Thanks! I did enjoy doing that, though it was a bit stressful not knowing how it would turn out, turns out it didn't matter that much once it all got activated anyway! Thanks for watching
Amazing Glyn, I have watched this whole build and even though I own a Classic 350 in the dark green for the last 2 years, this looks like it will end up looking superb. I will be sad when this project is finished 😊
Thanks for your comment, I hope it looks good too, am looking forward to getting out on it. Don't worry, there'll always be something new to get messed about with 👍
Looking outstanding, Glyn. The distressed rust effect will look even better when assembled onto the shiny components. What a revelation that will be! Can’t wait to see the final brutalist work of art.
Thanks very much for watching and coming to comment 👍 I can't wait either, it'll be somewhere between very cute or very mean, I just can't tell yet. I think it'll still have its intrinsic Classic Reborn beauty though❤️
Very brave Man taking a chance on what you did to your Royal Enfield 👍, but very clever with the look you got , loved the Video and watched from beginning to End , lovely job 😀 very impressed, well done 👏
Oh Glyn thats an amazing finish you achieved! I totally get what and why you did this, the tank esp with your graphics looks ace! Seen a lot of hot rods with this new/old look and you have achieved this 😁👍👍👍 Oh i could do something military like this! 🧐😜👍 Cheers Bruce
Hi Bruce, thanks very much for watching. The rustier you get it, the less you'd have to clean it! Your bike has the proper gravitas of being a used bike already though of course. I sometimes see bashed up Classic & Meteor tanks going for quite cheap on ebay, could always have a go on a backup tank, job for the mancave in winter 👍
You must of had a big grin, on peeling back the masking tape. Fantastic attention to detail and your desired look……❤it. Just wish I had even 25% of your ability to do these kind of work. I did feel, as watching that you was gonna get a much more rusty rustic finish, against the gee-tar😊 Fantastic work Glyn. Very much enjoyed the watch.
Hi Mark, hope it's going well up there. I was thinking about you when I was doing the yellow masking tape pinstripes, you could try some yellow vinyl pinstripes on your black mudguards like that, wouldn't even have to paint, anything for a bit more yellow 🤪
Thanks very much for commenting 🙏 The guitar is a bit of a cheese grater and the pain is real haha but it is very solid, just a bit of setup work needed, I'll hang it up at the workshop though as no room at home anyway 🤪
That's 1hr 17mins of my life I won't get back again🙃 absolutely love it Glyn, looking forward to seeing the 'rusty' cycle-parts complement the shiny engine etc. The pinstriping worked out far far better than I imagined it would. A great video series but kinda sad it will soon be completed/ending
haha you even counted the minutes 👍 I had much more but didn't dare make it any longer. It was a bit of an adventure but I'm glad where it's ended up, I think..... Don't worry, there'll always be more to do
Nailed it, absolutely brilliant Glyn. Looking forward to seeing the bike reassembled 😀. Also, loved the guitar intro you certainly know your way around that fretboard 🎸
@@GlynOC The further the better I say 🤣 When you said about putting stripes on it I was like 😬 ooh no Glyn, don’t do that. Proves what I know, as they look brilliant.
If that's the look that you're seeking then you've absolutely nailed it. But for me, well, I've never quite understood the desire to achieve something that historically, we always strived to avoid. Give me a nice shiny bike any day. But curiously, I'm really looking forward to seeing the end result for some reason. Dress up like Mad Max and you could be on to something 😂
Thanks very much, I value hearing your opinion 👍 I know it's a bit out there but it's all wrapped up with my own insecurity about having nice things, I might do a video on it but that doesn't sound much fun 🤪 Thanks for staying to watch 👍
Well done! I’m having similar ideas and this rusty paint is the way to go. For me, instead of looking like a bike from the Titanic, I would go for a barn find look. Bits of rust in typical rusty spots. Like where the paint might have chipped or been rubbed through. More like those antiqued guitars that Fender sells.
I think you must have seen my guitar collection! Now I've seen how the system works, I can see how it would be ideal for that type of mixed finish and maybe I'll try that with something else as it looks brilliant mixing the rust with existing paint. I'm surprised how easy that would have been. I am pleased with the scorched earth look though haha, go hard or go home eh 🤪 thanks for watching, Glyn
Nice one Glynn ..That opening with the sleaves had me checking it wasn't April 1st rather than July! Really great look with the paint ... would love to see it in the flesh , unique !
haha thank you 👍 I might use them for painting to keep my arms clean, or when mowing the lawn 🤪 I'll be doing a cafe tour when it's done so will be up there I'm sure🫶
Dam Glyn, You've totally messed with my head. First had to pause video to check back on previous episode to see you didn't have tats. You got me there for abit. Then the first coat in satin against base colour, looked excellent. Then the next bit..... Wow stunning. That came out so good. Cant wait till next episode now. Great job Glyn.
haha Hi Phil, my wife was laughing, perhaps I'll have to wear them at home 🤪 They're oddly comfortable and apparently can be used to stop sunburn instead of cream so I'll take them to the beach maybe. I was a bit sad to see the black/grey disappear, it was the best looking bike for a few hours!!!
I have been watching all your video's and now i am certain: you reached a master degree in creativity. Whow, what an amazing result. Nice tattoos by the way, you should lease those sleeves on ha ha. Thanks Glyn for this wonderfull upload, love from Holland
Its a 2000 XL1200S. No bling no markings just British racing green tank and guards with black bars and cast wheels. I'd send a pic but no idea how to 🙂
Wow! This build just gets better and better Glyn. I wonder if it's worth trying to display it at the Bike Shed in London (or a more local equivalent) when they have their show. There are lots of expensive builds out there, but this is as good as many I've seen and on a much smaller budget. Well played sir 👏
Love the look of the rusty parts but not to sure how it will go with the rest of the bike looking so clean and shiny - the frame and exhausts don't really fit - but it will be interesting to see the final look
I"m hoping the engine bars, rack and sump will kind of tip the balance towards rusty that might not happen if it was just the tinwork but we'll have to see about that! I don't think the shop will take them back now🤪
I am not totally sold as yet! It all looks a bit too orange 🍊 for me. Not enough original colour that's gone rusty. Will have to see the final out come. 😊
Great video Glyn! Yesterday I washed the car. By the time I was finished there was a thin sheen of rust already developing on my brake discs. If I was rust where I live, I just leave it outside . That was pure entertainment factor rolling your sleeves up. Brilliant. Question, what happens when you take this out in the rain, will the rust run?
Thanks very much for watching again. Apparently you're supposed to avoid washing it for a few weeks (which is fine) and then it should be pretty much set. There's a fine brown powder on it at the mo which will wash off I'm sure the first time it sees rain and it'll keep changing in some way but should stop eventually 👍 I'm looking forward to seeing what it does and knowing that I can't do much about it!
Hello Glyn, I love your videos! It's like being there with you in the creative and contemplative process. This is my favourite TH-cam channel😊 Just a thought: the Meteor 350's asymmetrical speedo looks, to my eye, like it would be more pleasing if it were centrally mounted. Could this be relatively easily modified? Best wishes, Julian
Thanks very much Julian, that's so kind 👍 Yes, there's a company called Guerra Custom Design in Brazil who send to the UK and make a simple speedo braket to centre mount it which looks good. It does end up quite high up as it has to get past the ignition. If you google their site, you can see pics, they also so an awesome looking pillion replacement rack
What have you done Glyn ,it looks awful 😖!!!......naw I'm pulling your leg 🦵,it's..different, you don't know you could start of a trend , now you can go to a bike custom exhibition, you could win a prize 😁. Peace out ✌️

Thanks very much for watching 👍 It would have been much braver if it hadn't been all bashed up to start with, not too much to lose with this one🤪
@GlynOC Well that's OK then you've obviously improved the looks and got what you intended it to be , Good Luck with the completion.
I admit I had some doubts when You started this rust paint thing, Glyn. Now I honestly think Your bike will be superb. Unique.
Thanks very much, I don't blame you at all, it's a bit of a risk! Am hopeful though, thanks for your support 👍

It's gonna look great😂
Thanks!

You are brave to go new ways with your RE - love it.
Thank you! We shall see where it leads...
That looks incredible Glyn! Loved the guitar playing at the beginning as well - you are clearly a man of many talents.
