I remember seeing this short last month but had to go through almost all of your videos to find it again just so I could do exactly this in my current project. Upside is that along the way I learned even more tricks I hadn't seen before lol
Ha! Well, as excited as I am to hear that you watched a lot of my videos, I hate how bad TH-cam is for being able to search out a specific short from a specific creator. It’s just awful. I’m working on something that should make my entire catalog of shorts easier to navigate. I promise I’ll let you know the minute I get it done.
@@Daniel_Batal I saw you had a playlist but it was only ten videos. If you need any help with something like that let me know because I love to organize files.
I find them super useful. You can actually kind of do it without hitting the dynamic trim button as well, but that helps it snap to the beginning and assign the playhead
That's a great place to be. If you don't know why you'd need a feature...? DON'T learn it yet! Stick to where you're at in the learning curve. That'll make enjoying the software so much better if you don't get distracted with crap you don't even need to know. ❤
You don't need dynamic trim, just trim mode. You sre right. Dynamic mode is used for efitig as you play back footage. Check the manual, and learn how to search through it!
Daniel - an ask please. Can you do a short or vid on all of the different types of cuts, the differences and when to best use or the shortfalls of each one. The grab handles and trim types still confuse me. Love your work - by far the easiest tutorials to follow in no b%s language
Absolutely. Resolve calls it “Trim Edit” and the Dynamic portion is more for realignment of the playhead. You could actually turn that second part off and it would basically be a slip feature without the dynamic playhead motions
Еще в 2016 году, когда Resolve только-только добавили монтажку в программу, я сразу понял, насколько она удобна и приятна; а сейчас я вижу, как далеко Blackmagic зашли, она стала намного лучше Premiere.
Thankfully all of these Shorts are right on my channel homepage in a playlist along with other DaVinci Resolve tutorials that I really have tried to make SIMPLE and not complicated.
You can absolutely do it without the Dynamic Trim Mode enabled. It has a few subtle advantages, the most obvious difference is for advanced speed editing. If you're like me and often have projects with over 20 tracks and over 60 minutes of timeline to edit down, hitting the DTM will bring your playhead to the nearest beginning or end of the clip you highlight to perform a quick slip. If you look at the actual shape of the icon, it starts to make sense. It actually is a little 'playhead' with an arrow left & an arrow right pointing to each end.
What would be a great learning tool and reference in DR if when one Hovers over an ICON or Menu Item where the Nomenclature appears, if say I press some combination of that and the say F1key DR jumps to the reference of that ICON/function at the Place in the Davinci Resolve Reference Manual that explains that Icon or Function. Better yet an index of where that might be explained by a video From all the videos on TH-cam. Something like Searching Wikipedia with one word or name. I'll bet that would be worth a few buck to NOOBS, Even those using the FREE Davinci.
Nice!!! Im trying to workout w black magic why their paid version runs smooth for playback, but in render will crash, especially if I use a transition that was pre loaded in their software. ... However the free version renders, but has choppy playback. I have tried everything from giving my GPU priority, the app optimized as high performance. I have a laptop w 16gb ram Intel i7 at 2.30 ghz. GeForce 3050 ti laptop version. I have tried reducing render speeds. Turing off render preview, everything.. as soon as the render gets to a transition... Boom, crash, and it freezes then shuts down 🤷
@@Daniel_Batal correct, however, the free version wouldn't have any problems rendering, but the paid version crashed my system and closed down the app, anytime I would render and it got to a transition
As I said, the paid version has GPU acceleration so as you render with the Studio version, it's suddenly leaning on your GPU much harder. That 3050ti is fairly underpowered for advanced video editing. You're also using only 16GB of RAM which won't even run any of the Fusion options or effective handle 4k footage. The issue lies in your system resources. This might help give you an idea of the basics. I suggest not just meeting the system requirements but significantly exceeding them for any video editing software: motionarray.com/learn/davinci-resolve/davinci-resolve-system-requirements/
@@Daniel_Batalmaybe one day when I have like $2k to throw on a batter system or if I ever start getting paid for editing. Right now it's just a hobby. Unfortunately davinchi has made it difficult to go to any other platform due to things like color grading etc
Resolve runs really well on a 16GB M1 Mac Mini. You can pick those up cheap. Resolve is also built natively on Apple Architecture and was optimzed for M1 performance. I run it on both OS and the M1 almost keeps up with my custom $8,000 PC tower for daily editing chores.
No, in most cases you don't but in a heavier edit with a lot more tracks it interacts a bit differently so I tend to do it as habit. Plus it brings my playhead right to the split point where I can quickly see the scrub change easier
Unfortunately, I don’t think you can at this time. They have default colors that currently have a very limited selection and you have to change them in the project.
I'm getting sooo infuriated cause I'm doing EXACTLY this but the clip keeps moving in the timeline and taking over the clip beside it instead of sliding in place. 😭
How can you INDEX all your Videos for a WORD search so with by entering a few words one can find a particular video. Like this one, in less than a minute, you explain how by activating the Dynamic Trim mode & Trim Edit Mode, one can SLIP a Clip back & forth to achieve the exact part you want. That was in Premiere Pro as SLIP.
