That last patch sounds like it was massive. So nice when devs listen to their audience/customers and improve their game. I really want to get this but trying to wait till it releases on steam.
It was definitely a very nice update. If you are on the fence, I would wait until the steam release. There are still many bugs and features that need to be balanced, but the game is definitely heading in the right direction. Sometimes I am amazed at the fixes or balances they make, because they are things that other devs would scoff at or think they aren't worth fixing. These devs really seem to listen to feedback, within reason of course.
To this point... for this game... your channel is the one to watch. You go step by step and for the important things (basic things, but important things) like how to sell a ship, how to implement an economic strategy, you show all movement towards battles (not editing that stuff out is actually important). I was watching another channel and the individual running the content spent 20 minutes complaining about how EASY this game is while playing on NORMAL and complaining that the game design was all wrong. Unfortunately, I can never get that 20 mins of my life back. So far, after playing this for about a month and a half, I can make to the the end of the first year on "Hard" with about 1/3 of attempts. To be clear, I never "Save Scum" (save prior to a battle and replay if I don't like the outcome). Unfortunately, for the majority of that time, I had a bug that would not let me attack any forts that were level 2 or above. The recent patch has repaired this issue, so now I think I will follow your general strategy of taking the Forts West of the Hudson. It seems a great way to expand territorial holdings and improve economy (through resources gained) plus, all of the territory gained south of Ticonderoga can be very lightly guarded. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the kind words. I just try to have fun at the moment. I will make comments where I feel things should be changed or changes that I like that were implemented, but I do understand that it is an early access game and that balance will be in a state of perpetual fluctuation. I will be transparent though, I do save scum the Naval portion of the game as it doesn't seem to be well developed yet, and you can just lose your entire fleet to a random enemy fleet of 3rd rate ships lol.
I have watched 3rd rates destroy my entire fleet as well... LOL Insanely frustrating, especially when you try to be extremely patient watching sea zone numbers. Not sure if you have experienced this, but something unique happens with Thrid Rates on Auto Resolve... their crew number does not decrease. Not sure it thats a bug or by design @@Quickslvr_Gaming
Understandable. I play a lot of different games, but this channel seems to be moving toward a Historical or real time strategy channel based on what my viewers like. Who knows, maybe one day I can create a 2nd channel that is just the fun random stuff.
44:00 I’m pretty sure that because they aren’t in a town. Because it brings you the edit screen and you can’t edit units outside of a town not because they are part of an army.
Just tested it and I think you are right. That's unfortunate because that makes it really hard to see what kind of weapons a unit is equipped with if they are not in a town.
That makes too much sense. I was just thinking that I had inferior guns. I will keep an eye out for that more. I am assuming that is when the wind is nearly perpendicular to the ship.
@@Quickslvr_Gaming When the wind is blowing hard from say right to left, and you have lots of sail out, then the right side (starboard) guns will have a longer range as they will be angled up, and vice versa for the left. You can compensate for high wind tilting by reducing sails.
I think I need to do a lot of testing with custom battles to truly understand the Naval part of this game. All of that makes sense to me, I just didn't think it would actually be in the game.
I need to restart and figure out the provisions. My last campaign I had quite a bit and as soon as winter hit they were gone. I was able to beat the campaign but that was brutal
I've spent a lot of time in Concord in and around the battle site. Do you think they'll update the map to more closely match the historical location? At the moment, it doesn't even include the Old North Bridge. Edit: The second way you pronounced minutemen is correct -- they were elite militia who were expected to be ready for combat within a minute's notice, hence "minute" men.
I am not sure. It's rather odd because their American Civil War game has very well done and accurate looking battlefields. Since this is a sandbox and the historical mission is just a tutorial that people will probably be able to skip, I am not sure they will change it. Kind of a shame.
No, it's based on Ultimate General: Civil War. That being said, almost all strategy games like this are influenced by total war. The original creator for this series is Darth of the famous Darthmod series for total war. So you will definitely see similarities.
@@Quickslvr_Gaming Idk the time stamp but in one of your first engagements after concord when you noticed an officer was killed and it kinda sucked that you lost him, the name was Benjamin Martin. Only reason i noticed it. but yea otherwise, love the vids, can't watch religiously even though i want to. You're going to be and already are an incredible RTS youtuber if you choose to stick with it. I wish the algorithm were changed so it wasn't geared towards funneling as much views into the trending views as possible, it's really a genre that'd I'd like to watch more creators do and get the game companies to pump out some awesome grand strategy style games like UG, TW, and other names from over the years. Keep it up👍
Lol! I just want to get through the content before I go for hard and ultimate. I was thinking of doing a hardmode or ultimate stream. If I get a 2nd campaign in before the next year is released, it will be on hard.
Thanks very informative loved it looking forward to apply the lessons to my new playthrough
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative. Thanks for taking the time to explain the funding and tech tree options. Looks like a great game!
I'm glad you liked it!

@@Quickslvr_Gamingbig fan of the ultimate general games. Pretty certain I will get it just like the ease of it all being in steam.

just subbed hope to enjoy your series of this.. I love the UG platform.. played a lot of UG civil war
Glad to have you on board! I love the Civil War series and have a Union campaign playthrough here.
@@Quickslvr_Gaming Nice 👍 I've dabbed in a few campaign but my viewers come from Zombie games so I play it offline mostly thanks for replying

45 minutes also makes a lot of sense, it's a standard for a lot of strategy game YTers

A new campaign, how good 👌
Always an exciting time! I have been waiting for this update for what feels like forever. Really it has been less than two months...
@@Quickslvr_Gaming Yeah its a bit like that! 😂
damn totally missed you started the full series on this
Great stuff dude , i love it
Appreciate it! All hail the JellyBean.
love the new name of the General, a little more realistic
I would prefer if it were one word, but oh well.
When the wind tilts your ship to one side at some point the guns elevation cant compensate for that so you have shorter range

Supply Wagons really help with your main army. Spreading out your forces during Winter also really helps to not overload a city.
45 minutes is a good base time

hey brother, is there a game like this but napoleonic era? that would be the dream...
Not yet.
Is this game based on Total War? The UI looks so familiar. 🤔
