Speedlimiter are such an underrated feature in cars! You can just concentrate on whats going on the road, which is particular usefull in a City and don't need to watch the speed.
Lack of speed limiter is one of the worst things about Teslas. I find driving around the countryside I normally set the limiter to 60 and then I can focus on the road, not the dials. In many places you can't reach that speed, but the when you reach a straight section it's good to know you can put your foot down without worrying, slow down for the corner, go again and still be limited.
@@rjmunro I think they should be standard in every new car, watched @what'sinside of him taking his daughter on her first drive . the speed limit was 65 shes going 70mph..... then i found out yep they dont have them
Nice to have these automatic features, but expensive to fix when they go wrong. A friend was quoted £800 for an automatic wiper controller. He went to Halfords and paid £5 for a finger operated switch.
I have many of these features on my MG5 - helps to let you just concentrate on observing what’s going on around you! Especially like the auto-dimming rear view mirror at night when a car comes up behind you! Best secret discovery was how to turn down the indicator click-clack sound!!
You can adjust the airflow in the driver cabin by hitting any of the three arrows when you open the control screen. The active air flow arrow will light up in yellow.
Love the vids mate, but I think many of us would like to know: where are the work shifts? Nothing more relaxing than watching you ferry punters about town. Cheers and have a good one.
Oh Tom those auto lights and wipes are the Bain of my life as a MOT tester (and hackney) , I have to test the lights manually and if you imaging at some point your car is headlamp to face height of a tester there on the ramp so we turn the lights off. I have had complains either way "you turned the autos off...you turned the autos on!" but as a tester your car is not the same as your other car you have just tested...Its the "ever since you MOTed my car the wipers don't work"' , "well use them switch on mrs" we are a legal test if you cant use your car to the minimum standard that we test them at you should not drive....Just saying xx great videos Thanks Tom for your time with us to share your life x
I would actually argue that the auto headlights setting on modern cars is a problem. Every so often where I live (suburban Berkshire) I see cars driving un-lit in the dark, or with nothing more than the front LED glow-strip 'daytime running lights' on. Precisely because the instruments are now constantly backlit instead of it corresponding to lights being on, inattentive or ignorant drivers have no concept of how visible they are at night anymore. Some conveniences are a false economy, IMO...
The lights on the TXE are always on front and rear when set to auto, although they are dipped or whats called daylight running lights in the day and will go to main beam not high in dark conditions.
About the Auto-Low beams There's no feature I hate more than auto lighting, because 1: Having low beams on all the time increases safety and doesn't drain that much energy 2: Auto-Lights isn't 100 % accurate 3: That day-drive light or whatever it's called only lights up the front, which doesn't show me, a cyclist, coming from the back, whether you park or yield/etc., also a lot of people don't know that and so if they see lights upfront, they gotta be in the back too - When auto lights don't auto turn on when lights should be on And before I end up in a rant about this stupid feature, I'll just hope people know that low beams are better and you have to worry about less than with auto lights

The worrying thing with all the gear loaded into new cars is what info gets sent back to the factory, a program on TH-cam tells that driving habit information is sold to insurance companies and something like leaving a vehicle parked outside overnight can void the insurance if it was stated the vehicle is garaged overnight. In car cameras can also show why a car steams up while a couple play around inside.
PRE CONDITIONING Advice needed I leave home everyday at 725am At what time do I need to put the timer on in the settings for the pre condition to start? Does the pre condition warm the car interior and the battery or just the interior? Many thanks in advance.
I've found reliance on automatic headlights to be a really bad developing trait in a lot of drivers. Your auto light sensors can only measure brightness, NOT visibility. A really bright but foggy day? They won't come on. Middle of the day with loads of rain? They won't come on. In situations where you want your lights on to BE SEEN rather than to improve your own vision, the vast majority of auto lights will let you down. They definitely help, for sure, but are absolutely not a 'set and forget' utility. Any time your wipers are on, you want your lights on too.
Congratulations on your award last week Tom couple of questions on then cab have you had any ERAD problems so many drivers are having to get their Erads replaced some even twice or three times must be a cheap crap weak component LEVC use but the cab has been out 5 years now 68 plate and still problems with ERAD 73 plate also are you thinking of getting a new cab after 5 year warranty finished any thing they LEVC should upgrade or add to the cab to make it better apple car play ? this leather steering wheel can I ask where did you get it done at royal wheels ? and how much thanks in advance
11:23 I never knew cars did this. I had to try and time it perfectly, by turning the car ignition off when the wipers were up, for me to change the wiper blades on my VW Golf.
Hi Tom! My Brother and I have passed our knowledge. We're thinking of financing a new taxi and sharing it. Eventhough we get on very well, do you think this could be problematic?
Depends on the specific car and the specific manufacturing location and date. Regulations have trouble keeping up with technology, and under a lot of definitions, regen braking is *not* technically part of the "main braking system". If your foot isn't actually stomping on the brake pedal, it's anybody's guess what any given car is going to do these days. Bit crazy, honestly.
IF you use speedo limit and you still heavy footed in the sense I can put my foot to the bottom and it won't go pass 20mph will it still use more petrol or electric or does it not matter if you feather the pedal or floor it Hope that makes sense What is reduced gaurd also
You'd like to think so wouldn't you? Except Technology Connections did a whole video related to this th-cam.com/video/U0YW7x9U5TQ/w-d-xo.html It depends if regenerative braking alone activates the brake lights on this vehicle, which until recently was actually *prohibited* in the EU. So being a recent change I guess it depends if the UK still follow those standards and when this vehicle was manufactured? In other words, I wouldn't assume anything!
It was definitely not prohibited that woud have been very stupid... even very old EVs like an 2014 BMW i3 activate the brake lights when regernerating. The threshold for the lights to work is simmilar to "normal" engine beaking with an ICE. The video you mention just shows a very serious problem in Hyundai and Kia Cars wich is resolved by now.@@ryanmitcham5522

Please always switch off automatic high beam, I can't count the number of times I was blinded by cars with such feature because the car didn't recognise me as a cyclist with the cargo bike. The same when walking when it is cold and wet.
Great video! I got told about stuffing something down side of seat otherwise you will lose what ever falls down 😂😂 my bank card ended up falling! I found on the other side (luggage part) a little compartment you can get your arm through so managed to save it 😃😃
Auto lights don't work with rain and auto high beam only works with other cars, so don't complain when a pedestrian throws a beercan at you when passing .
Wow, these new taxis are complicated in technology. Although some of the features b be found on my car such as automatic wiper blades and dimming headlights…
Costs more to implement and in my experience would likely end up being more dangerous with how unreliable it is. As a passenger unable to drive due to poor health and visual processing I am often tasked with bringing back Apple Maps on the car
Won't be long until taxi drivers won't be needed. You will just go on your phone, order a cab, it will drive itself to your location then drive itself wherever you tell it. Driverless tech is moving so quickly.
What do you mean the railways can't get it right? Driverless technology is still in it's infantcy and it's already allowed on the roads in the US. There are cities there that already have driveless cabs working and they have very few issues currently. In the next 10 years they will be a normal thing to see on British roads, the only thing that might stop them is taxi union protests but I doubt even that. I don't know how cabbies will compete in price when you have a car driving itself you don't need to pay a wage so their prices will be lower.@@memediatek
I’ve often thought about driverless technology. Because some people drive like bellends, they are the weakest link so quicker they don’t drive the better. However, driverless technology is only good if EVERY car has it and is therefore predictable. As a human, I can predict in advance that the car on a side street isn’t going to give way as I drive past …as it should… and it will cut me up. Or that a person on a slip road will change lanes when it isn’t clear. I doubt computers could predict other road-users doing something against logic.
Bet it spends most of its time rinning on the engine. Real world EV range is what less than 60 miles in winter and reducing each year. A lot of money for a Fake EV Taxi
AI is distrusting a lot more industries already before driving. As there’s a safety element involved, driving will be one of the last areas affected. Otherwise we’d have driverless trains and planes.
