Here in Bolivia some communities still speak Quechua, and some bits of it have blended in with our day to day Spanish.

As soon as the 2000's hit, if it wasn't a Pixar movie, the odd live action film, and/or a Disney Channel project, it wasn't the biggest hit... besides Lilo and Stitch. This, Treasure Planet, and Atlantis: The Lost Empire are now massive cult hits (Even though the company thought it was gonna be there biggest thing), effortlessly carried by their world and character designs... and memes (This reaction includes most of if, not all of them).
There's a basically 2 sequels: a Kronk spinoff, (because Patrick Warburton is good in everything. Had this, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Family Guy, and Venture Bros), and TV series in 2006, called the Emperor's New School. It wasn't great, but when you had so many Disney, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon shows as kids, you tend to eat it all up lol.

This movie is iconic. It is not a great masterpiece classic or some new crazy art... it is simply just memorable and extremely funny.
Sometimes that is all it takes to make a great movie and I think it can often be forgotten nowadays, because they are all going for that epic movie that will make a billion+.
In a sense, I am happy that it went the way that it did (as in not being popular at first and then becoming a cult classic). It can remain something to keep enjoying because reactors keep discovering it and it is always enjoyable to watch you and others discover this dark horse.

    Boom, baby!
"The Emperor's New Groove" is a rare hilarious Disney movie.
It's very different from any other Disney movie so this movie might also be very watchable to you Disney haters out there. The movie pace is incredibly high and the music by John Debney and Sting are a real surprise. The movie really is a non-stop hilarious comedy with some unique humor. Also the style, both visual and story-wise is different from any other previous Disney movie, which in this case is a positive thing.
The characters are great. Kuzco and Pacha are a perfect team. Yzma is a remarkable villain and her sidekick Kronk is hilarious. Yep, Laughs are guaranteed in this very hip and hilarious movie!
The story really is of no importance and most of it never makes sense but that's also why this movie is both unique and hilarious to watch over and over again.

I think what makes this movie so different than other disney animated films is making a protagonist not just flawed but an actual jerk. Its so rare to actual being rooting against a protagonist that fully deserves their comeuppance. During their adventure you don't feel bad or worried when things go wrong but laugh an enjoy it. Wish they made more movies like this instead every goody, good, good has similar arc of thinking their flawed and finding out they are special in their own way.

One of my favorite movies. The humor, the voice acting, the story and message, all of it was done extremely well. They really don't make 'em like they used to. And Eartha Kitt was AMAZING as Yzma.

While it's not a masterpiece, it is very rewatchable, which is really all you need in a movie. Most of the time, movies don't have to be masterpieces. They just need to be good.

I'm so happy to see Jen wearing a Rammstein shirt. Easily my favorite band, I've seen them 4 times, Madison Square Garden, Tampa, Chicago, and Las Vegas. Each one was amazing.

2024 is the 40 year anniversary of The Last Starfighter (1984); the first characters seen on screen are a very good dog and a tabby orange cat. The original drive in truck stop is still standing on a highway in California. While not a phenomenal film (but totally worth the time) the actors are still active on social media and make public appearances often.

There is a sequel that came out in 2005 "Kronk's New Groove". I feel like it doesn't garner as much of a cult following like this one but it's still a fantastic film and I think you guys would enjoy it

    interesting things,
If I recall this was one of the first animations where they showed the wife was physically pregnant. Also they went back to very simple artistic styles used often in looney toons with the glowing eyes in the dark, and not the whole character just being dulled. Finally if you look at the plant just behind Izma when she throws the potion on it, it becomes a Llama, a forshadowing of what will happen to Kuzco

I watched this movie in my first language, spanish, in it when Kronk wakes Izma up the voice actress improvized saying "I was dreaming with Ricky" instead of "this better be good", meaning Ricky Martin with that name.

I gasped with excitement when I saw the thumbnail! Holden when you said you forgot this was a Disney film, is probably because you have a hankering to watch DreamWorks 'The road to El Dorado' next! (The animation is shockingly similar because of the Mesopotamian imaging.

I love this film! I also love Eartha Kitt. No one else could have played these characters other than the people who were picked! This film deserved higher recognition when it came out. It’s brilliant!

I absolutely Love this movie. I must have watched it 100 times as a kid and still quite it to this day. So underrated and the definitive role for Patrick Warburton for me outside of his recent voice acting in the audiobook for a series called Dungeon Crawler Carl where he voice the main character's Father in the recent book. David Spade and John Goodman obviously also do an amazing job as their respective roles in this and Eartha Kitt as Yzma was just fantastic. Cannot fault at all!
