After a 5 year hiatus, Squarepusher returns with ‘Be Up A Hello’, released 31 January 2020. Squarepusher’s own ‘Fracture’ remix first dropped during his brain-melting breakbeat and jungle set for the WXAXRXP x NTS takeover in June.
This has quenched my thirst for filth.. please upload his set somewhere online. It's not available on NTS! www.nts.live/shows/wxaxrxp/episodes/squarepusher-live-from-nts-london-22nd-june-2019
720p on purpose... I see whats your doing, you want me to enjoy my compression, my artifacts, and yes I do, anything from the gift giver is a good thing. and yes I did think of wipeout, my childhood gaming days, gaming on ps1, custom built pc in my backyard tree house fort thing... also all those years of squarepusher music, telling everyone I know, this guys big in my world, maybe some day everyone will get a chance to enjoy his music! Thx Tom!! Just as squarepusher is out of his hiatus we too need to wake up and smell the ashes.
One of the best tracks I heard in recent years. It's one of this rare occasions where a remix transcends the original, and offers a new interpretation. A true tour de force.
Squarepusher was always the go to soundtrack for trips. Helped me embrace the confusion of the journey. Even when shit would get super dark and overwhelming I knew the squarepusher sound was there.
I heard this first in that mad film Bull. Glad I was able to find out what it was called. Its a gnarly piece,I dont know if its quite jungle or d&b, tempos sounds well slow but it might be the gate on the drums, the sounds are totally jungle/d&b/techstep style. Its great tbh.
This and the non-remix are both classic Squarepusher. Im excited. I wont lie, his more recent output started to lose me. But a new album with old equipment that goes back to his roots is perfect. I hope he still plays some bass on this though. And live too, as he just announced tour dates near me
He performed this at Brighton's Concorde 2 (27.10.2021). I couldn't place the track because I kind of thought this was a bit poor compared to the original. No more. This was oppressively dark and liberatingly beautiful that night. I felt like I was shattered into a billion colours and possessed by a menacing future of impenetrable darkness. I felt like the machines had taken over and I was pleased to discover I was one of them. That night surpassed my wildest dreams, musically.
Best shit I've tripped to in a while...bordering on scary.Totally transports and delivers the goods.Trip city with a disturbing UFO sinister delight... Excellent work.Thankyou Sir.🤚🔳
i was it the beach and some other guy playing real loud mainstream on his radio. lot of people playing music but not as close and loud like him. so my mate pluged his sprakers system in i played this track always pitching the volume higher. so it overcome the other guy. he leaved before this track was ended this was so good 😊
I really like how he more or less put forward two different intakes for the same track (which, yeah, I know how remixes work, but hear me out): The original being the hard-to-digest version, but incredibly satisfying if the soundwaves resonate with your brain at that moment in time. And this being much more easily consumable, a more rigid pattern, yet still incredibly intricate. (oh and frikkin sweet aswell). (btw, describing basically anything Squarepusher's made as formulaic/rigid is indeed antithetical, but just, yknow, comparatively)
This has an uptempo dark vibe that is finely accentuated by the textured beats, breakbeat snares and deep "evil" sound droning. It's a fantastic piece of what i'd call industrial electronic
this is amazing! This remix great! The breakdown in this version its so cool, The other things Such a fan! TY for sharing super excited for your next remix
Was wondering the same thing, odd choice of name for a remix when it could have been fracture the producer. That's what I thought it was before reading this comment.
Holy shit this is so good, I’ve definitely been sleeping on square pusher, wasn’t instantly a fan when I listened to “hard normal daddy” but this is incredible and right up my street

@Sayag Nice tracks - thank you for sharing. Might want to contact Hymen Records or Schematic, methinks your tracks would fit nicely on there.
Because this is f.king daddy
It's not dark it's light x I honestly believe both squarepusher and aphex are healing forces xx

The mastering is pretty good too
Whoa this is exactly what I needed to hear.
It's like a Selection Sixteen track!! Fuck yeah acid crunch groove!
Delay/reverb sounds fantastic.
oh my fucking god this was my fav track from warp30 set, so glad to see it released
I'm actually thinking this is the best track he's released in a long long time
Maybe best track he's done since tundra4.
For sure - definitely the best track he's released in the last 5 years.
I love the contrast of acoustics between instruments. Once again proving a convention doesn't need to be observed if handled skillfully...
yup so different this best track from him, he mustn been hella high while pulling this shit together.
IMO he is only decent at idm style jungle, i think all the other stuff is boring or noodling.
Thank you Mr. Notch
Holy hecc, this is formidable, finding myself listening to this nonstop these days
It's like he put a microphone into my brain and heart while I was asleep. I love this track.

Same, that movie was crazy reminded me of Dead Man's Shoes.. I agree with you, it's difficult to say what genre it is but it's similar to jungle imo

Original and the album it was all all pale in comparison imo

Same, found it using Shazam, took a few attempts for it to find.
Same, but to be fair the scene is horrible, its like a bad acid trip
this actually reminds me of Selection Sixteen, which I like a lot
Such a lovely soup of resonance and gated reverb - future-proof! Old school beats still relevant.
This is the most refined use of Amen break I’ve ever heard. Really brilliantly done.

Evil sounds, badass masterpiece
Reminds of some of the music sounds in an activision video i played in the early 1980s great track

The musical equivalent of black mirror honestly. Somehow everything that Squarepusher made fascinates me while it freaks me out at the same time.
Watch the vid for Detroit people mover, it's so great and kinda eerie.

A bewildering array of vintage analogue and digital hardware.
