Pi saying that he wanted to be baptized was showing that he didn't fully understand what his father was saying at the time. His father was explaining that believing in just religion could only take one so far. Earlier in the movie Pi explains that God didn't cure him of polio it was the medicine. Which made his lesson more effective because when you don't feel God's presence at a certain moment in life logic is just as suitable a solution.
Mr Reddy Both he and his brother were lucky to have such a beautiful woman for a mother. And the same could be said for their father. He was a lucky man to have had a wife like her.
Very under-appreciated movie. I love the conversations between Pi and his father. They have their disagreements, but they are both right in their own way and make excellent points. It's a shame we probably won't get a chance to see movies like this being made anymore. Movies really went downhill after 2015 when everything started becoming too politically correct.
