This is why career advice from knowledgeable people is important. U.J used to have a diploma called Financial information systems. It included cost accounting, management accounting, business law, financial accounting, software skills & systems learning. The language that was mostly used was "Visual-Basic". You can use that to either go into tech or finance
I'm always surprised by how much people don't know about their qualifications or facilties. The emails I get from people asking me about things that I feel should be readily available to them. Someone would ask, " What type of job can I do with this degree?" And I ask what the professors are saying or student advisors? 🙄
I enjoyed this interview, very insightful💯 On behalf of us getting into Data Science, it would be helpful to get a guest who walks us through their journey in detail just like this lady did😭❤️
Im realising that in life you need to work hard to better yourself and also take advantage of any situation. Good or bad. I know a friend that left a Software engineering role to venture into finance. We all thought it was a bad bet but his passion and hard work are payong off now yoh. He is good now. Bought a house in Braynston , investing in property back at our hometown. So guys lets not be shy to do a 180 career change. Educate yourself there are so manny online resources nowadays.
South Africa is moving very slow. Computer science and software engineering are two different fields. From what I have learnt, Observed and experienced, you do not need a CS degree to become a Software Engineer. Software Engineering focuses on the application of computer science, whereas Computer science, focuses on the fundamental or basics of computer programming. I think the main reason why some of these companies require CS degrees, is because of Tenders. Why would you need a CS degree for a web developer??? There is no need for a web developer to know what a binary code is or how these programming languages are created. This is just my two cents. These things are not the same.
This is true. That Is why I don't like people who say that Computer Science is a useless degree is you can teach yourself how to code. Just because you live in a place where computer science is not properly utilized, doesn't make CS useless.
@@LM-he7eb You only get to understand these things after doing some intense research. Software Engineering is the application of computer science. Guys who hold CS degrees are able to create new technologies and program a computer to do new things. Whereas a software engineer uses what is available to create software applications.
What a good point you are raising right here about tenders 👏. I must say, it never crossed my mind because I've never done the course or worked in that environment so I wouldn't know.
No degree is useless, especially CS. How can that be even up for a discussion?. What I've noticed in the past two years doing this is that some people don't like to stay in their lane . They like to criticise other people's paths.
Great content as always, Sis Boni. You've made me start and finish a Software Engineering Bootcamp, currently busy with the SEO course. I just have to start doing projects based on SWE and SEO ... Do you perhaps have an affiliate program for the "Get into tech" guide?
I love the SEO part with software engineering, you are on the right track. 🙌🙌🙌 about the affiliate program, I didn't think of that because the price is too low . How much commission can you make from it? Won't be worth your time. But I'm glad you are thinking along those lines. It means you are learning 😊. I have made good money from Eugene's course but that's because the price was higher. So it made financial sense.
@liferesetwithboni Thanks a lot for the encouraging words, it means a lot coming from you😀. I now understand the logic behind not having the affiliate program. BTW: You deserve all the commission because we wouldn't know Eugene if you hadn't interviewed him, twice!
I've done one season 1 of tea with the village, I think episode 4, his name is Mnqobi. Someone also did Business Science degree, they work in IT consulting . She's on Season 2, episode 1.
