It had to happen EVENTUALLY | Wild Camping on Pen-y-Ghent in the Wild Country Helm Compact 1

- Coming up in todays adventure we head to the Yorkshire Dales. Our plan is to do a wild camp up on the summit of Pen-y-Ghent and we were hoping our recent luck with the weather was about to change, stick around and find out how we get on.
We parked up in Horton in Ribblesdale and started our ascent via Brackenbottom, this is the shortest but steepest way up Pen-y-Ghent which is hard work with a heavy backpack but good fun and epic views. Once at the top we waited for the crowds doing the 3 peaks challenge to disappear before setting up our homes for the night. My tent of choice for this trip was the Wild Country Helm Compact 1 which is a great little one man tent which can take some weather and can be relied on, Tony was in his Hilleberg Soulo which is a beast of a tent, so we both felt safe if the weather made a change for the worse.
The evening went great with temps dropping to around 2.5 degrees and very little wind it looked like our luck had changed, the only thing that would have made it better would have been some clear skies, for some astro photography, but you can't have everything.
The morning brought little change in the weather so with a couple of cloud Timelapse's done and breakfast sorted we packed the tents away and made our way back to the car. Our descent was towards Horton Moor so we could take a visit to Hull Pot, Hull Pot is a collapsed cavern 18 metres deep and 91 metres long, an impressive hole in the ground created by nature.

Cracking night, another great spot in that area with flat ground, a wall for wind protection and fantastic views is Buckden Pike.

What’s going on guy’s, was that the sun I saw there! Glad you both managed a camp in decent weather for a change. It makes a huge difference to be able to sit outside and not be stuck in the tent all night. Nice video work Phil 👌

Great camp Phil👍 You finally broke free of the Noble weather curse😂 I camped on all three of the peaks last year and I think Pen-Y was my favourite. I didn't stay right on the summit though. Dropped down the east side slightly, near a massive sink hole. I was on my own so couldn't relax near the top with the risk of walkers coming by. All the best mate😁

@@R6PhilOutdoorEnthusiast Whernside is the best for the views. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Scafells. It's pretty pants for camping on the summit but if you head north a bit to Little Whernside there are plenty of nice spots. Ingleborough is pretty bad....but saying that it's probably because it lashed it down and my phone got soaked and ruined 😂
