- (26) With a glorious presence for over 50 years, Shaw Brothers (邵氏兄弟) was the leading and largest movie studio in Hong Kong. The first two Shaw(s) Shields actually referred to Shaw Studio (邵氏製片廠), a branch under Shaw & Sons Ltd (邵氏父子有限公司) set up by Runde Shaw (邵邨人) in 1950.
When his brother Run Run Shaw (邵逸夫, 1907-2014) came from Singapore to Hong Kong in 1958 to establish Shaw Brothers (Hong Kong) Limited in 1958, the legendary SB Shield was introduced. Since then, SB concentrated on film production in Shaw Studio (bought from Shaw & Sons, hence the SB-Shaw Studio byline) while Shaw & Sons focused on theatre operation and film distribution.
Having produced more than 1,000 titles, SB's collection is a treasure of Hong Kong cinema fans. After a long break since 1985, its successor, in the name of Shaw Moviecity (邵氏影城), will continue its mission in producing quality Hong Kong films for audiences around the world.

Still remember, 70's and 80's.
Mobile Cinema from Shaw Brothers will travel to every Estates those days. 1973 until 1983.
The studio topped the Chinese box office sales from the 1950s and 1960s, and many then-future Golden Harvest workers worked for Shaw during the time period.
Watched "Triumph in the Skies" 2 days ago in a cinema and witnessed the full version of the new Shaw Brothers Pictures ident. I'm overwhelmed to see it in big screen.
Though I haven't located it in the Internet so far, the following is what I saw as I can recall: Deep space with lots of stars, the 3D Shaw shield and the letters SB emerges. You can even see the details of the ray lines in the shield. The ident is a crossover of Universal-Comcast and Warner Bros idents, with a remastering of the Shaw fanfare., while the TVB logo dashed in like a spinning star not until the last few seconds.
It came after the Shaw Moviecity ident, and I never thought of hearing the Shaw fanfare twice, in different versions.
Definitely a MUST in coming showcases! =D

You may think that all Shaw Brothers films were the ones that made famous and created the SHAW BROTHERS FORMULA.
A good news to all: Recently there's a new company called Shaw Brothers Pictures Ltd, with the byline "A Member of TVB Group" (A parent-child reversal - Shaw formerly owned TVB). Its ident will be shown in two films to be released in CNY 2015, namely "Triumph in the Skies" and "From Vegas to Macau II". See the 1-second clip yourself at watch?v=1QBiIFpqhSI (11-12th second). I surely can't wait for the full version!!
