of yoko's real vocal, u can check out her album called "Approximately Infinite Universe”, literally all good works there, she's really been underrated.
I think it was great early on, but she fed his heroin addiction which kept him locked in a miserable marriage. It’s really sad when I first read about it
It seemed like a pretty unhealthy co-dependency in both directions. John was using Yoko to fill a deep hole in his soul caused by the absence of his parents and Yoko saw in him someone she could use to promote her own artistic vision. And the whole thing was filled with substance abuse and physical abuse.
He is always in my heart♥️ I was born long after his death, but I love all his music. I really really respect you RIP😢 My dream is to be like him who touches every people’s heart😢♥️♥️
It was these years that he literally walked the earth. He was an evangelist for peace with stronger influence than most government leaders. Genuinely seeking an elevated state for mankind.
I wish I had seen this sooner, Oh Yoko and I Want You (She's So Heavy) are two of my favorite songs, and here combines them both with great effect. What an amazing artist John was, never to be forgotten.
Thanks to whoever posted this incredible video. My socks haven't been blown off like that in so long, one of my favorite songs captures so raw. God damn that's good.
Absolutely love this. Watching a genius crafting his art. Stunning to think his dozens and dozens of massive hits likely started like this with him and his guitar.
@WILD BILL When i finished reading your comment, i was really pissed. But then i realized that you called Yoko "Yoyoma" so i guess you are trying to be funny, good one buddy.
I have never seen this footage of John and Yoko. Such a beautiful acoustic live version of a much under rated love song. It’s just so good to hear this unpolished raw version and sometimes these takes on a particular song, are often time better than the recorded interpretations we all know. Regardless of that though, any live footage of the great man is a privilege to watch and listen too. Not bad harmonies by Yoko Ono either to be fair. This is Romeo and Juliet on film and so no matter how much we think we know the man or judge his life decisions, Lennon was no mug and was clearly in Love. I think this song and the first 2 solo albums specifically, gave John a new purpose and musical identity, a new direction, a new vision. The love maker...the peace maker...the dreamer who could finally imagine. Sure he had his critics and his accusers but he was a great man ultimately, a talent so natural as to be unparalleled as a modern day songwriter. However more important than all that, he was a man who learnt to face his demons and accept the inner Angel....he eventually came to truly love and be loved. God rest his soul and may he rest in eternal peace.♥️🙏🎼x
He was amazing. Sounds simple what he's doing, but he's actually totally grooving with his guitar playing, and nailing every note he sings. That's tough to pull off.
On 10th October 2020 my father (age 84, lonely in old people's home) told me he heard this song by radio. It touched his soul so much and tears were running over his cheeks. But he's German and understood "Oh Yoko", only. That was enough... This song I didn't know - and now I can "show" it to him, so he will be sad and glad at the same time! Thanks for this upload!

@@w1lf1ewoo It's a fair point - John was immensely creative but he wouldn't have written this (or the Plastic Ono or Imagine albums) without her in his life.
