@@fikilemonnye2636 I'm 33, this is my final year at WeThinkCode. I have an interview with some company next week. When I was 24 I thought I was too old for school. That is fully your judgment. NB: In my case I have zero responsibilities, no child etc.
You know its not the job the pays but the company. You might be in any field in IT as a junior working for a company that pays you R12. So guys please be aware of that.
Hi Boni, I love your content and appreciate the effort you put into sharing salary insights for different careers. However, I've noticed that you tend to focus more on IT professionals. I think it would be great if you could also explore other high-paying careers like Mining Engineers, Chief Safety Officers, Safety Managers, SHEQ managers, Risk managers, and Operations Managers. @SiyakhaPlaatjie Check out the report from Offerzen, called State of software developers in South Africa 2024, it goes deeper into the specifics. But overall, it's mostly backend developers in java, mobile devs in flutter that tend to earn more, this depends on experience though. i've been trying to get atleast an internship as a software developer (diploma) since graduated back in 2021 now i am even thinking of going back to school but still i owe the institution a lot of money
Why you asking recruiters to help? You interviewed a recruiter. They going to ask for his salary slip and then tell him, oh you can only get 10% or 20% increase, coz its "UNFAIR" for the company to increase your salary more than that. Irrespective if you already been exploited and massively been underpaid.

IT job saturation is not something to happen anytime soon in South Africa and the whole of the African continent. I am a Software Engineer, and I have worked in a few industries (airline, banking and insurance), the reality of it is that we are still adopting technological advancements in SA and the continent. Yes, SA may be one of the most advanced countries, however, there is still a lot of demand for critical skills in the IT industry, especially in the software space. I always say that, when someone joins a company, if you can learn what the business does and align yourself with solving problems for that particular vision or mission, then you have a lifetime career. You can literally work in any industry without any issues.
