    Camphor is a substance that is produced by the camphor tree as a cough/itch remedy. Chamfer is the angled or beveled edge on a material.

    What low pass filter do you recommend for this driver?

    Hello.... I was looking browsing trough you site and lead a few reviews. Have you gotten a change to review or listen to the HYbrid audio L3SE? And if you have, how does it comare to this M3 and the scan peak F10 ? Also any good tweeters you recommend to use with that Scan peak driver? Thank you so much for your great work

    Could you do test like this on other 3 inch speakers on the market. I really like the look or the new DD audio aw3 or Audiofrog gs25

    So what would you recommend for xovers for these? I have the full SI three way. Will mount the 6.5 low in the doors, the M3 in the A pillar, the M25 tweeter next to the M3 in the sail panel.
    Type filter?(LR, Butterworth..) (12db, 18db, 24db) Looking for good starting points for all 3. If I set the M3 to play 500Hz-3000kHz, do I set my midbass to cut off at 500Hz as well? Tweeter cut at 3000kHz? Or do I set the off a bit, say at 450hz(midbass) and 3500kHz(tweeter)???

    • @ErinsAudioCorner
      @ErinsAudioCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on the car and the install. A lower crossover will help keep from having issues and mid range or separated more than a wave length. However if they’re not, you can push the mid range at MrBeast Crossing region a little bit higher and take some of the load off of the mid range. As far as the tweeter goes I’ll probably would not cross in higher than 4k because the mid is too directional by then. I recommended 300 Hz to 3kHz in the review but your install and your listening conditions will change that.

    • @46HarvesterOfSorrow
      @46HarvesterOfSorrow 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ErinsAudioCorner Do you leave a gap in the Xovers? Like say 300hz for the M3, but 250hz for the midbass? 3000kHz for the M3 and 3500kHz on the M25? Or do you set them equal as far as the cutoff #?

    • @ErinsAudioCorner
      @ErinsAudioCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@46HarvesterOfSorrow the electrical crossover and the acoustical crossover are different. If I find a need where a gap in electrical crossovers is needed then I would. But, like anything else, it really depends on the exact install conditions. If you don't own a microphone you might want to consider investing in one. It will help a lot (once you get through the learning curve).

      We have that same setup in our Passat. Just for a frame of reference here are our crossover points. All are 24 dB/octave: 70 Hz, 300 Hz, and 5,000 Hz. TM65's cover from 70 Hz to 300 Hz. M3's cover 300 Hz to 5,000 Hz. M25's cover from 5,000 Hz to 20,000 Hz.

    I enjoyed your review. I have some $900 Old mbquart Q speakers that sound tremendous, but 😮 when the bass hits certain notes 🎶 it sounds plucky. I was thinking like you said if I altered the crossover so insteat of it playing down to 50hz I limit it to maybe 400. Let other drivers play 400 down could I use my mb quarts❓ The vocals are crystal clear and I really think 🤔 I've never heard anything that sounds as clear as those mids. Can I get your opinion ❓🤔

    Is the reduction in IMD you showed something that follows for all midrange drivers? What I mean is limiting the low frequency reproduction by way of the HPF.

    • @ErinsAudioCorner
      @ErinsAudioCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      IMD is created (in part) by playing low frequencies at the same time you play high frequencies. The more the cone moves, the more potential for IMD there is. Here's a good link that discusses what it is and how it can be measured. www.klippel.de/know-how/measurements/nonlinear-distortion/intermodulation-distortion.html

    Will this driver outperform a Scanspeak 10F for distortion when crossed above 300hz like you mentioned?

    • @ErinsAudioCorner
      @ErinsAudioCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been so long since I've looked at the data of the 10f, I couldn't honestly say. I will say that the 10f is one of the most recommended drive units for good reason.

    How does this compare to the GB25?

    • @ballz50401
      @ballz50401 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Subjectivity I preferred the M3 over the GB25 in my installation firing up into the windshield dash corners. Just my personal preference. Both are great drivers, just depends on installation and personal preference.

    • @ErinsAudioCorner
      @ErinsAudioCorner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      FWIW, I tested the GB25 here: www.erinsaudiocorner.com/driveunits/audiofrog_gb25/
      Both are good in their own right.
      Sensitivity: Both are around 85dB @ 2.83v/1m.
      Frequency Response linearity: both are fairly linear below their beaming point.
      The GB25 is ±1.5dB from ~160Hz - 3.5kHz.
      The M3 Carbon is ±1.5dB from ~110Hz - 3.0kHz.
      Both are below 1% THD above 300Hz at ~96/97dB output @ 1 meter.
      The GB25 is a bit smaller. So if space is limited it seems like the better choice. If you can fit the M3 then the value seems to be a bit better there (MSRP of $400/pair on the SI website vs the GB25 MSRP of $450/pair).
