The Quartz Crisis of the 1970's refers to the period of time in which the mechanical Swiss watch manufacturers were threatened by the increase of inexpensive quartz watches. In the video it says it was actually quartz watches threatened by digital watches, which is incorrect.

Im an AP owner and fan. I’m far from being a billionaire. I’m interested in this video but the intro made me lol and stop. I work for billionaires and they don’t buy any consumer grade stuff at all. They are the most simple, down to earth and intelligent people I’ve met (the ones I know anyway). People who produce consumer grade products never consume these products themselves. It’s the millionaires and even more so the lower classes who must have these things. AP is my favorite brand of consumer grade timepieces but far from worthy of being coveted by the elite. But I guess this is all part of the show aye? Anyway thanks for the info.... and the laugh. 😊✊🏽
Hey Alux, maybe it would be a good idea to do some vids on entry level luxury watches like Movado, Bulova, Tissot etc. You know watches in the hundreds to thousands range. I bet it was the first step for many millionaires/billionaires before the high-end luxury watches you posted. Bolova's curved watch is actually really cool and ground-breaking for the price.
And yeah it's mostly about Royal Oak... If some of the info here isn't right then which video has all the right info? Also if someone can buy 10 APs then that person can most probably buy a wellness focused luxury home from where I am too.
As a haute horology manufacturers AP is a one trick pony and it is debatable how AP is part of the holy trinity of horology. JLC should replace AP to join PP and VC on the top of mass produced luxury watch. Having said that Royal Oak is undeniably a beautiful piece, however the rest of their brand have failed to live up to Royal Oak's high reputation.
I totally agree. To me AP is becoming much more like rolex as in they don't make watches for watch enthusiasts as much as they used to. It's all about money now.
To be fair the Patek nautilus movement isn’t any better than the Royal Oak. Neither of them are complicated at all. It’s all about the style not really the movement.
idk why all these sissies are getting all bitchy just because the company has no "history" boohoo, if the watch looks cool and has insane complications i like it. i dont care for those vacheron constantines that look like the type of watch that people 200 years ago would wear, but hey thats just my opinion, i like AP and patek because the at least look a little modern.
I've got both the Royal Oak 15400 and an Offshore... both of which has overtaken my two tone blue/gold Rolex Sub. APs... once u get one, another is bound to follow... its a curse! (albeit a good curse) Enjoyed the video, thanks a lot! Cheers all!
Wow. You know AP make more than just the Royal Oak right? The Quantieme Perpetual was the watch introduced to counter the quartz movement, not the Royal Oak.
The most bold, sophisticated and sportiest luxury Audemar Piguet watch is the offshore in rose gold for me I love that one it just says success when you see it on someone's wrist.

Jean Claude Biver himself said that the inspiration for the RO was the porthole. Where’d you get your facts? As a fan of the watch, I wanna know the truth. No offense but at this point I’d rather believe JCB
