    At what price would you consider buying a booster box of Lorcana? I was hoping to buy many boxes at 150$, with a ceiling of one box at the ceiling of 200$. That won't be happening anytime soon 😅.

      For the two months (at a minimum), I doubt I'll find any local 'respectable' game store selling boxes. They'll sell packs - with a cap on how many can be bought. Once the packs hit the big box retailers, I doubt the big box retailers will care if you buy 1 pack or 1000 packs - they just want the product to be sold rather than shoplifted. I would prefer to by booster boxes (and booster cases) at a discount, but I am willing to pay MSRP at launch, but I will not pay markups of 50% or greater.

      @@gordonkane9608 Hopefully the Big Box retailers will have a lot of stock, forcing the price down, and the local stores to compete with them. #WishfulThinking

      I was hoping for prices more comparable to the Pokemon TCG. It is hard to justify buying packs for Lorcana when my kids are interested in Pokemon as well.

      @@channelaboutthischannel6035 I agree, Lorcana is going head to head with Pokemon and they need to have competitive prices to breach the market. The double-digit pack price in Big Box stores has me concerned.

    I'm in Canada too. Very interesting. This sucks, I want to get my hands on some cards asap but didn't realize how bad the prices were. Maybe I'll just grab the starter decks and play some games vs friends. I do want to pick up a booster box or 2 eventually.

    • @GeniusYoshi

      Hopefully you will be able to get your hands on the starter decks. There seems to be a portion of products reserved for events at local game stores. You should be able to get some that way.

    Yes in asia, its pre order for 400$ canadian, freakin "PRE-ORDER".
    Its almost a month income in asia, if you need to pay for rent + your meal, thats what you get for a month of work, 1 box, pay the rent, and your meal.
    Its insanely outrageous ngl

      Indeed! I wonder how fast the prices will fall. We probably still need a few months before printing catches up... and then there is the Second Chapter and the holidays.

    So as a heads up in the US prices were about $275-$300 that I could get in the 18th. I did find a local card shop that limited items to 2 per family per day and for my two boxes at $150 each. I ripped them. Got an enchanted alternate art Maui. Just decided to sell today for $150 USD. I am doing this with my daughter as both a collector and someone who likes TCGs. It was tough to rip both boxes and not keep one. I’ll say that

      The prices here in Canada are about the same on the 18th. Congratulations on the Enchanted art Maui!! I find that collecting cards is more fun when the boxes are opened and the cards are nicely laid out in a binder. They might lose a bit of value, but I have more fun looking at them, and that is an important part of the hobby. :)

    I preordered from my LGS 5 boxes at 300$US each because that's the price that hurts to pay but doesn't feel like I'm overpaying for the value. 150-200$US is a pipe dream. You have to think like a collector. Collectors are going to buy these boxes and keep them sealed for many years, hoping they reach 1000$US+ in the next 5+ years. The important thing is the sealed boxes. Everything that's sold at big box stores i.e. single packs, deck boxes, treasure trove, and single cards, will tank but those single sealed boxes will be and stay expensive.

    • @GeniusYoshi
      @GeniusYoshi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations on your boxes! 300$ at this time is a pretty good deal. I expect that Ravensburger will catch up on printings and that TheFirstChapter boxes will be available eventually. I could be wrong though, in which case, collectors will win their 1000$s a box ;).

    FacetoFaceGames wants 450 dollars for a booster box. It's ridiculous. They also want 300 dollars for a Trove!! Troves have an MSRP of 65 dollars. 401 Games had a very limited supply go up for sale for 250 dollars a booster box, but those sold out before I could blink, and 250 is too high anyway. The MSRP is already VERY high on Lorcana packs, and at that price, a booster box should be 192 dollars. So 200 dollars is the most I would pay for one. I'll wait and see what Walmart sells them for.

    • @GeniusYoshi
      @GeniusYoshi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ridiculous indeed! 300$ for a Trove... it really is a Lorcana-Mania right now. I'm looking forward to see how the next rounds of restock will look like. I also hope thay Wallmart packs won't get all snatched up instantly as well. Only time will tell. At some point, demand will slow down at those high price points, at which point prices will have to go down.

    • @GeniusYoshi
      @GeniusYoshi  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is partially true. It means that you get more 'higher rarity' cards for the same price. Whether the chase cards are actually rarer depends on the pull rates. Lorcana pull rates are pretty decent, so I would agree with you that they are better, but maybe not 2:1 better.

    • @GeniusYoshi
      @GeniusYoshi  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pokemon has guaranteed 3 foils per pack with all rares+ foils and multiple alternate-full-arts in a box. I think that Lorcana is lacking foil-wise. I would of like Rares+ to be foiled. I really enjoy the Enchanted Rares, but they are a bit too rare...
