Robert Greene studied at U.C. Berkley, and he received a degree in classical studies from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Robert published his first book, The 48 Laws of Power, at the age of 36 and has since become one of our generation’s most influential writers. He’s responsible for several inventive successes, including The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law, Mastery, The Art of Seduction, and his most recent work, The Laws of Human Nature.
His works are widely praised by a variety of sources, including war historians and acclaimed musicians and actors like 50 Cent, Jay-Z, and Will Smith, amongst many others. Several of his books appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Robert was also featured in the first episode and Episode 713 of The School of Greatness, so please check out those interviews after hearing this one!
Robert also has personal knowledge of what it takes to overcome hardship. In 2018, he suffered a massive stroke, and he’s had a long road to recovery. But Robert refuses to quit, and today he continues to work, write, and hike just like he used to! I am so inspired by this man and his ability to maintain hope even in the wake of tragedy. You’re going to learn so much from Robert about attitude, human nature, and success, so let’s dive in!

My biggest takeaway: I do let others do most of the talking when they're telling me their stories, but this interview reminded me of how important it is, to give others a chance to speak. To treat people like they were a character in a movie (I think that is what I heard).

Robert Green is a Great Writer. Have you seen how his tactics on the book "the art of Seduction" is currently being used by the world leaders... 3 word charms, confusion, isolation and Facial adornments, hyptnotic rythym, having everyone reminded of it on the radio, tv, at the grocery stores, online ads, in the streets and homes watching people and listening to people tell you to wear a 😷, lock downs, people self diagnosing themselves as sick, the hospital numbers, and misuse of pcr tests...the whole "covid-15" is psychological warfare.. The obstacle is the way.. Gotta switch this focus and Focus on INTENTION, world Recovery and REBUILDing

I’ve worked with him several times, he truly is a humble genius - they should be teaching his works in university instead of all the woke victim/blame garbage that’s infuriating or politics and university - it’s not left or right, it’s all within each of us, the ability to get ourselves where we want to be in every aspect of our lives.

At 34:34, when Robert mentions to look for behavior patterns in humans. This helped me realize why some people never change. They can put on a front in the beginning, but the true colors will always come through in the end. This is also why many hiring interviews have "Behavioral" type questions. Thanks for introducing me to Robert Greene.

How true. Failure teaches you so much. For example I had a community art gallery and got ripped off by a trusted friend. I had adopted children, big house. worked to support us all, useless partner. I had a break down. Then I decided to have a break from art and go into IT. I went and got an old computer out of a school skip. I ended up getting ripped off a couple of times but learnt. Then I learnt to build them, how to program myself. I decided to go back to University for a year. It was tough financially but I ended up with a super well paid job, and being head hunted for my IT skills. I ran huge IT suites and did lots of good stopped people getting ripped off and fixed their computers etc. That was a while ago. I'm struggling a little now because my whole family has died over ten years, then my partner died last year. So it's been awful but the hard times in life have helped me cope immensely.

Robert Greene's philosophy of not going against the way people are is extremely powerful. One can develop this philosophy which when implemented can be akin to social judo. Greene's philosophy may allow people to judge less and enjoy people more. We might use this philosophy to understand other people rather than attempting to fix them.

When he passed I stood up to the bullies and they ended up following me round. I stopped being a good girl and went for it. It was hard but it did save me. It has many times through out life. I'd posit the horse is one's emotions and the reins are the rational mind and You is the rider, the one in the driver's seat, the one with agency. The illusion is that the horse leads the way and the reins allow/express or contain/repress the horse and You gallop or meander at the folly of the horse and what its blindered eyes see directly ahead. This can be discerned as lack of control = powerlessness = hopelessness. One's mission in life a la The Cosmic Joke is to become the Alchemist who has more legitimacy than the Chemist hah

I think Robert is a gentle soul but when it came to his theory of the Big Bang he lost me and unfortunately validity in my eyes...he knows some great definitions but needs to get in touch with the true spiritual side of life. His views will become much wider and his writing more enlightening. The dark side of us originates from the spirit world and becomes a nature of repetitive actions. But can always change course with resistance of that original spirit.

52:35, How about Tony Dorsett? Is it Bogsey Malone? Lewis, perfect question.
This question and his answer explains it all. We are lost as a species.
When, people unknowingly shift from out of the flow and into the flow. They should be in a state by which they become unaware of their actions.
For example, I'm 10, trying to left that saddle with a pulley. I got it up, but how do I keep it up and get my horse under it. I couldn't.
A year earlier, before moving out to live on a ranch, 20 miles from the nearest town, Dryden Tx.
One day, I noticed our neighbor, looking back, I would say he was in his 70s, breaking a wild horse. And how he did it was by wrapping the rope around a pole in the center of a pen. Once he got the horse to the pole, he mounted the horse.
So, I took the rope and wrapped it around this board that separated the shed in parts.
Not once was there a word in my head. The process is done through a state known as #mushin.
You see Lewis, we were never gathers of food, wood, and so on. We were gathers of knowledge. By having a silent mind. When we are in situations unknown to us. If, we have done well at gathering knowledge. The data would be there to move us through just about any situation.
If not, that situation, that experience would feed our brain with knowledge.
Thus, the more knowledge, the greater the chance we will have at survival.
We are the only species that is tuned into ourselves. We are a rouge species. Some more so than others.
Completely unaware of myself in the 8th grade. During basketball practice. I out ran the fastest kid in school. During 8th I was lifting on the military press, 275 pounds with one arm, getting underneath it and with a stiff arm push it up.
Unfortunately, working out on weight damaged my growth plates and stopped my growth, but,I'm cool with it. 5' 8" works for me.
It's what we do with our brain that matters, right?

I think about suicide quite a bit, but it feels like a natural response to the world Im living in.. And Ive got it easy, even if I feel more than others. Krishnamurti once wrote: _It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society._ I'd say, like so many of his writings, he hit the nail on the head.

I find Robert Greene's mind and books fascinating. This interview is excellent, thank you. Biggest takeaway for me was how he viewed his stroke in a positive manner. Secondary takeaways are the specifics on how negativity motivates, as well as how our initial judgments of others will alter our experiences with them.

Greene's earlier books always warned against breaking the rules, providing historical examples of "transgressions".
In the Laws of Human Nature, he reversed his usual advice and says to *break* the rules.
I don't understand why his fundamental framework has been reversed.

So many powerful concepts in this video my biggest takeaway is ridding of the idea of being superior or perfect. Thinking "Oh I'm not bad everyone else is or I have more morals than most people". We all have flaws. Being able to come to that understanding will take work but its something that stood out the most and taking baby steps to come out of that mindset.
