- First ride on the rebuilt Royal Enfield Classic 350 Reborn. Taking a ride along the 'Top Gear' filming road (Black Mountain Pass) to try the bike and see if it all works. This is the A4069 south from Llangadog. A visit to the Owl's Nest Diner too.

Good Man Glyn!! Great video and wonderful to see you (finally) out on that rusty classic. Don't ever feel that you need to apologize for using your own language, as a Scot, we are no stranger to that sort of thing. Produce your videos at a rate that suites you and whatever life throws at you. Above all else, while, the weather is working with us, get out and ride. It blows away the cobwebs and just makes you feel better.
ahh thanks very much 👍 hope you're getting some good weather up there too. The little Classic is so jump-on-able without feeling you have to do all the prep of 'going out on the bike'. Autumn will be here soon enough eh

@10:24 right where the sheep was in the road is where I crashed my 250 back in 1987.
I've ridden it many times since but still always slow right down on that bit.
Nice to see that everything on the bike worked ok.
oh no, was there even a guard rail then? It's quite a drop over there. Luckily Rusty is not going very fast really, those sheep seem well trained too luckily👍
@@GlynOC you're correct there was no guard rail in them days but luckily it was just a bit of a slide along the road rather than hitting anything or going over the edge. My own fault, looking at the view rather than the road ahead.
Bike looks and sounds amazing, the Black Mountain Pass the perfect road to show it off!
It was surprisingly empty, or perhaps I just couldn't catch up to the other bikes🤪

Next? A bit further north - Abergwesyn to Tregaron via the Devil's Staircase, and the road past Llyn Brianne, ending at the West End Café in Llandovery. 👍
Thanks for the recommendations, it's great up there. It's all a little bit too industrialised and straightened out below Merthyr, though I do love a bit of filtering in the jams👍

Great to see the bike finally out on the road Glyn, all credit to your engineering and build skills, no breakdowns or things going wrong, excellent! That road is going on the 'to do list' and I'll be doing it shortly with my local Enfield group.
Probably a little early to ask but the 64,000 dollar question is, which do you prefer as a ride, the Classic or the Meteor.🤔🙂👍
Thanks Jonathan, I did kind of forget it was all new and then I was 50 miles away and thought 'I hope it doesn't break down now!!' but all was fine and it got better and better, especially the tyres, which are probably a bit 'rounder' edged and not so square so handled better then. The two bikes are similar but different, impossible to choose, like guitars!
Rusty Bertie is looking and sounding great! At last, great to have some decent summer weather. Looking forward to riding on the A4069 Black Mountain Pass on my Royal Enfield Bullet Trials 500. We’re spoilt in Wales for having such wonderful biking roads!

I'm glad " WOTSIT" turned out alright.
That's what my 12 year old son named it😊 I like it all apart from the crash bars and rack. Maybe a little too much orange for me, but the wheels and tyres look brilliant.🎉

Well Glyn, what a great bike, very individual, love that and don’t apologise about anything to do with bike, I could say not my colour but it’s not my bike, I like shiny, but what a cracking bike again, I have a hunter, love it to bits every conceivable accessory, love it my bike, what great roads I am gob smacked, I live on the southern edge of the Lake District so get out when I can and these little bikes love these roads, thanks for doing it and taking us on the journey with you of reconstruction cheers

Lovely ride, local to me too as I am from Clydach Vale (the tump) and haven't strayed too far.
Surely though, after that overtake, you should have said "Nice one Butty" 😂😂😂.
The Rustypaint finish is amazing, not sure if the complete paint job is for me but as long as you are pleased with it, then that's what it's all about.
I like the exhaust sound too, I have removed the cat on mine and kept the original silencer - I think yours is a bit more beefy but difficult to tell listening on my phone!

RB is sounding fantastic. I think the camera angle was great. ( looked faster,at this angle😂)
That taller tyres seemed to hold the road well. And the grunt from the camshaft, just pulling RB along.

Be good to hear your thoughts on the camshaft, compared to the Meteor.
I gave a Guy a wee run on Bumble yesterday at the Backwater Reservoir. He said it gets much more pull this his standard Meteor.

Thanks Mark, yes it looks faster when it's almost dragging on the ground! I'm pleased it was still there, I see it had a close call with the thistles when overtaking those cars 🤪 It's def peppier than the Meteor but that has those big knobbly tyres which probably hold it back a bit, like a mountain bike is harder to ride fast than a normal bicycle. They feel related but different bikes 👍 I bet your new tyres are smooth as butter

Cool! Looks and sounds fantastic. How does in compare to the Meteor then?
It's hard to tell! They're obviously similar, yet different, the Classic steers quicker and goes a bit quicker with its cam 'n all. The Meteor just feels snoozier, but in a nice way🤪
Go Rusty, Go, beautifull bike on beautifull roads. How do you like the performance camshaft Glyn? I noticed that no one is greeting another biker, in Holland we always do, or am i wrong?

Thanks very much for your comments as always 👍 It's peppier than the Meteor but it doesn't need to be, it would be a happy bike without it and I never tried it before to really know! Yes, we greet each other with a subtle head nod usually, it being unwise to take your hands off the bars with so many sheep around! 🐑

How are you liking the riding position compared to the Meteor? Seems like you was really enjoying it. What about the exhaust? You seemed to think it was pretty loud when you first started it up - it sounds great in the video.

It's like your way but lumpier, that's all 👍 If you look at the vid you'll see I've put the standard exhaust back on before going out so it's the same as yours basically, I could tell I wasn't going to enjoy the slappy blatty sound of the other silencer. I want to enjoy plodding along and as you say, they're pretty loud as it is! I would pick up a mangled Hunter if I saw one but I've got something pretty evil in mind.... I'll have to save that for winter time 👍 cheers, Glyn

I didn’t spot the standard exhaust. I’m blaming that on my lack of sleep due to the heatwave 😉 The standard pipes do sound great though don’t they.

Hello! They are Shinko E270 and come in black, whitewall or thin line double white wall. They also do an E240 which is similar but not quite as tall in profile 👍

Great video, love the sound but is it just me being a fool because you don't seem to be moving your hand on the throttle. Sounds don't match the action?
There may have been some slight technical issues with the sound sync, I hope it didn't mar your enjoyment too much 👍

I have done all that and worse but it was a CE armoured jacket, kevlar jeans and reinforced ankle boots. I"ve got my eye on some of the reinforced hoodies too. I must get 5/10 at least! 🤪Thanks for watching, Glyn

I have a question though, the sound for the first minutes don't seem to match with what you're doing on the bike. At some point you can even hear a gear change while your left arm is off the steering 😕
Don't take it the wrong way, I don't mean any disrespect mate. I just thought it's kinda strange. Of course I might be mistaken
