    I also have ordered, and am awaiting arrival of my new 7300. Super excited about getting it in the shack! The features seem a bit overhwelming, but nothing that I can’t figure out. Thanks for the explanations. I’m sure I will be back to watch again, as I work my way through the radio!

    Love the video. I've been debating what to buy and this was very much like going to the store to try one out (6 hours away to nearest one, so that's helpful). Organized and thorough yet concise enough to keep our attention.

    Thank you so much! This tour of the rig was extremely helpful. One question: When using the IC-7300 as a base station, I'd like to run the audio into my recording studio setup, either through my audio desk or through my audio interface. What do you suggest as the best way to do so? Should I merely use the analog external speaker connection, the ACC, the USB output into my computer then out to the interface? Any wisdom you could impart would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

      The 7300 does not come with a supplied SD Card. You will need a SDHC card no larger than 32gb.

    Nice radio, what r some of the purposes for the SD card? 73 kc1ero

    • @stephenvenner1531
      @stephenvenner1531 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Jason,
      Many thanks for the question.
      The SD card can be used for several purposes such as saving the radio's configuration. This is useful should you have the radio set up for a specific function - such as data modes, where the audio paths are configured in a specific way, and levels are set to particular levels. It can take some time to configure the radio to get it to work the way you want, and by storing these settings on the SD card, then they can easily be recalled if you ever have to reset the radio for whatever reason.
      Another uses of the SD card can be to save your memory channel contents, save your transmitted and received audio, save the communication and receive history log, voice audio for the Voice TX function, the RTTY decode log, the transmitted or received RTTY decode history, screen captures... The list goes on and on!
      You also use the SD to update the firmware of the radio.
      I hope this helps, but if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
      Cheers,
      Steve (G0TAN / W6TAN).

    I have a question for you. I have just got the 7300 and I noticed that sometimes on the display I see a faint red word that tends to flicker on and off not all the time but sometimes. It shows up flickering faintly on the meter screen at the top of the screen between the Fil2 box and the SD card icon. It is very faint and it reads either QVF or OVF, Like I said this doesn't happen all the time and just comes and goes on various bands. I can't find anything in the manual on this. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

      If it's the OVF light, it means receiver overload. There's a video about it here - th-cam.com/video/dOygcdEcRpE/w-d-xo.html

    is there a transverter function on this radio to alter frequencey

  • @0ActionMonkey0

    Nice radio, but with all its functions it would have been much better & interesting if it could decode CW as a rolling text .

    • @Markinpuff
      @Markinpuff 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      0ActionMonkey0 I agree 1 million percent.. That would have made this radio so much more fun. However you can use a pc to decode it using the radio.

  • @JeffHochberg

    Does this transceiver support 2m, 70cm or DStar? Or only high frequency?

    • @stephenvenner1531
      @stephenvenner1531 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jeff,
      Many thanks for the question...
      Sorry to say that this radio is only HF + 6m + 4m.
      If you want an Icom which covers 2m & & 70cm as well, then you would need to look at the IC-7100 or IC-9100. Alernatively, there's the Yaesu FT-991 (or FT-991A).
      Please let me know if I can be of more help.
      73,
      Steve (G0TAN / W6TAN).

    What voltage will it take. I mean it the a tranformer to brnimg down the powr

    • @stephenvenner1531
      @stephenvenner1531 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James, I'm not sure what you mean... Do you mean what is the minimum voltage that the radio will operate on (before it switches off), or what is the minimum voltage that the radio will still provide 100W OP?

    • @jamesbaxter2812
      @jamesbaxter2812 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The power it need to work. If the is a transfor, in the line, I need the out put VOltage

    • @stephenvenner1531
      @stephenvenner1531 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK, I measured the operating voltages on our demo unit, and the nominal voltrage is 13.8 Volts.
      It still gives full output power (100W) at 13V... After this, the output power drops off as the input voltage is reduced.
      The radio will work down to about 10.5V, but the power output will only be about 5W.
      Below 10.5V, the radio will not power up...
      I''m still not 100% sure if that's what you mean, as you mentioned about if there is a transformer in-line. This is a DC radio, and you should be connecting it to a PSU which supplies 13.8V, at around 20-30A.
