I personally think that Lego's pricing is utterly insane and a lot of content creators don't talk about that enough, but as it is a complicated relationship between the company and content creators, I understand why it isn't a major talking point for them. I think the absolute maximum for this set should be $500, but it should come with the sarlaac pit, both Desert Skiffs we see in the movie, 15 more minifigures just to populate the barge, and another 10 or so for the desert skiffs. The Mos Eisley cantina, designed by the same person, is just proof that there was potential for much more. Even with all the figures in areas of build, it feels very scant, when we all know how jam-packed the barge was in the movie. The Avengers tower had a bloody 31 minifigures for that price. For such an insanely high price point, people should be getting more. A lot more.
100%. As much as I love Lego as a *product*, the company has completely taken advantage of the fact that they are the *only* company making products like this that are considered legit (as in, other brick system companies are seen as knock-offs). They have no competition, plus they are aware of the huge collectors basis they have- and they take advantage of all of it! It's morally ridiculous. A perfect example of this is how they released Max Rebo and Captain Rex in $500 and $600 sets, damn well knowing that those figures are already of high value! They knew people would buy those sets JUST for them. (Especially true in the case of Captain Rex, seeing as they released him in a $13 set a year later, knowing that if he wasn't exclusive to the UCS set it wouldn't sell as well). Kinda ties back to how they now own BrickLink, so they PROFIT off of RESALES??? That is insane. The community needs to be more aware of how economically predatory Lego has become. It's literally sad.
This is essentially a $580 dollar set. So many iconic characters to the scene left out just for Lego to be able to sell them to you for $80. For $500 they could have at the very least included the minifigures that come with the Desert Skiff

I have over $200 in Lego reward points, and even with the GWP I still can’t bring myself to buy this any time soon. $500 is a crazy price. Thanks for tackling the issue of price in such a critical and honest way. Some reviewers getting this early aren’t always direct about it
$500 set requires the highest piece counts and quality. This means this really should include: -x2 desert skiffs -Luke and Boba mini figs -Sarlac pit (larger than the one in the separate set) -no stickers or less than 5 at most -the upmost quality mini figure prints. Meaning full arm and leg prints and iris’ for the characters. Don’t tell me I’m being picky or asking for too much, that’s 500 f*cking dollars for plastic. 500. I said this in another video but I started this hobby in 2006 with the original Sail Barge, but I’ll be ending it with this new variant. Lego has become way out of my price range these past few years, and I’ve missed out on a lot of cool sets because of it. Luckily I’ve saved $300 dollars of VIP points so this purchase will be much kinder to me, but I’ve decided that I’m done with this hobby after this until they change their ridiculous price tags
You don‘t need to stopp the hobby, simply change the producer. Bluebrixx has a lot of beautifull sets, ofcourse if it was star wars you enjoyed building things might be a bit more difficult, but if you like castles and other stuff too. I‘m confident you‘ll find nice products. And bluebrixx has better quality management than lego. + in the worst case one can simply buy the single bricks and download the instruction I bet this will end up much cheaper
Nice set, which definitely does not fit with the price tag - price cut figure selection (Bib Fortuna head piece, CPO legs etc), low number of minifigures (no Yakface, band members etc) , no side skiff. It does not live up to previous UCS SW sets at all
I really hope this undersells so they get the message. Prices are greedy and this is one of the worst examples of SW tax. Not at all worth the 500, it should have been 400 max
i agree...$400 is reasonable. Rivendell blows this out of the water in terms of parts and minifigs for $500. Disney SW tax shows Disney ain't doing to hot. Parks and Theater prices must be at all time lows. Only thing keeping Disney floating was this years Pixar Inside Out 2 😆
350 is more reasonable, especially since you pretty much have to get 80$ set for the scene and whole minifigure collection. I hope this will tank so aggresively, Lego will beg fans to get it off them
Okay I’m going to be honest sure it stinks we aren’t getting a desert skiff and sarlac with the set, but what I’m most upset about is how lazy some of the minifigures were. We should have gotten dual molded legs for C-3PO and the correct head mold for Bib Fortuna.
I’ve seen a lot of sentiment saying it’s too small, even someone that said it’s barely bigger than the old model (which we clearly see isn’t the case). It’s PLENTY big enough… it doesn’t need to be much bigger than it is… it’s just too expensive.
Looked up some in-universe measurements and I can confirm that this is as close to minifigure scale as possible. It's not perfect, but that's probably because lego minifigure proportions are wacky as is.
You’re a great salesperson for LEGO, I’ll give you that. Really show what parts of this set shine and what could be a little better. You might have convinced me, this is a very cool and fun set.
That little jabba picture of himself in the palace 13:03 could be a possible future set there teasing, like a small overpriced throne room diorama, could totally see them making if this set sells well
If you sell that light saber within the first month or so, it will probably fetch closer to $200. Just like the other ones sold for that much on eBay and Bricklink and then they leveled out after a couple years. I immediately sold The Fell Beast for $150 to help level the cost of the Barur-Dur set (plus used $200 worth of points).
Great set, but my only negative comment is that the 3 blocks holding up the barge should have been clear plastic and not black so that it looks more like it’s floating. Other than that - if you’ve got the cash get it!
There were 2 skiffs in RotJ. LEGO should have added another skiff with the exact same instructions. They should have also added more minifigs to the set (another Gamorrean guard, Ree-Yees, Klaatu, a Weequay guard etc). I hope LEGO comes out with a Jabba's goons battle pack sometime in 2025 so I can fill up that set.
For the first time in 20 years of collecting (hundreds of sets, incl. modern classics, complete modulars, LoftR/Hobbit, plus) I'm no longer a "Lego purist." This year I tried companies with fantastic original designs (Funwhole) and licensed products (Pantasy -- Sherlock Holmes sets). Cobi is fantastic as well. Often all printed/no stickers, lighting, and about 1/3 cost -- even better box design, box art, instruction books, and packaging of parts (clearer steps/parts identification). Meanwhile Lego is headed, in my view, toward a "market bubble" as it ups prices, releases sets that while quality clearly don't include as many features or minifigures as should for price (might have to spend more on another set to get the minifigures that actually best fit in set you spent $$$ on). I think the private sellers have gotten greedy, over invested themselves, and again are creating a bubble that will eventually burst and damage Lego, consumers, and private investor-sellers. It's a shame.
Remember the time when the most expensive LEGO Star Wars set was the Death Star with the most minifigures in a set for $369. Man. How times have changed.
Realistically while it is overpriced it’s kinda our fault. Pretty much every ucs Star Wars set sells out instantly so Lego think they can get away w these prices. If nobody bought it it’d be cheaper but that’s not the case
I really like this but for the price they should have made it a tad bigger in terms of height. I feel they should have made two levels and include a lounge for the figures on the top level below the deck. The razor crest had two levels. I also feel they should have a terrarium where they had the creatures to feed Jabba that kitchen looks small for Jabba and his crew not to mention cramped with the ladder. Maybe some bunkers would be nice. All in all it looks like a deluxe version of the 2014. 2014 had the same set up kitchen and jail/armory and Jabba thrown room and max Rebo room. All in all the details are amazing
Star Wars geek here, because Lego likes sneaking in easter eggs- The signs in the kitchen read "Womp Rat Stew" and "Bantha Roast," the prison cell's reads "Han Was Here," and the control panel in the cockpit simply reads "Scanning."
In the Batcave set you actually get a whole batmobile that is near identical to the standalone batmobile set. I don't know why they couldn't do the same here with the skiff
I truly think if this set was $50-100 cheaper, included the best C-3PO, and had a new skinnier mold for Bib Fortuna’s head tails, it would be a perfect UCS set. It’s SO CLOSE it’s such a great set! It’s just sadly missing those small things and is just too expensive.
The fact they felt the need to "cover" Leia's bikini even on an 18+ set (and didn't do it until 2024) speaks volumes about LEGO's and Disney's hypocrisy... Yes the bikini is sexist, because it is supposed to be, since it is the symbol of Leia's slavery and she was forced to wear it. People who made this minifigure think they know better what we need, but they just don't know what they're dealing with
Lego know what they’re doing with not including: fully printed c3po, another skiff, stickers etc. they just know people are going to buy regardless it’s sad
Appreciate your honesty in your reviews. A lot of streamers just want to suck up to the retail stores to obtain free sets for reviews. It's obvious your viewers come first. Thanks for that!
Great review. My first reaction was "but it's just brown," then caught myself as a die-hard fan of the "just grey" flying dorito. To each their own, and just makes me wish that the Star Destroyer had gotten more figures too. The interior on this is also awesome
When I was a kid and I read the Lego Star Wars visual dictionary, the original Jabba's sail barge was my #1 most wanted set. Next year when I graduate and get a full time job, this set, along with the desert skiff, are absolute pickups for me, regardless of how overpriced they may be.
The price makes absolutely no sense. They couldn't even bother including Luke or the best C3PO in the set, expecting you to get an 80 dollar add on in the form of the desert skiff. And no, it's not in line with other things. Rivendell blows this set out of the water in terms of quality, minifigures, and piece count.
It’s not a drinking pipe it’s a microphone if you watch that one clip in return of the Jedi, you can see c3po holding it and talking into the PA system on the sale barge
I wonder if someone will make an aftermarket leg piece for slave Leia. I think there could be some interest in that as long as the printing matches up.
$500 for half assed minifigs is ridiculous, cheap C-3PO, entirely wrong bib fortuna, and leia, the rest of the minifigs are just meh. Only good one is the gamorrean guard. Still want this though 😭
LEGO prices just get more and more insane with every passing year. I remember getting the Ninjago Movie Destiny's Bounty, which is a massive set, was $160 RRP, and 2,300 pieces with 7 minifigs. I get that was 7 years ago now, and it wasn't licenced, but even so, $500 for 4000 pieces is insanity.
Whoever is responsible for the prices at Lego does not understand that as a customer you're supposed to pay LESS per piece if it's a larger set, not MORE.
Gonna pick this and the skiff up at the same time for sure. Ever since the complete saga came out when i was a kid i wanted this set, and now im working i can finally get it. It only took me 15 years 😂
David I remember watching your review of the 06 Barge and Palace sets as legoboy12345678. That was my white whale. i’ve fallen in and out of love with Lego since then, but you’ve been there the whole time.
This is overpriced but not as much as people are making it seem. Those who are saying this should have been 300-350 are actually insane... ~4000 peices for 400 is STANDARD. Then account for jabba+starwars tax and your looking at maybe 440-450. This thing is maybe 50 bucks overpriced tops. (The sarlacc pit is also overpriced, if that was 60 and this was 440 i think it would be completely fair)

Anyone else want to mention the price? Lego know this set will attract a lot of older star wars fans that like me the price is no problem, I think it’s a fantastic set, yes the price is higher then other sets released a year or so ago but a cup of coffee has gone up to so you can’t expect Lego to stay at a normal cost .
Don't forget what you have to pay if you want the accurate Boba Fett, and any other minifigures to fill out the set.
@@jasondismuke4837yea the C-3PO is so damn stupid he’s in sets way cheaper than this, and it’s not like Rex he is in the build able C-3PO and the landspeeder but this one double/triple the price same thing for bib fortuna being fat when they had an skinny one from the set they took salacious crumb and jab a from “only the best is good enough”
It‘s 660 is you want both Desert Skiffs to recreate the movie scene.
It's easier to talk positively about a $500 set when you got it for free.
I know, crazy when you buy enough they start sending you stuff for free.
@@Will-om5wbthat’s not how he got these sets for free. It’s thru the ambassador program. He didn’t get sets because he bought a bunch of sets. However I do agree that when you get this for free it’s easier to talk positive
Exactly...
ongggg
I mean hes a reviewer, the review of the actual set is the main thing, im not trynna glaze but he did mention the expensive prize, and there has been multiple times that he strongly didnt recommend bying a set with a high price
That smile at the beginning says it all: David was damn frickin happy he got it for free lol
It's NOT the Ultimate Display with only One $80 set, YOU NEED TWO OVERPRICED $80 sets to Complete the Scene, but Since Lego can't be bothered to make Tattooine Skiff Guards, $500 Sail Barge, 2x $80 Skiffs, and you still have to Customize. Congratulations.
I love how EVERY pic on the book is literally about the sail's barge with the skiffs included, even mocking us by showing the full play scene with the skiff's set combined in a beautiful pic, that although is not included in a $500 set and you have to buy for nothing less than $80.
I mean, at this point I almost feel offended
I have over $200 in Lego reward points, and even with the GWP I still can’t bring myself to buy this any time soon. $500 is a crazy price. Thanks for tackling the issue of price in such a critical and honest way. Some reviewers getting this early aren’t always direct about it
$500 set requires the highest piece counts and quality. This means this really should include:
-x2 desert skiffs
-Luke and Boba mini figs
-Sarlac pit (larger than the one in the separate set)
-no stickers or less than 5 at most
-the upmost quality mini figure prints. Meaning full arm and leg prints and iris’ for the characters.
Don’t tell me I’m being picky or asking for too much, that’s 500 f*cking dollars for plastic. 500. Don’t tell me what they’re selling for that price is enough.
Lego needs to stop sending these sets out for free to reviewers, especially when they give a “ value “ review knowing they got it for free to review
Why would they do that
@@YoungMan585 They aren't gonna do it but this guy is so biased that you can't call this a real review
That's all you have to do, is review it... ?
Yeah BUT he even says the price is crazy. Not like he is defending these steep costs.
@@xMcLite You think this price is steep, wait 4 years down the line. There'll be a couple lego ships, for a thousand dollars. And you'll be like, thank god i got these 4 years ago or whatever.
Reminder to anyone who has forgotten or needs to hear this: the Avengers Tower also costs $500, has 5201 pieces, and comes with 30/31 figures. Their quality is debatable, but so is this set's price tag and figure execution.
Be mindful of your purchase or if it's fully worth it, because it surely looks to be the opposite
I definitely think it’s worth it. Looks sick. Sorry you can’t afford it.
@@MikeSmith-sz8my you're totally missing the point. It's not a question of being able to afford it, but rather the retail price being absurd. I have the Avengers Tower and, fortunately, am in a position to afford the Sailbarge: still doesn't make it worth it when you use your brain and ponder different factors
@@ThomasReaper1 Something is worth what people are willing to pay for it. This will be on backorder within 2 hours. You could honestly make a better argument this underpriced instead of over. People would pay $800 for it.
@@MikeSmith-sz8my only ludicrous people like you would be willing to pay that price. Brand recognition shouldn't be the main metric, but that's what you get with the SW community. At least I provided statistics and logic, unlike going on a limb to justify greediness of exploitation from Lego

His girlfriend becoming his fiancee and the UCS Sail barge in about a week. You are living the dream! 😊
Also the fact that they included the wrong C3PO it should had the duel leg version, and they should had pupils for the kwoakian it just looks odd without it.
Thats good of you. Lego can be seriously addicting
Only thing keeping Disney floating was this years Pixar Inside Out 2 😆
don’t forget the Jabba tax 👀
350 is more reasonable, especially since you pretty much have to get 80$ set for the scene and whole minifigure collection. I hope this will tank so aggresively, Lego will beg fans to get it off them
Okay I’m going to be honest sure it stinks we aren’t getting a desert skiff and sarlac with the set, but what I’m most upset about is how lazy some of the minifigures were. We should have gotten dual molded legs for C-3PO and the correct head mold for Bib Fortuna.
$500 dollars and it still includes stickers?!?!
So Lego basically priced in the GWP. It's $250 over priced in Canada which is what th saber will be worth.
There should be way more minifigures for $500.
Realistically while it is overpriced it’s kinda our fault. Pretty much every ucs Star Wars set sells out instantly so Lego think they can get away w these prices. If nobody bought it it’d be cheaper but that’s not the case
Facts. For every greedy company there are ten thousand suckers enabling the behaviour.
we fr need a jedi temple ucs set in 2025 that would be insane
Could have been a perfect set if the Skiff + Sarlac set was included. What a shame.
Need a UCS Sith Infiltrator! Minifigure scale, Darth Maul and Palpa or get crazy and add exclusive Plaguis minifigure. Go ahead take my money.
In the Batcave set you actually get a whole batmobile that is near identical to the standalone batmobile set. I don't know why they couldn't do the same here with the skiff
0:22 Reminds me of that Beverly Hills Cop scene "I need-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS-read my lips: FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS is what I need"
People who made this minifigure think they know better what we need, but they just don't know what they're dealing with
The pants on Slave Leia are kinda funny 🤣🤣🤣
Congrats on the engagement!
If you've got 75174 Desert Skiff Escape you've got an extra Skiff.
It’s insane that a Bantha wasn’t included 🤣
Yea they’re walking along in a pack in the background
Maybe a bunch of smaller ones to display behind it would make sense
Not brick built, the one on the Lego video game :)
@@satseucastromech isn’t it too big tho? They’d only have 1 if it was that size
It’s wild how you guys get this for free
Lego know what they’re doing with not including: fully printed c3po, another skiff, stickers etc. they just know people are going to buy regardless it’s sad
Appreciate your honesty in your reviews. A lot of streamers just want to suck up to the retail stores to obtain free sets for reviews.
It's obvious your viewers come first. Thanks for that!
The only UCS SW set I will ever buy is if they do an updated version of Boba Fett's Slave 1, I just fear the price
I was so close to getting the last one, also I kind of hope they do the Jango Fett version next.
Don't forget, it would be called Boba Fett's Starship :)
Great review. My first reaction was "but it's just brown," then caught myself as a die-hard fan of the "just grey" flying dorito. To each their own, and just makes me wish that the Star Destroyer had gotten more figures too. The interior on this is also awesome
8:26 Kithaba is not new and was in the 2014 skiff
The dual molded legs make no sense for this character.
@@mrandersen6872 I agree. UCS sets are for adults. Not sure why they felt the need to censor her outfit for an adult audience.
@@austah2150 Funnily enough, the demand and price for slave Leila’s old mini-figure has gone up on eBay

Cool set, insane price!
I still need a long time to save up for it 🥲🥲🥲
I love Star Wars & lego but the price is insane
Gonna pick this and the skiff up at the same time for sure. Ever since the complete saga came out when i was a kid i wanted this set, and now im working i can finally get it. It only took me 15 years 😂

Was starting to think I was the only one who remembered his OG now and videos. Glad to see others out there still here today like me
Wow. Incredible this set fills me with joy and gratitude for the incredible dedication of all these designers who created this set ❤
(The sarlacc pit is also overpriced, if that was 60 and this was 440 i think it would be completely fair)
yeah and everyone compares prices from over a decade ago not realizing the economy then was not as inflated
For 500 dollars we should've got at least a desert skiff and the original mold for bibs head
must be nice to get so many free sets
Kithaba actually isn't a new character, we got him before in the 2012 desert skiff, that was one of my first lego star wars sets so I recognized him instantly
The jail cell says “HAN WAS HERE” 15:01
I came here to comment exactly that 😂
Just a reminder you can get a old Jabba barge for HALF this price on BL.
£430 no chance. Wait for Black Friday 2025 / May 4th at Argos, even then I’d be unsure
£430 is the UK price, but still pretty crazy. It needed a much lower price AND a lot more minifigures.

This is the set of the year, not all feel the same but this is perfection. Yes the price is a tad high but you have to pay to play in this hobby. This is so accurate to the source material with a level of detail i wasnt expecting especially the upper deck and the interior is a page torn from the Haslab version, 500 for this or 3000 for the Haslab your choice. Agreed
Omg I just need this so bad, the cantina is going to look amazing with this one

Ain’t no way this is minifig scale
It is, Jabbas Sail Barge is 30m long. Divide than by 42 for minifig scale you end up with 71cm or 28 inches.
@@cadeptt where does dividing by 42 come from? Is that Lego’s principle? Regardless, that explains the length, what about the height and width? Still minifig scale?
@@ToffaMore The 42 is assuming the average minifig is 6ft tall.
Great review David I like your honesty, I agree with you on it being a fantastic set. However, This is not smart marketing by LEGO it’s called price gouging consumers and is hurting their brand reputation and image. That should have been apart of the set at $500. I absolutely love the set and the design, nothing against the designers or set itself, but man oh man this pricing hurts. It’s just a slap in the face in my opinion.
“Thirty inches long! That’s a little under three feet!” That’s literally two and a half feet.
Would you take someone seriously if they were 5’6” and said they were JUST under 6’?
Anyone else want to mention the price?
Lego know this set will attract a lot of older star wars fans that like me the price is no problem, I think it’s a fantastic set, yes the price is higher then other sets released a year or so ago but a cup of coffee has gone up to so you can’t expect Lego to stay at a normal cost .
You could sell the Luke’s light saber buy the desert skiff with your earning from that and get at least $50-$70 back with your sale, it’s a no brainer.
P.s if you see someone complain about the price in the comments that doesn’t mean you have to be a parrot.

$580 for the full package is ridiculous. Wouldn’t expect to hear the Lego advertiser to complain too much about that though
