    Patrick Beverly went on ESPN and trashed Chris Paul. He claimed the “Point God” is not a good defender and is overrated as an All-Time player. This is a look at the Patrick Beverly Chris Paul beef and if Bev is actually right when you look at CP3’s complete playoff history.

    What people don't understand was Pat never said he was better than CP3. He was comparing CP3 to other great pg like Steph and Magic and how he has underperformed. So saying Pat is a bum doesn't really change anything to his arguments. Eg. When Steph has plenty of good games, people will only talk about the bad games, but when it comes to CP3 is quite the opposite.

    • @jeremymartintorres
      @jeremymartintorres 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not really. Bev was obviously correct in saying CP played like trash during the last 5 games against the Mavs. Nothing to argue about that, everyone saw that. I would even agree that he was kind of the weakest link defensively during that series and should have probably played less simply because Luka, who practically was the Mavs whole offense, was way bigger and stronger than him. Virtually everything Bev said aside from those two main points were simply embellishment, exaggeration, and yeah pettiness. Saying that a 37-year old, barely 6-foot player who has had chronic hamstring issues is like a cone on defense after probably his most deflating loss in his career is just disingenuous of Pat. He was making it seem that CP was never good or, at best, only average on defense throughout his career. Fact is, you just simply don't get selected to MULTIPLE all-defensive teams without actually being disruptive defensively for your position. He also implied that CP is only regarded as a great player/HOF because he's played for 17 years. Never mind the total and average stats. The guy practically put the Pelicans and Clippers on the NBA map! He supercharged that Rockets team despite Harden showing clear disinterest whenever he doesn't have the ball. He was mostly responsible in dragging that OKC team to the playoffs when their goal was to be 15th in the West. And he helped prevent Booker from turning into a Kyrie: a high scoring star who never had winning records until a great veteran came in (Lebron for Kyrie).
      Also, people in general indeed mostly talk about the negative things you've done and that's because it garners more buzz and views. Same with basketball. You say they only talk about Steph's bad games. How about CP? The guy carried the Hornets as a rookie, arguably should have been the 2008 MVP, led the Clippers, Rockets (w/ Harden), and the Suns to each franchise's best record ever. But what do people talk about? His meltdown against OKC, blowing a 3-1 lead against the Rockets, blowing five 2-0 playoff leads, and now his worst 5-game stretch. So yeah, always been and always will, people will talk about the negatives more than the positives.

      Doesn't matter, everyone knows Pat Bev is the absolute last dude allowed to talk on CP3. He's been embarrassed by him countless times and anyone who knows the backstory knows Patrick is a jealous, insecure utility player. Still salty they traded him away from his butt buddy Harden for CP3. He legitimately looks like he's gonna cry everytime CP3 is brought up its just sad

    • @ITzKidKoz
      @ITzKidKoz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah its not about him comparing himself. That part never happened its the fact that he went after CP3 for his own personal reasons and just disrespected the work he's put in. There was no insight to what he had to say if you a basketball fan you clearly understood what happened to CP3 and yes he's aging duh. Bev coming at him trying to diminish his career is like what the video says its just petty. But I will add the fact that yeah obviously Pat Bev is nowhere close to being the player CP3 is like I said its not the comparison or lack there of that's the main focus but no one should be defending his words by saying he should be able to say what he wants and not understand that it looks and comes off ridiculous from someone who isn't accomplished themselves. As long as we understand the look of it is hilarious coming from him then defend his freedom of speech and opinion all day.

    Lack of rings will be a part of CP3's legacy. Great PG, just never won a ring. Not making the Finals after last year, especially how PHX got so blown out in game 7, hurts. I'd say the main thing that can help Paul's legacy is if PHX crumbles once he's gone. They were a lottery team without him. Will they go back to missing the playoffs? If so, the effect Paul had will have to be noted.
    As far as Pat Bev, look, the only thing Bev can do really is bark at players. No one's gonna be talking about his game in ten years, or five. If Paul isn't Top 5, he's at least Top 10 all-time PG. Bev ain't even Top 10 at his position among active players.

    Let's be honest if Paul would have went to the Lakers, if the trade wasn't blocked by the league he would most likely have a ring or 2 with Kobe. But he made the Clippers worth watching and that alone should get you in the hall of fame. But look at the Suns before and after he arrives worst to first and how about the OKC year when he packed them into the playoffs. It's hard to argue over a man who can do that with multiple teams. Paul is more old fashioned point gaurd in a league full of score 1st point gaurds but Paul makes everyone better with a pass first style but if he isn't taken seriously by the defense he will shoot and make them pay for not respecting his game. 1st ballot hall of fame without question but I hope he gets a ring before he retires.

      That's a nice argument and I'll certainly take cp3 over Russ and most of the other pgs in the league (with the exception of Curry amd Doncic) but putting him on all time top 5 lists with his resume is a bit too much. He lacks individual awards as well as team success 2 wcf and 1 nba finals in 17 years are huge stains against him. He's a great player but not an all time top 5 in his position, there's levels to this.

I'd take penny Hardaway and d rose. - injury but that hurts their legacy. Nash maybe but no d? He's in the top ten for sure. But hard to keep him in the top 5 imo. Oh D Williams in the short career but better prime. D Lillard too . Tough decision but not top 3 for sure.

    • @antemercep8844

      I agree with you, not top 5 but close imo. I won't count Steph and Lillard cause don't see them really as pg's, technically they are but they are more of a shooters. I kind of have idea of pure pgs and than those that were pg's and scorers and than almost pure scorers. Hope you get what I mean.
      But like you said Magic, Stockton, Isaiah, Payton, Kidd and than I would say Oscar but its hard to really judge him since I never saw him play and than CP3. Imo he is better than Hardaway and D Rose (sadly injuries) and better than Nash and Lillard. Only Steph is better but like I said I don't really see him as true pg.
