I bought a 16 pro max coming from a 8 plus because I couldn’t stand the notch/ island. I was waiting for a hole punch but I won’t wait any longer. I am soo happy with this phone! It’s truly amazing and I’m excited for the 17 pro max hoping for a hole punch or a smaller island
Its similar to how i upgraded my 6s to 14PM after half a decade as felt something lacking with iPhone x and the ones that followed so i was hesitant until 14PM where notch disappeared and wont change my phone until apple brings out under screen camera with notch less design without anycutouts
The Camera Control button is, in my opinion, the worst feature this year. It is terribly fiddly and awkward to use. It seems totally superfluous and unnecessary. And the biggest downside? It actually *slows* down your picture-taking task! It's much faster just to use the on-screen controls. This button was ill-conceived. Instead of *removing* buttons from the iPhone, Apple decided to *add* new buttons such as the Action button and the Camera Control button. Steve Jobs must be spinning in his grave like a lathe. I sincerely hope they remove this feature in the next iteration of the iPhone (17 or 18) after users express their displeasure.
Hi there - I agree that as it stands it is way slower to use. I hope Apple listens to the criticism and double-downs on it to improve it and learn say from the Sony Experia
It sounds like the camera control button needs another 20 minutes at gas mark 6.. I’m on a 15 Pro Max and am struggling to justify the upgrade this year..
You struggling to justify upgrading because phones have gotten so good and were so used to them that “big” upgrades are few and far between at this point brother. Those massive leaps in the early days are over sadly
@@sevecc thank you so much - that is exactly the tone I’m going after. There is too much noise and shouting on TH-cam. It’s time for the facts to come first! Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻
I upgraded from the 14 Pro Max in Deep Purple and just unboxed the Natural Titanium 16 Pro Max on my channel-definitely one of the best colors I’ve seen! The 6.9" display, no bezels, 48-megapixel fisheye camera, and larger battery make it totally worth the upgrade!
I'm over the moon you've had a great experience! Since I mentioned the Magnifier app a few weeks back so many folks have commented on it - a hidden gem huh! Enjoy that vape! 💨
I went for a screen protector this time round after the amount of micro scratches my 14 Pro Max had accumulated over the 2 years I had it. First thing I did after peeling the factory sticker off. Screen protectors really are worth it.
That is a smart move - I know I should or could, but for some reason, I just love the feel of a totally naked screen. The scratch I showed was very minor though. I hope you are enjoying your phone as much as I am 👌🏻
Without a single doubt. Just the weight, design and feel alone makes it worth while. Add in the Macro photography, 4K/120 video, the pause button….you have made a GREAT decision!
@@DavidLewisTech sure!, what I’m overthinking is that what if the other year iPhone It’s more worth it than this year. Because I upgrade every two years
Dave, I fully agree with your comments on Apple buyers versus Samsung buyers. We, Apple fans, always seem to dunk on the brand. Another thing I don't like is that we always hear things like "Steve wouldn't agree". That's so dumb. The man passed away 13 years ago, can we just move on now? It's like wondering if Henry Ford would agree with today's Ford brand. 😅
Hi there Thomas - I agree. Steve was great and set the tone, but the mantle has been passed on. Also, it’s not as if one man makes these decisions is it! Apple is a massive company and employ teams of the best brains about! And yes, let’s for once just be proud of what we buy, have and get to use. The iPhone is a pretty special bit of kit!
@@DavidLewisTechto be fair, it’s Steve’s approach - especially the simplification of Apples product line and the emphasis on two discrete sets of products - budget and pro that he pioneered. While we still get that, there are some notable exceptions. Vision Pro? I think Jobs would have not released this product alone. There would have been a cut down version at launch as well. He was always conscious of looking after developers. The other area is audio products. It’s a hot mess of rubbish speakers and a confused line of headphones blurred by Beats. So not about the person himself but the approach that turned an almost Done company that could have become part of Dell into the Apple we have today.
@@mrkring1526 nah, guessing what that marketing approach would do. We know that Steve Jobs is dead but he pioneered a strategy. We learn from the past to create a better future.
The main reason to go through Apple garden, is software consistency, the simplicity and yet so complex to make it simple. Other brands think putting more fluffy features is a go-go key, but for simple life, simple things work better. I don’t even care about bloody customization that android offers. Don’t have patience for that (and I was a customized windows pc guy builder machine and custumizon graphic bios, board bios, using unsupported cpus for certain motherboards). I want peace now😂, so Apple offers a simple solution.
In every device I own (PC, tablet, smartphone), I do very, very minimal customization. Usually, a wallpaper or theme is all I do. This obsession with customization strikes me as very narcissistic.
I ordered and cancelled the iPhone 16 to replace my 15 as I just can’t see any meaningful upgrades that I would use. Another fine vid Mr L. Thank you 👏🙏
@@DavidLewisTech I am, I was tempted but I didn’t even get to the Apple Store at Bluewater such was the lack of additional features. As I said previously I really can’t see any reason (I almost weakened due to the call of the shiny new iPhone admittedly). Besides, if I do need any of the bells and whistles I have my M4 iPad Pro 👍🏻
Great balanced perspective thanks David. I have been using the 16 Promax since release date and it is pretty well the same as the 14 Promax I moved from. I find the new camera button annoying as there is a cutout on the case where I am used to holding it. My main reason for the buy was the promised Ai features coming so I have gone on faith and have my fingers crossed it will be worthwhile. Battery life is noticeably better.
Hey - thanks for watching and commenting. The battery life is improved as are the some of the camera features. The shutter is quicker for sure and the pause feature for video will be super handy as well
I loved your review! It’s hard for me to fully understand why people (iPhone users themselves) criticize iPhones so much. They revolutionized the market in 2007 and have maintained consistency while making notable improvements. The iPhone’s simplicity and ease of use are its strengths just like what made the iMac so great. Its design hasn’t changed much but some of us out there do honestly kind of appreciate that. Under the hood though, it’s drastically improved and changed quite a bit, performing trillions of operations per second... yes trillions that can all fit in our pockets. Once Apple Intelligence is released and developers can get a firmer hold of it, it will be a game changer, unlocking the iPhone’s full potential I think. Sure there are a lot of modern and sleek looking foldable phones out there these days and I don't deny those are great options too. However a number of them offer clunky software, too much customization to become overwhelming and have had issues with the screen deteriorating after so many bends and drops. I think that is why Apple has not made that leap just yet. With all that being said I think one thing I would have changed to the modern iPhone is bring touch ID back and apply it to the action button haha. I often have trouble with Face ID in the dark and obviously not being able to look at it head on all of the time.
Hi there Tom - great read...thank you! Now, touch ID on the Action Button there is a great idea! There is not much I can argue with what you've written. I have nothing at all against The Pixels or Samsung, but the iPhone suits my needs better. It's outer design hasn't changed much because it's been refined and works. I've said it before, but I honestly reckon Apple will nail AI and the wait will be worth it!
I’ve had my 16 Pro Max for almost a week and here are my thoughts I think Battery Life is noticeably improved as I upgraded from the 14 Pro Max which had probably the worst Battery Life for a long time for an iPhone. I think the picture quality has noticeably improved and everything seems much sharper. I also tested out the audio mix feature which was really good. I think I only tested out the studio one and I think it does make a difference but I think you’re right regarding the actual quality. I mean it’s good enough what it does and I was initially impressed, but it’s a shame that it could only be used natively within the Camera app and not with third-party apps ask for camera control I’m a little bit mixed. I think while it’s cool, I think it’s what’s the term, looking for a solution to a problem that doesn’t need to be solved. I mean it’s crazy that you could have up to 5 ways to get into the camera from the lock screen. You could set the action button to access to camera you could get into the camera from your control centre as well I think it’s actually crazy as someone who’s visit impaired I do use the magnifier which I find is very helpful and I’m so glad it’s built in to the camera app. I’m not gonna lie I was beginning to feel that iOS was beginning to get stale until iOS 18 which has reinvigorated the platform yes it’s not perfect though I think the file system has definitely gotten worse at least iPadOS which completely wiped my folder that I had for video game rooms as I’ve been tried that new game emulator on my iPad and while it hasn’t affected the app too much I’m annoyed that it wiped my folder that I had pacifically created for the ROMs I have downloaded but then I’m kind of going off topic with iPadOS so back on topic overall I’m happy with my 16 Pro Max, particularly with the Battery Life and the camera and I’m happy that there are still more to come with Apple Intelligence but it is a bit of a disappointment that it wasn’t launched with the iPhone 16 series. I personally like the desert titanium colour which is what I’ve got, and it reminds me of The gold with the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Anyway, great video as always, David.
Hi Adam - overall, I’d say that iOS 18 has possibly saved the day for the 16 this year. The battery on the phone is better but I also think the OS is better optimised as well. Today I have now changed my Action Button to open Focus Modes as I use that all the time. I have one set for Filming so it cuts all distraction out…sounds as if you’ve had real issues on the iPad then?
I upgraded from an iPhone 12 Mini and it was a no brainer to upgrade. This is a great phone that's changed what I can do. The photos alone jump out as so much better. My wife has an iPhone 13 Pro, and the point of the balance / feel of the phone in the hand of the 16 Pro being better is well made. I didn't like the outer weight of her 13 Pro, whereas the 16 Pro is great. Regarding your question, why are Apple users so demanding and pick holes rather than advocate, I think it's because we expect more from Apple. Apple is well thought through simplicity. When Apple starts to throw in the kitchen sink like Samsung has been doing for a while, we start asking why. The recent jumble of apps on your screens is a question or, why do we need this? While I notice Samsung usually throw in everything, chases the spec, then usually ends up copying the design and best function upgrades from iPhone.
I actually ordered and cancelled a iPhone 16 Pro because at this point you're buying incremental upgrades and it feels like Apple is nickel-and-diming their customers. Everything announced at the iPhone event could have been done through a press release. The iPhone is so mature there really isn't much Apple can offer to their customers. At this point I am waiting for a foldable iPhone and that's the only way I'll be excited to buy another iPhone.
I would disagree about Apple not being able to offer more. They could have made their $800 phone with 120 hz display, under display finger reader, fingerprint reading their power button, a 1st generation under display Face ID camera, faster wired charger, etc. to say that Apple cannot offer much more is just a cope out for people naive enough to drink the kool aid.
I couldn’t disagree more yes the upgrades are incremental but in all honesty there are some noticeable improvements at least in the 16 Pro Max such as longer battery life, and I upgraded from a 14 Pro Max which the upgrades are noticeable enough I’m getting USB C, As well as Apple intelligence and the cameras are a lot better too, which was one of the areas which I wasn’t completely happy with on my 14 Pro Max, I think if you want to foldable I think you’re better off going to Samsung which sounds like it might be an option for you. I just don’t think foldable are quite there yet particularly for the price and they’re still very fragile.
@@Adamtendo_player_1what are you even talking about? Apple intelligence hasn’t even been released yet and guess how long android has had things like usb c…..holy fuck you really are an Apple sheep lol
@@dell1032 Apple should take notice of comments like these. You are a loyal customer whose voice should be heard. There are a number of small changes that I like, but I think the days of massive annual upgrades are a thing of the past…sadly!
I’m an iPhone user since day one and I’ve upgraded every year to the newest model, I am currently using my 15 Pro and I have no plans on getting the 16. This will be the first year I will not be upgraded to a new iPhone. The reason I’m not going to upgrade is because of that stupid camera button , it is nothing but a gimmick and makes taking photographs and videos unnecessarily difficult. I’m already sick of the gimmicky Dynamic Eyesore and now Apple has to add a gimmicky button as well. If anything, the new iPhone 16 is making me seriously think about getting the upcoming Samsung galaxy S25 Ultra.
Wow - you must hate the new design a lot to think of making the switch away from iPhone after all those years. I just wished Apple would read these comments...
@@DavidLewisTech it’s not just the new design of the 16 that’s making me think of switching to Samsung. It’s also all the other things Apple has been very slow to adopt for years, USBC, Dark Mode, RCS messaging, Always On Display, 60hz on the non-pro models, not doing a punch hole design and keeping the useless Dynamic Eyesore along with a list of other things that Apple has not implemented.
The camera control button drove me crazy. It is way too touchy. It causes me to miss shots. You can go into settings-accessiblity- camera control and make additional changes. I turned off swipe and light press “features” of camera control. They are terribly integrated. If I’ve had too much caffeine, trying to finger that button gently isn’t happening. Thanks for the video David.
Hi there - I think the premise and concept is right, just not the execution at this point. But, it took me a few years to gain the benefit of Dynamic Island. I think this button will eventually be useful…
Are you certain that macro shot in 11:12 and 11:20 are not labelled the opposite way. To my eyes, 14 pro labelled photos are the better quality, so I suspect they were shot by 16 pro and vice versa. Can you check them?
Hi there - interesting. I watched it back on my M4 iPad Pro and I can see what you mean...I guess the compression must have played some tricks. I checked the FCP project and they are labelled correctly - thanks for spotting that though 👍🏻
Thanks Brad - that sub means more than you can know. I just want to make content a bit different from all that loud, shouting content that’s out there. There is space for rational conversation too right. Thanks for that sub and for taking the time to get involved
out of all the videos i've been glossing thru - FINALLY a good video review. i didn't want to speak negatively of the other bland tech review videos on youtube.

Like you, I had become bored of many of the channels either shouting out me, music beds that were too loud or just negative & clickbait'y. I'm just trying hard to make this channel and the community that little bit different! Thanks for both watching and commenting.
Great review and thoughts mate. I really enjoyed this over many other reviews which all tend to say the same things. You hit the nail on the head with the Camera Control being an over-engineered solution to a non-existent problem. In that sense it's maybe the most un-Apple like feature we've possibly ever seen on iPhone hardware- a company who is usually very good at creating purposeful harmony between aesthetics, hardware and software. The fact that it's baked into the device with a physical capacitive button (with implications on aesthetics, accessories, repairability and so on) is what has put me off buying this phone as I genuinely wonder at what you said: did they just cram it in there for this device because they had nothing better to show off this year? I'll wait to see if they decide to commit to this with next year's devices. It's a rare case for Apple where they've succeeded at neither form nor function with a new hardware "feature," and that in particular does deserve the criticism in my opinion.
Hi there - it's great to hear from you...thank you! I'm over the moon you enjoyed the review too. I don't want to dunk hard on Apple as at least they showed they were trying to be innovative. They know the cameras are their USP so decided to build on it. I hope it's not a one-year wonder but rather the start of something meaningful. As far as I'm concerned, it's unfinished business. I hope they listen to feedback and iterate on it Nat! 🤞🏻
@@DavidLewisTech man I would be stoked if they could find a way to make it truly useful! I'm a big fan of Apple and want them to keep cooking in the post-Ive design era (who I remain a huge fan of but he too made some odd hardware choices), but this is the first time in a while I've been genuinely baffled by the execution of a new hardware decision. We will see!
Yeah - like you, I love some (most) of their design initiatives and hardware, but when they do drop a ball...I'm getting the iPad mini tomorrow - let's see what that's like
Got my 16 Pro Max today, in Natural Titanium. I'm happy with it overall, regarding the camera control, I think mine has an issue wherein when I select the camera option, it doesn't give the option to select video or camera option. It just defaults to whatever camera I was previously using, and I can only switch by tapping on the screen. I really can't see myself using it much to be honest.

As a long time android user who also used an iphone (my wife has a 13 pro max and will upgrade to the 16 pro max), having used it a ton, I think the brand discussions you are refering to are starting to develop strongly against Apple. The iPhone (a phone with honestly by far the worst OS I have ever used, just my opinion) isn't focusing on innovating things like it used to but at the same time Apple is slowly increasing the price. Before there were solutions to real problems, like touch ID for security, then face ID for more screen real estate, dual or triple cameras, improved displays and vibration motors for the best haptic feedback, etc. Now the only focus is on that crap AI which i don't see anyone ever actually using and making it appear as an innovative upgrade, even though it is mainly a software update (I know the processor was built for intensive AI tasks, but still). It is a period of stale releases with the exact same design, boring colors, outrageous prices and that magic that Apple once had that carried every announcement is now a hollow place. Now they create solutions for problems that never existed, like the camera button. The difference to other brands is that for example Samsung brings a ton of new AI features like circle to search, real time translation, page sumerize, photo generation, sketch generation, photo editing features, etc. to their previous models as well. People also feel more freedom with other brands because they don't have to be boxed in like with Apple and as such no discussion will arise. Everyone is more chilled and judges the products based solely on that product. If I want to share a file from my Fold 5, I do not require another Samsung, i can share it to anyone fast. I have DEX which is a game changer (didn't use any laptop for the last year since my Tab s9 Ultra) and if i don't like the phone anymore i can always get another from other brands and not even feel a difference. With Apple it's a bit more complicated. You get pretty much the same hardware every year with no price reduction, you get locked into their OS and will find it difficult to do stuff a lot of the time because of that (and also need to buy their other products for the best experience), you see other manufacturers with awesome innovative hardware/software, sometimes even for a lower price, people slowly start to get back at Apple because they also want those awesome features, why can other people have that but they, who payed so much money for their product don't see much of a difference year to year.
And this is why I love making videos like this, because it opens up the floor for discussion and debate! You’ve raised some really interesting points - thanks you. Samsung users do seem to have such an affinity with their Ultras - I almost envy it. That said, I am genuinely happy with what Apple has on offer for me at the moment…
When it comes to charging with a cable a lot of reviews keep mentioning it does 45 watts…..BUT I have tested with 7 different quality chargers. Four of them are USB-C PD/PPS 100 watt chargers and the most I can get for a consultant charge is 30 watts, same as the iPad Pros mostly.
@@DavidLewisTech It’s a matter of perception. They might charge at the same speed but the IPad Pros battery is much larger so it takes longer. The first 50% charging of a lithium based battery is always the fastest based on the charging algorithm. The amount of power decreases after 50% more and more at it get closer to full. This is why I always test the charging power claims only if the devices battery is below 30% to see the amount of power it charges with. When I test capacity I do a full discharge followed by a full charge, and one more discharge.
I hope we get it Susan - it would just make so much sense! I mean we both know Apple would bring out a new pencil to get more sales, but I’d have it in a flash…
Tim Cook out if iphone 17 looks the same as well !!!! We need phones with no pill cutouts , stacked battery tech with at least more than a day of battery life,48MP on all 3 lenses , micro led display and then thinner iPhone like X and 11 or may be a different segment like air with less camera features but with 120hz display and scarp that plus or mini models !!!!
Your b roll with wifi shows the the 16 Pro being slightly slower. Can you get a faster broadband package and test again? If you get a gig down, that’s where you’ll notice a difference 6:50
I've never had an iphone screen scratch and I've been using them basically since the 3gs. I also don't use screen protectors or a case. I wonder if the people who get scratches ever place their phones screen side down. And I know a big one that kills my friends is they put their keys in the same pocket as their phone. Or they set things on top of them. I knew one guy who'd put his aluminum cans on his phone and put a nice arc in it. What a goober. Used it as a coaster. But my phones basically live in 3 places. My pocket, My hand, or on my magsafe charger stand. So they don't get a lot of opportunity to get marked up.
Damn - someone used his phone as a coaster!! What the hell? I do place it screen down but only on soft surfaces and I never have anything in my pocket with it. I also only charge on a wireless charger too! Great to hear from you...
@@nauscakes1868 Lucky you! Maybe you don’t notice micro scratches. I’ve always been very cautious with my iPhone, I take care of it almost too much, but the scratches still show up. 🤕

My phone (16 PRO) still ridiculously charges with cable at 20w max. They're (as usual) pushing users towards wireless charging, i doubt the cable power will ever increase. I tried with 3 different chargers, original cable and three more, all maxed out at 20w. My ROG AllyX charges at 94-95w and laptop at ~80w with them, so they're working properly.
🤚5️⃣ buttons on iPhone 16 is just way too many I feel. It could have easily been an adjustment of features to the existing camera app itself instead. Color is not bad, but it does look washed out/pale😒
@@DavidLewisTech ….I hear you David and I agree 😝 You know, I wish Apple would consider an iPhone with a pencil, similar concept to what Samsung offers. But one can dream right. Keep up the great work.
Let's keep banging the drum and see if we can't get a pencil for the iPhone!! I mean we just know it would have to be another 'new' pencil don't we so they would rake in all that new revenue...
I agree that the photos do look a little washed out. However, tweaking the tone (to -0.5/1) fixes the issue, generally. It adds a lot more depth to the photo. My only issue is that I can’t get the phone to remember that preference - so I’m having to tweak it each and every time.
I've noticed something similar with the gorilla glass on some android phones I have. It seems that Gorilla glass 3 is more scratch resistant than Gorilla glass Victus even though Victus is definitely more shatter resistant.

I was initial user of iphones and ipads, but Apple truly lost me for ever with their planed obsolescence scam (slowing down their devices or disabling functionality after ios updates), which is still going on. I will give you a very recent example. I am teaching elderly and older (read pensioners) people smartphone, tablet and computer skills. One of them came to me recently, with older version of ipad but still perfectly well functioning, asking why they are not able any more to go to the website of their pharmacy to order a medication they had used to do. And guess what, certain websites were restricted because Apple decided to disable web browsers for certain functional purposes. Of course, Apple wants you to stop using old ipads and go and buy new one. I have a person here, a pensioner, that only knows how to use ipad, but does not have means to buy another device as Apple blocked functionality features on their older device. What a garbage company.
Is camera control button what makes apple claim to say iPhone 16 is built ground up for apple intelligence? It's a simple marketing tactic with a gimmick button
There are not many companies that I would buy on the hope they will deliver. I am certain Apple will come through, but to say it was built from the ground up is a little far fetched…I totally agree
Likely to wait… Why? Ive got AI on my 15Max and it is early days, would rather wait till its officially released, and if some of the features aren’t released till summer time then I may wait till next September. Also if Mini7 is out next month with the A18 chip…..
My take on why Apple users are hard on their products. They’re not! Most Apple users just get in with it. It is just the fringe tech dwellers who like tech and often browse the other competitors who see the latest and greatest and then criticise Apple for this and that. Reality is that every year the iPhone gets better. Most users upgrade every 2 to 5 years. Those who complain and give iPhone a hard time sit on the fringe and upgrade yearly. This is of course perpetuated by TH-camrs and tech journalists like the super critical Verge chap who has a masterful way of making it seem like tech and particularly Apple tech has lost its way. Most Apple users and we are talking about a very large percentage here don’t have an issue. They love their devices. The second reason is the Apple Sheep label that the trolls roll out. Identity crisis is big with those Apple users who use Apple gear. We love the look of that Garmin Watch and the Pixel and when we get thrown the sheep comment we get all defensive and hypercritical of Apple to try and prove we are lovers of all tech. Most of us are and shouldn’t rise to the sociopathic inadequacies of trolls.
Hi Neil - during the summer I was on the train and looking around nobody was using an iPhone that was newer than a 12. It resonated with me that day, as you correctly pointed out that real folks going about their business don't swap to the latest and newest. They generally use their devices hard, for normal tasks and only renew when their contract is up. And then, when they do change after 2, 3 or 4 years - BOY do they notice the difference! @@DavidLewisTech yeah. That might not be until around the 20. If the 17 had a hole punch I would buy it as well
The Camera Control button is, in my opinion, the worst feature this year.
@@DavidLewisTech Apply may or may not improve it, BUT it remains a superfluous and unnecessary button.

It sounds like the camera control button needs another 20 minutes at gas mark 6.. I’m on a 15 Pro Max and am struggling to justify the upgrade this year..
More like it needs to be turned off in settings. Your welcome
You struggling to justify upgrading because phones have gotten so good and were so used to them that “big” upgrades are few and far between at this point brother. Those massive leaps in the early days are over sadly
Ai is the wildcard here. We do not know how useful it will be and that will potentially be the big leap.
So just don’t upgrade. No real sense in upgrading from a 15PM to a 16.

Hi there - when I looked at my purple 14 Pro making this video, I’d forgotten just how lovely it was…good luck with your channel fella!

I’m upgrading from the 14 pro to the 16 pro max because I want bigger battery and screen size do you think I made the right decision?
Without a single doubt. Just the weight, design and feel alone makes it worth while. Add in the Macro photography, 4K/120 video, the pause button….you have made a GREAT decision!

I agree about how you felt switching to your new phone. I almost feel like I’m ’moving into’ a new device sometimes
yeah - I mean it's always an enjoyable experience, but it's still a chore if that makes any sense!
@@NeilLavittagain, guessing what someone would do who died 13 years ago.
@@mrkring1526 nah, guessing what that marketing approach would do. We know that Steve Jobs is dead but he pioneered a strategy. We learn from the past to create a better future.
The Beats lineup confuses me also...
Thank you 👏🙏
@@stuartconlon7492 hi Stuart - great to hear from you again. So you are sticking with the 15 this year then?
Karl - what a great phrase - ‘well thought through simplicity’! I love that - it sums up Apple perfectly

The punch hole is a fairly regular complaint...

I really can't see myself using it much to be honest.

iPhone 16 pro max starting in a couple weeks intelligence is the best phone out
I am really enjoying using it - I have more thoughts on it for a video later this week. Apple Intelligence will be the icing on the cake
I sure find the iPad chargers pretty slowly
@@DavidLewisTech It’s a matter of perception. They might charge at the same speed but the IPad Pros battery is much larger so it takes longer. The first 50% charging of a lithium based battery is always the fastest based on the charging algorithm. The amount of power decreases after 50% more and more at it get closer to full. This is why I always test the charging power claims only if the devices battery is below 30% to see the amount of power it charges with. When I test capacity I do a full discharge followed by a full charge, and one more discharge.
oooh! A good tip!
Yes! Good point about Apple Pencil!
I hope we get it Susan - it would just make so much sense! I mean we both know Apple would bring out a new pencil to get more sales, but I’d have it in a flash…

We need phones with no pill cutouts , stacked battery tech with at least more than a day of battery life,48MP on all 3 lenses , micro led display and then thinner iPhone like X and 11 or may be a different segment like air with less camera features but with 120hz display and scarp that plus or mini models !!!!
WOW!! That phone you've just described would have them queueing around the block!

I tried with 3 different chargers, original cable and three more, all maxed out at 20w. My ROG AllyX charges at 94-95w and laptop at ~80w with them, so they're working properly.
Yeah I think you are right. Last year I switched to only charging via MagSafe...
🤚5️⃣ buttons on iPhone 16 is just way too many I feel. It could have easily been an adjustment of features to the existing camera app itself instead. Color is not bad, but it does look washed out/pale😒

Hi John - so it’s not me being daft then, the Apple Pencil could technically work on the iPhone then, right?
@DavidLewisTech Your Probably right but they seem so large, I have a tab s7 that pen won't work samsung gets the award for pens.
I was just talking about the new Tab S10 that came out today on the podcast - that'll be out tomorrow 👌🏻
I tried switching to android, but before android lets you set/revoke app permissions en masse, it's a pass for me. It's like google/samsung went out of their way to make your life miserable.
I know all these companies have my data, but at least let me make it difficult for third party apps without having to go through them one by one.
Also, "soccer team"? come on sir :)
Apologies for that slip is standards! If anyone is proud of my British ways, trust me it is! I will write my 100 lines now and ask for one more chance! 😁
Good points you make about permissions…
The way I see it, Apple are slower than Android at all these new features, mostly gimmicks, but, and it's a biggie! Apple refine those features to make it something useable and enjoyable. It makes that "slowness" worth it. Which is why I'm finally going all in with Apple. Great video btw! I'm watching all of them building up the excitement for my 16pm arriving 😂
Hi there - great to hear from you and I'm glad you are enjoying the content too! Thank you 🙏🏻.
We are in complete agreement over Apple's strategy - less is more in this instance!
I don't know when your phone is due, but I am hoping to get another video out tomorrow with some more thoughts - deep in the edit right now...
I'm not sure yet when it'll arrive, it still says" on back order" but the excitement is real! I went for the White, I love that clean finish and it'll match the airpod pro 2's that come with it.
I'll be sure to tune in and watch the new video when it's out. @@DavidLewisTech
Nice one Conal - be sure to let me know how you are getting on with it when it arrives. I know you'll be over the moon with it. Mine is flying...
The video is all done - last bits to do today and it will be up later 🤛🏻
@@DavidLewisTech Excellent, I'll keep you in the loop for sure 👍🏼 and I look forward to viewing the new video later
You should add the camera to the control center also 😂
Ha!! Why not? In for a penny in for a pound! 😏
That kind of story certainly doesn’t shower them with praise, does it
Is camera control button what makes apple claim to say iPhone 16 is built ground up for apple intelligence? It's a simple marketing tactic with a gimmick button
There are not many companies that I would buy on the hope they will deliver. I am certain Apple will come through, but to say it was built from the ground up is a little far fetched…I totally agree
Likely to wait… Why? Ive got AI on my 15Max and it is early days, would rather wait till its officially released, and if some of the features aren’t released till summer time then I may wait till next September. Also if Mini7 is out next month with the A18 chip…..
People are more interested in the colors than the new ‘button.’
Well, I hope they are not holding their breath on the Desert Titanium is all I can say 😳
Thanks as always for commenting 🙏🏻
This is how you solve a problem which did not exist.
Yup - and not only that, make it worse and more fiddly!
You could’ve avoided that micro scratch if you used a screen protector 4:21
Yup - I know, but I happen to prefer the feel of the screen without one. Also, the Pixel didn’t get scratched…
@@DavidLewisTech fair enough. I just hate micro scratches lol
me too - but I do love the feel of the screen, so I guess I'll have to live with them...
@@DavidLewisTech yeah, that’s one unfortunate side affect. I swear by them and won’t use an iPhone with them, because in 2017 I dropped my 7 Plus and cracked the protector but the screen under it was fine (I had thick gloves on). Would’ve cost a lot more to replace an entire screen vs just the protector
Facts I put one soon as it comes out the box.
I’m not going to buy an iPhone until Apple includes R-2D2 or C-3PO technology.
I guess you don’t like this phone.
This channel is bland and boring.
Like your
iPhone 16ProMax.
I love mine
Bland and boring huh! Oh well, can’t win them all.
I actually stressed how happy I was with the phone - hey ho!
Nice balanced viewpoint video David
@@Duncan_Rennie Thanks Duncan - I’m just trying to do things a little differently on the channel. I’m bored with all the hype and running other phones down…there’s space for us all right? Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 🙏🏼
